(1) I do not see that the word–its connotation, or whatever–has changed. I do not see any distinction between proper-to-God worship and “non-worship” being made in any other case, religious or otherwise, except with regard to devotion to saints. That is contrived and bordering on intellectual dishonesty.So what is your issue? It doesn’t change a truth, or diminish the honour Mary deserves, I just don’t get why you are so bent out of shape over this.
(2) It embarrasses me as a Catholic every time I see it done. During my conversion I spent a lot of time on primarily anti-Catholic boards while discerning the truth of the Catholic Faith (testing it, so to speak) and from experience I can say that this only-looks-like-worship-but-is-not-really-worship approach is big failure as a tactic of defense of the faith. It is ridiculed.
