Sorry to say but no your the one that is wrong. The Killing of an innocent human life is Murder,and as such Abortion should be outlawed.

Murder is a legal term, so, if abortion (why do you capitalize that I wonder) is on the law books in your country as ‘murder’, then you are not lying.

Which country are you in?

To take this a step further, why is murder wrong? If there is no God there are no commandments or moral laws, why can’t we all just murder each other at will without any consequences?

The only important thing in the first case is the womans feelings. I understand that you ‘feel’ a god in your soul, what I don’t accept is that it is evidence for anything other than a feeling.

Many non-believers agree that murder is wrong. My question to them, and to you is Why? Why is it wrong?

For some reason, my other ‘thread 3’ vanished. I didn’t get any indication from our hosts that it violated any rules, so I will just make another.
Perhaps it was deleted because there are two active threads with the same (nearly) name, so this time, I will ask them to close the old one, since it is over 1000 posts now.

Lets face it A thinks that Murder is ok. Instead of continuing to argue the point We should being praying and working to have the ill begotten Roe v Wade decision over turned. We need to speaking to women and men about the value of chastity outside of marriage.

I find two things really troubling though.

1 is that this thread has continued so long.
2 that I keep coming back to it.

I guess I do in hope that some one may say something to A that will open his eyes to the errors or atheism and start a journey to GOD. To those of you that have tried I thank you for the most part you have strengthened my faith. GOD Bless .

I have never supported murder. I did point out someone’s misuse of the word, but did not say that I support murder.
I do support womens rights, perhaps that is what has caused you to be so insulting as to accuse me of approving of murder.

I do wish that we could understand each other without my having to want to know your god. I know all about him, yet still see nothing that makes me believe in him. There is nothing reasonable to believe there, and the *unreasonable *claims are not supported with appropriately *unreasonable *evidence.
I am not seeking a god, and I am quite happy without one.

Judges legalized abortion in the United States which means they violated our constitution wherby the judicial branch is to deciopher law not make it law.

How about euthanisia ?

What about suicide ?

I think we go down a slippery slope.

40,000,000 aborted in the United States since Roe vs Wade.

We lost an entire generation to convience, selfishness, and definitely not love but murder.

Now “A” do you believe in love???

I have gotten some from them. I have also made a friend or two, through these discussions.
I know that when theists use circular arguments, it can be dizzying, but try to be yourself and stay anyway, you will likely find people making friends with you.
People are great that way.
Also, where else can you ask an atheist anything you want.
(OK, so I have stopped discussing abortion, but that is just one small subject…there are many)

As a matter of how an Atheist was to define morals and how an Atheist relates to areas such as science in reaching a decision of what is right and what is wrong I would rather not drop it till you answer the Questions. After all you are an athesist professing your faith and ideals on a Catholic forum so the least you can do is to show everyone how you or other Atheists come to a conclussion on such a powerful subject such as Abortion.

I have to admit I’m getting a little heated, but yes:

The essential difference between pro-lifers and pro-choicers is not “who’s evil and who’s saintly in the debate”. The “issue” is over what constitutes personhood, and sadly, if you take out the Catholic-God-clause, there is no real reason why a blob of cells with no awareness of its existence whatsoever is any different than the blob of cells in a tumor.

Furthermore, although there is one thing which makes an embryo/early fetus better than a tumor – its potential to be a human person – this point defeats itself when you realize that so do the millions of sperm right now swimming around in (you know). Also, should that “potential human person” become a great unnecessary weight on the mother’s life, *then it’s in the mother’s best interests to abort the “potential human person” and wait until a more suitable time to have a child. * As for the blob of cells: what does *it *care?

OK, once more, though I thought I had made my reasons clear in earlier posts.
A person can have jurisdiction over what happens inside their own body, and eviction privileges for any other person found to be residing there.
As I said earlier, I don’t mind someone trying to save the aborted fetus, but not at the expense of the liberty of the woman whose body this matter concerns.
Now that I have made myself as clear as I can, I will again politely bow out of discussion of this subject, which I call a womans rights issue and you call murder.
