I made no such claim. I believe in God partly because i do believe that some acts are evil in nature and that some are holy and good. I said that Good and evil has no objective reality if in fact God does not exist. If there is no God, i do not believe that i would be evil, immoral, or obligated to any moral standard. If i walked in to a school and killed everyone; this would simply be an act of nature brought about by a random series of chemical reactions in the brain which has tempted me to kill. There is no reason for me to care about anyone else if life is nothing more then a pleasure sensation which will end in my ceasing to exist. Nobody is good. Only God is Good.

However, i do have likes and dislike like everyone else, and it may very well be the case that i would continue to do good things purely out of my own desire to act in way which would be considered Good.

And yet, strangely enough - so many Atheists appear to be good people. Why doesn’t your presumption coincide with morality?

Personally, I visited this forum because I had questions about a sacrament someone asked me to participate in. Then the atheist thread caught my attention and I’ve been following it ever since. Like I said, people are curious and like to learn from each other.

By the way, how do you know there is a god?

Howard Storm always felt there was no such thing as hell, and he was an atheist not believing in God…until he died and went there in 1985.
Speaking to 125 people at church, he became very emotional, often stopping to compose himself as he described his near-death experience which transformed his life forever.
Alone after his terrifying experience he yelled out:
“JESUS SAVE ME”

I am completely with David Hume on this on his position on miracles. An unexplainable event is more likely to be an explainable event than it is a miracle because Natural Law is much more probable than a breach of it. It is more logical to assert that any ‘miracle’ of meeting God, as ‘Howard Storm’ asserts was in fact, not a miracle - but something else entirely.

The reason being is that we have evidence of coincidental events. We have evidence for intelligent minds in history who made astonishing discoveries. We have evidence that observation entails deduction and we have evidence that guesses can be fortunate.

We have no evidence for the event of ‘Howard Moon’ and it is irrational to presume it. It is also irrational to presume Howard Moons experiences are in the slightest indicative of any other Atheist anymore than Ted Haggard’s romping is at all indicative of a Christians experience.

eh…it’s Howard Storm…if this doesn’t prove to you that God exists, then you really (no offense), have to be a little dense upstairs…I am going to do what Jesus said to do and that is “If anyone not listen to you, then shake the sand from your sandals…and move on”. Good luck in the hereafter…😦

Why wouldn’t you believe your own kind?? This man died and experienced something you may experience. I really would listen to Howard Storm if I were you. Aren’t you afraid? You will be, I only hope that you come to see the light and God forbid anything happens to you, that you may also call out to Jesus, because He has so much compassion and love for you, that is why He saved Howard Storm…

How is a personal testimony which is totally unverifiable in the slightest bit proof for God’s existence let alone questionable evidence? This is no more convincing for me any more than a Muslim’s claim that the Shahadah is visible in the clouds is at all convincing for you.

You need to understand what is objective. This statement of ‘seeing God’ isn’t. For me it is on equal level to someone claiming they have seen Thor in a dream.

And why would I care about Omar Shariff? That is his problem converting to Islam…I love listening to the hundreds of non-Catholics becoming Catholic every day…they are coming home to Rome in droves.😉

Is this a discussion to you at all? Where have I shown any anger or hatred? I will say honestly that I think people like you do a great disservice to religious people. You are full of self-righteousness, judgment and overall pomposity.

I engage on a discussion level. I see your arguments, and I make intellectual responses to them. Apparently you disagreement with yourself as being ‘full of anger’ or ‘irrational’.

A lot of Muslims may warn others about the hellfire. Why do you ignore them? I will wager that it is probably for the same reason I do.
