Yes I need to research that. Some of the examples I made he did change at least that I know of. But I will see into that. I am curious myself because I know that being Catholic we rely mostly on the New testament.

And as for Rambo I downloaded a bad copy:( so I haven’t seen it yet haha.

You gotta love watching a man in his 60s take on a whole army by himself.
How’s that research going?

This is laughable. There is no evidence that Jesus existed. Even bible scholars agree to this. Have you been living in a cave your whole life?

This kind of skepticism is based on FACT…

LES
This is absurd.

If someone does not believe in God or that Jesus is the son of God or that he is one in being with the Father and the Holy Spirit, then I can understand and appreciate the difficulty.

If someone does not believe that Jesus existed by way of the evidence of history, then I think that they are simply doing so out of a refusal to accept the historical facts. I will no longer address this point, because it is nonsense to insist that Jesus never lived.

Pax

Yes, I am saying jesus didn’t exist.

Your argument through four of -A’s- threads have been, "You are ignorant of god, You are ignorant of scripture, You are ignorant of the catholic teachings.

I am saying to you that you are ignorant of reality.

Prove me wrong…

les
You are right about my points in so far as I have attacked any and all misrepresentations.

I do not need to prove that Jesus existed and lived in Palestine. The history is the evidence.

Oh we’ve all considered it remember we weren’t all Followers at one point. But thanks for keeping an open mind.
I was addressing someone else specifically with that statement.
Oh, and it wasn’t you.
Whats that you don’t have an open mind? Are you open to the possibility that the Universe didn’t just create itself one day, but that there was intelligence involved? Just be open to the possibility.
Is there some reason that I should posit a ‘creator’? If so, what is it?
Another highly educated and scholarly observation.
Should be able to simply present evidence of your claim that a god walked the earth a couple of thousand years ago and expose ikddav as a fool.
Unless he isn’t.
Go ahead.
We are all waiting.🙂

Perhaps a man named Jesus existed and taught a lot of people. The claim that is ridiculous is that he was a god tossing around miracles like Kreskin.

You can admit that you can not provide proof of a god existing and that there might have been a teacher named Jesus?
That is pretty much what you would be doing by refusing to provide evidence at this point.
Invisible god.

Pax is right, The Bible is written as a pierce of history not meant and remember not meant to be fiction. The Bible is written in Parables because that is how Jesus spoke to the people therefore that is how the Apostles spoke also because they were repeating what he said.

Since the Bible is not meant to be fiction it is in the same category and any factual book of its time. You can get older writing from Plato and say it is fact because you can prove his surroundings, but you cant prove he existed can ya? no you cant it was too long ago. You cant prove Atlantis existed even though he writes about it (I do believe it existed) and they talk about it in the Bible according to the great flood.

If you were to take Plato and people would start to worship him then Atheists would come out of the woodwork and say we cant prove he existed at all. which would prove that a lot of Atheists turn their disbelief into a bias Belief.

A

But you didn’t answer the question. Do you believe the Universe created itself out of thin air?

I think it was usually someone who heard it from the apostles who heard it from a guy named Jesus.
Have you heard of the game ‘secret whispers’, where a message is whispered from one person to another? It doesn’t take too long for a message transmitted in this way to decay.
The universe is a better bible.

The question is not the existence of a man, but the existence of a god. That would require much more evidence.
no you cant it was too long ago. You cant prove Atlantis existed even though he writes about it (I do believe it existed)
Another belief? Is there any evidence of this ‘Atlantis’? Or is it just another feel-good story?
and they talk about it in the Bible according to the great flood.
There never was the flood that the bible describes. It is fiction.

If they started pretending Plato had special super-hero powers I think you would lose the atheists, but I personally don’t care when someone worships real humans. Isn’t my thing, but people worship the oddest things.
A

But you didn’t answer the question. Do you believe the Universe created itself out of thin air?
Since your question in nonsense it is hard to answer, I will try anyway.
If time started when the universe started, then saying ‘before’ the big bang is like saying north of the north pole.
There would be no air to create itself out of. Not even very thin air.
The big bang theory is too complex for me to understand fully, if you wish to learn about it I would suggest Steven Hawkings book as a jumping in point.(sorry I don’t recall the title right now)
The important thing is, I don’t believe this either.
It has more consistent evidence to offer than any other theory I have heard. If I had to make a prediction based on my knowledge of the origins of the universe, I would use that (with a little string theory which I am trying in small bites to digest) information to make my prediction.
I have not seen any reason to *want *to imagine a god.

