Because the subject turned to hell, and eternal torture is part of your gods wishes for you.
This is what you worship.
I tell you, it’s tough to understand at times.
You misuderstand what hell is.
Your “6 year old” understanding is very common, even among under-educated Catholics, but it is quite wrong.
Should not those who CHOOSE eternal clinging to that which is bad for them be allowed to do so?
That is what hell is. God wants us to be eternally happy (blessed), but He is utterly commited to allowing us the one thing that makes us men, which is free will in the area of faith and morals, which results in our behavior.
He will not de-man us of our man-ness because He created us as men and not as any other thing. We are not robots, and He will not reduce us afterthefact to robots.
To eliminate hell, or heaven for that matter, is to de-man us.
This is God, not a god, as gods are creations of God who usurp God before men, convincing them that men are to be concerned with comfort and not truth, which we worship.
The god that you have been convinced we believe in is the idol of the demon who is worshipped by you by condemning it.
The more you condemn this thing which you think is our god, the more devout your worship of your god of “comfort”, as it gives you comfort to discount hell and to consider yourself superior to “believers”.
