I said that he was also being tested. The rest you invented.
Now “A” show me the past post where you said the Priest was also being tested.

and besides the post I seen before the one I responded to said your faith was being tested by Johnathan.

The manner in which you wrote the way I read it is that the priest is the whole church and hurt you therefore the whole church is wrong.

I can replay the 20 or more times you used that quote if you wish on this and the other two ateists threads.

Right here.

You don’t have to replay them, but if you would like, go ahead. I think you are misunderstanding the language.
but the finishing of the remark is what concerned me as either hate, distain, or just an ideology that the situation occurred because it was a priest. Like He owed you somthing because He had something you did not at the time.

So I looked further in the posts and who wrote this?

'I doubt it. I still think the RC church is evil. I still see the pope as just some guy living off the avails of simony. I still say that the god of the OT is nothing more than a terrible invention of men".

Maybe the conversion you speak of is from atheist to anti-theist.

May you live as long as you wish and love as long as you live.

You might be right, except that no-one has time to actively oppose all of the dieties that are on the go. I am certainly opposed to much of the catholic doctrine, but certainly don’t oppose all theists or all their fictional characters.

But time after time you have showed distain for Catholism. As a matter of fact when you get down to it it’s the time you show the opposite of a God and miracles and go as far as to describe something as evil

So do you believe in evil?

If you have read any of what I have written, you will know that I reject belief where I find it.
There is no ‘evil’. If you describe it carefully, you will see that.

I have read and you know what I think you talk a good talk. You are too firm in your not believing in anything. Love, God, Satan, after-life, etc…

You are most of the time good to talk with and make good sense at times. I like you answers especially when being put on the spot. You have at least answered wither they be one line or what.

I can see that you enjoy nature and can stop and smell the roses. that is why I keep asking you what you believe because you are not a self centered, angry, person.

I think under that hard exterior you are still searching and really do not want to make it final that atheism makes sense. Atheism is a very pessimistic view and is more blind than on the positive side of what could be.

Common sense being a decent human being, following morals, and knowing loss that to believe in God makes sense as far as if you believe, die, and are right you gain everything, if you believe, die, and was wrong you lost nothing.

It is just not a realist philosophy do put your seeds in soil that you know nothing can grow but to put your seeds where there is a possibility of growth.

Does that make sense to you?

I would recommend that everyone find their beliefs and subject them to careful, honest examination.

I try to answer everyone, even if all I have time for is one or two lines.

Do you think that is the way most atheists are?

I hope I don’t seem to have a ‘hard exterior’. I try to be pretty open and often aim to soften my language.

You are referring to ‘Pascal’s Wager’, and it has been refuted here several times.
It is just not a realist philosophy do put your seeds in soil that you know nothing can grow but to put your seeds where there is a possibility of growth.

Does that make sense to you?
Pascal’s Wager never made sense to me for another reason. If I don’t believe in Jesus, and I lie and pretend that I do, do you think he would be happy with that?
I think a supreme being would be happier with honest skepticism than with dishonest participation in a religion.

Atheism is a very pessimistic view and is more blind than on the positive side of what could be.
Actually, I think that orthodox religion, especially Roman Catholicism, is a very pessimistic religion. Everything is sinful, including a lot of things such as masturbation and birth control that the vast majority of Christians do not regard as being sinful. If you read the entries of believers on Catholic forums, including this one, they are preoccupied with sin and hell. Many appear to suffer by their own admission from scrupulocity and OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), conditions certainly aggravated by their religion.

Then I guess medical schools are being “pessimistic” when they teach their students that cancer harms people. Maybe if they just use Sharpies to draw smiley faces on the spot where the cancer is it’ll make the sufferer happy?

Catholicism is extremely optimistic. Humans are obviously imperfect. In fact, even when we’re trying our hardest, we fail very often. But Catholicism believes that no matter how badly you do, no matter how far you’ve fallen, there’s still hope for everyone on Earth for eternal happiness and godhood. How much more optimistic could you get without blatantly ignoring the degree to which the world is full of failure and pain?

That’s like being horrified that hospitals seem to have a higher percentage of sick people than the general population.

Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilight of the IdolsIn England one must rehabilitate oneself after every little emancipation from theology by showing in a veritably awe-inspiring manner what a moral fanatic one is. That is the penance they pay there.
I can’t think of an atheist on this forum who is not a million times more of a “moral fanatic” than all but the most scrupulous of Christians–and self-righteous, to boot. Better to be neurotic about your own sins than superior about someone else’s, especially when logically you should deny the existence of morality. But you won’t do that, because it’s scary.
When the English actually believe that they know “intuitively” what is good and evil, when they therefore suppose that they no longer require Christianity as the guarantee of morality, we merely witness the effects of the dominion of the Christian value judgment and an expression of the strength and depth of this dominion: such that the origin of English morality has been forgotten, such that the very conditional character of its right to existence is no longer felt. For the English, morality is not yet a problem.
But then, one doesn’t expect logical consistency from Lucretian Atomists (“Nothing exists,” to update the terminology slightly, “except particles and space.”) Dawkins even borrowed the Epicurean (=Lucretius) theory of memory, and called it “memes”! And I’ll wager he thought he was being original!