By the way, I like how the message in your signature (‘God created the universe’)compliments mine.
Now we just need someone to use ‘Man created the bible
Also, I find the yellow a little tough to see on my screen. Not too bad, and it is a nice colour, but I thought you would appreciate knowing how it was seen on my background (which is mostly orange)👍

A lot of people studied under Plato and wrote down what he said at the time. Not true of Jesus. Most of what was written about him was not written by those who knew him, since they were illiterate Jews. Accounts were written about him in Greek, from aramaic verbal or possibly Hebrew written accounts. Much more indirect, easily infected by pagan traditions, and ALL after Jesus died.

Plato incidentally was supposed to have been born of a virgin.

Many atheists believe that Jesus existed.

I don’t know if “Atlantis” ever existed. No one has discovered it yet.

You are very credulous.

Because I don’t like experiencing it myself, so I don’t want to see others going through it.
When a person touches something hot, they experience pain to let them know that they are about to damage their skin tissue.

When a person has a stroke or heart attack, pain is felt to indicate that there is something seriously wrong with their health.

When a person is recovering from a broken limb, pain and suffering are experienced as the body works to heal.

When a person experiences suffering in the form of a severe migraine, this can be an indication of stress or even a brain tumor.

When mothers give birth, they experience extreme pain and suffering.

Given that this suffering is all part of the natural processes of life, and the fact that you hold science and the natural world in high esteem, how do you reconcile your stance with the above?

Your question is a non-sequitur.

Just because atheists hold science and the natural order in high esteem doesn’t mean we think it’s perfect.

It’s true that the human neural system uses pain as a warning. That doesn’t mean that man’s body or its process are perfect. In a perfect world there would be no pain. Certainly not in childbirth, which has killed millions, mothers and children alike.

Atheists don’t believe that the natural world is perfect or even good. It’s what is out there and its messages and needs must be given top priority. Atheists and others not burdened by an oppressive religious system work to alleviate pain and suffering. In the past the Catholic church worked to promote pain and suffering, and to some extent still does—all in the name of its religion, of course.

Why is it that when you paint yourself into a corner you feel compelled to change the basis of the argument? Either Jesus existed or he did not exist. History says that he did while you remain a skeptic. Upon being pinned down on this you decide not to concede, but instead shift the argument as to whether I can prove that Jesus was God.

Please concede the obvious before launching into something else.

Furthermore, in the first thread we presented arguments to show that Jesus was in fact who He proclaimed himself to be. You simply blew them off because they do not conform to your “unbelief” and because those facts cannot be put under today’s “microscope” of science. I can at least understand that, but I cannot understand why you cannot simply admit that Jesus really lived in Palestine.

This is not Absurb. Please provide your evidence that Jesus existed. Evidence other than the bible.

les
Blah, Blah. Please provide evidence !!!

This is your usual reply, You are laughtable.

les
Are you for real? Try reading the complete works of Josephus. He was a Jewish historian of the era and he says Jesus existed.

Are you now going to tell me that there is no evidence for the Holocaust under Hitler and that I have to prove that too?

Please refrain from wasting people’s time with this kind of thing.

Atheists eat babies and spend all their time working out how to make everyone else miserable.

See? I can make sweeping, unsubstantiated statements too.

Ok heres a couple questions. This one is for A: what is your belief then on creation of the big bang, no actually theory since no one knows. Your answer could prove you have an open mind.

This one is for 1234: What does yes with ought the air mean? I never asked if there was air did I? I asked do you think that the Universe just created itself one day? I believe your answer was yes which means you make no effort to imagine the possibilities. After all try to think a little deeper than a simple yes. I am not very credulous I have an open mind and I don’t disregard all human accounts I see everything as information, then I analyze it then I try to put the pieces together when there is enough information. I will admit I don’t believe 100% percent what people are taught in church but I don’t throw it away and disregard it because that would be a waste of information I could use later on.

and A we have spoken about the Flood before and I showed you the article which had evidence. Even though the Bible description of the Flood and the one being described in the article are not similar to a T does not mean you should not consider the possibility.
