Everything you suggest starts with believing in a god. I can’t start there because I find it laughable nonsense. If you had something else to say, other than accusing me of being angry, I would be glad to listen. You have only your god, or something like it, to offer (or that is all you have offered here).
It’s my experience that 14 and 15-year olds don’t have the mental capacity to think things through like this. In fact, physically, the brain is not matured fully until a person reaches the age of 25. Just make sure that he attends church with the family whether he likes it or not. It’s something a Christian family DOES, it’s not a choice.My 14 year old has decided he is now atheistI know he is searching and confused (welcome to the teen years). Because I ONCE was an atheist, I am aware of all the “logic” he tries to use in support of this. When I point out how ILL-logical being an atheist is, he just says that being a Christian is too hard and not believing in easier and more fun
like me, there will come a time when the emptiness of being an atheist will be overwhelming, and that is when he will return to the fold of God’s love and mercy.
Being an atheist is indeed easy, no going to Church, no praying, etc…but there will come a time when all that “Easy” will feel empty. Just believing that when we die that is IT seems so dark, empty of hope. I know, I was once there.
I pray for my son and for all atheist who are lost, even though they may not feel lost at the moment.
The Joy and Peace of soul in believing and knowing our Lord far outweighs the nothingless of atheism. Its OTHERWORLDLY:thumbsup:

The god that is described in the bible is complete nonsense. Of course I can’t prove that a god doesn’t exist, but there are enough contradictions in the bible as to make it laughable.

I see the aurora many nights.(about one out of three, when we have ‘night’ here) It would be foolish to invent some cause for this beauty when there are reasonable causes present for it. Next you will try to say that a rainbow should convince me of the existence of your god.

If this is such convincing evidence of your god, why doesn’t everyone believe? Why are there not peer-reviewed studies of the place? Why are no amputees getting healed there?
Just because a bunch of people are said to have hallucinated at one spot doesn’t mean much when the rest of the world did not report a dancing sun that day (you do know that it is the same sun, don’t you?)
An example of what, exactly? Your gods existence? Or an example of an oddly stained cloth. If it were found to be a fake, would you stop believing, or just go find a new example?
I just got a few new boards from www.chess.ca and I am hoping to create a tournament among the (admittedly few) interested people around here. Perhaps a big juicy prize will get more participation…I haven’t thought of one I can afford on a modest income which would have tremendous appeal. Any ideas? I think the young are easier targets, as most adults can get their own prizes…The modest sum I can contribute would have more appeal among the unemployed, I guess…Computers, chess, and fishing.

That is one of the ‘insidious’ but most surprising things about God: He works personally through the lives of individuals. Why? Because it is a transformation of the individual from the inside-out that transforms the reality around him or her, and that transformation is what brings His love into the world. Just read your own posts and see how miserable you appear in here. You are at the end of your intellectual rope and covering everything up because of your seeming thinking of knowing all there is to know. But life changes. Pray that you do too.
OK, describe which god you mean and I will start. The contentions I made about the bible were answered, if you mean someone said I didn’t understand, but here is a simple one - there was no great flood as described in the bible.