Out of curiosity, who’s clinging to the past, when your metaphysics was refuted 2400 years ago?

The Catholic Church is not against birth control. It is against artificially stopping the the ability to the reception of life.

The rhythm can be used and is just as effective as birth control pills if used correctly.

Birth Control has opened the door to wide spread pre-martial sex
and for us to use each other for our own personal enjoyment without giving a hoot about the other ones feelings.

It has lead to the spread of Hep B / C and H.I.V.

It has lead to go the next step and kill 50,000,000 babies in the United States with abortion.

It is also now leading to embryo tic cell research and please do not confuse this with adult stem research, not through miscarriages but by purposely creating life, to kill life, so another life that we believe has more value.

Masturbation is a selfish act that involves us lusting after another and in any Christian Religion to lust in you heart for a woman or man you have committed adultery.

I love my Catholic faith and am at peace with accepting Christ as my Savior. Do I sin of course but I truly do repent and go to confession, and try my best to turn away from sin.

My faith puts a smile everyday on my faith, gives me confidence in life as I offer my successes and failures to Jesus.

In the last several years it has changed me so that people wonder what happened.

Um…dude, we don’t need this kind of help. It’s not the “Rhythm” method and hasn’t been for thirty years.

It’s NFP, various methods.

Yes I do believe most Atheist are selfish and get angry for as why be an atheist? What is there to gain but at times not to deny oneself (selfishness) by having to give oneself to another. For with an Atheist beliefs this is my one and only chance at life and AI will not sacrifice my comfort and experiences for no one.

Most Angry as Atheist would be angry about having to work when he wants to play. seen this several times.

Most Atheists do not make good team players such as football, hockey, or soldiers for why would I sacrifice for others.

Most atheist would have a very small world and that is of his own.

What I mean about hard exterior is that reasoning (open mind)with what proofs there are that God exists. That there is the possibility, That some reasonable deductions are there and that the evidence other than placing ones hands in the wounds of Christ are there. The unexplained exists.

Pascals theory well the opponents wrong God ! Well Buddha and the majority of non Christian Religions do not believe in a God.
that we just get recycled. man, bear, fish back to man

Mormonism that we become Gods and pre-destination so why bother.

Islam no way to heaven and Mohamed that was a mass murderer. Unless you want to be a suicide bomber and get 21 virgins. I do not know what the females in Islam get?

Jews no way to heaven, the time for the Messiah has come and gone why many Jews are now secularists.

Again the only reason not to pick tails I win Heads you lose is that if you did believe it would be an empty faith and that will not get you to heaven. But it should be an educated and informed knowledge that there is no God. To close down and something as important as eternal may require ways of visiting these miracles and unexplained. Asked the big shot secularist scientist can yu make the shroud of Tourin today. why the bodies of these saints are not dust and decompossing. etc…

But to stop searching is a no go and will be no excuse when the time comes. Blessed are the poor in spirit but not those without any because of inconvenience.

O.k. Natural Family Planning why does it change what one did 30 years ago to today?

It is not a horse it’s a Pony. he he he

Uh, because the Rhythm method didn’t work unless a woman had an incredibly regular cycle? But NFP does, because it works on actual, experimental knowledge of when a woman is fertile. It’s better technology, in other words.

And Ponies are, in fact, a distinct class of Horse.

Temperture, plus cycle, and never when slick egg whites equals a no go

Thats what we did then why as it changed?

but a horse is a horse.

Science just makes it a new name, makes you believe it’s new, and they discovered it.

So you believe that about 10 - 20% of the global population are ‘selfish’ and ‘angry’ based purely on a disbelief in God? On what basis do you hold this presumption?

Why be an Atheist? Belief is not chosen, it is conclude. My conclusion on natural phenomena and my conclusion from knowledge I have learned leaves me no choice but to conclude there is no reason to perpetuate a God.

This presumes that all an Atheist cares about is themselves. I sense projection here.

This is nothing less than prejudice. You would do well to escape from your (self-imposed?) bubble of reality on who is what. Your flawed assumptions do not dictate me.

I don’t even know what this means. Your sentences are not coherent.

Because rabbit logic makes think of course.

There, I made just as much sense as you did in a much smaller amount of text there.

Seriously, what?

  1. Do you believe in Love?

    These are not natural phenomena’s:
  2. Saints that do not decay
  3. The Shroud of Tourin, lets try to remake huh?
  4. The miracle of the Eucharist
and I can go on and on and on. and you can witness if you decided to be a true realist and investigate. Take a trip go see for yourself. Don’t take other peoples word for it,
  1. So your conclussion must prove there is no God well convince
    me?
  2. So why don’t you tell me on what life as an atheist is about?
your morals and mine are not the same and as an atheist
never will be because you do not believe in anything.
