Hmm? When a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there does the tree really fall? Is there really a tree or a forest if nobody sees it?
Why would a tree fall to begin with if it existed at all? Does the tree then decay if it is uprooted? When it is in decay does it still remain a tree if it ever existed in the first place?
At a certain point, the falling (fallen) tree stops being a tree and becomes deadfall.

He is now wandering the globe apologizing. This wasn’t just an American thing. It was as if the world Church was taken over by pedophiles. These types abused children in America, Ireland, Europe, Australia and Africa. If the cases had been reported immediately to the police for investigation, this whole shameful episode could have been nipped in the bud. Cover ups are never a good idea.

The pedophilia was sin by men. The cover up was a shameful act by the leaders of the Church. We can only hope that these leaders have learned from their error.

Ya, only hope…well I guess you could pray, too.
The thing is that the author of that shameful document is now running the entire church, and accountable to no-one.
Except for his invisible friend.
The one who *did not *act to protect those tender young victims you were referring to.

can you honestly think your existance is by chance?

there is no chance.
god made it all!

eg) the eye. how does that evolve. it serves as no purpose whatsoever unless perfectly and completely formed. how then, could primitive lifeforms develop fully functional eyes such our own???

eg) the giraffe. due to its long neck, it has a sponge device in its brain. this “sponge” basically prevents the brain from bursting with blood pressure every time it bends down to drink. so i ask you this. how did the first giraffe develop this sponge. it has to bend down to drink to survive, and it also cant bend down because it would instantly die, meaning it cannot develop or have the chance to evolve.

look around you, the world is so amazing and so ingenously designed.

Chance steered by natural selection.
there is no chance.

Which god do you mean? Oh, and who made your god?

This was answered so long ago I have to thank you for showing your scientific illiteracy. It makes it much easier to dispense with any scientific claims you make when you show such a lack of understanding.
If you really want to know, then check out the explanation in ‘Growing Up In The Universe’, which shows how the eye is useful at EVERY stage of evolution.

This particular canard is better known as the ‘argument from personal incredulity’. “I can’t imagine it any other way, so my god must have done it.”

It is easy to see that the design is far from ‘ingenously’ executed. (I suspect you meant ‘ingeniously’)
For example, why did the designer place waste disposal right next to the recreation area on humans? Why is there an appendix? Why bother with nipples on man?
Considering these questions might begin to show you the truth about your precious ‘designer’.
If you read up on some science instead of just your bible, you might learn some important things about the violent, beastly fiction in the bibles.

A, i have a question for you. I believe you’re a man of science (anyone else interested can offer their opinion too).

What do you know of Dark Matter? How did Dark Matter come into existence? No right or wrong answer here. Just let me know what you think.

I will try to say all that I know about ‘Dark Matter’ in this post (which should tell you I don’t know much!)
Dark matter is a way of explaining how the estimates of the mass of the universe made up by cosmologists are incorrect. Dark matter can not be seen (hence the ‘dark’) but it’s gravitational effects (as well as heat-dissipation perhaps) can be observed and predictions can be made which should align (if the model is correct)

As to how matter came into existence (dark or light) I have no idea. The phrase came into existence because some people wanted to describe their ideas about the universe.

Interesting question, though. Why do you ask?

I am not what I would call a ‘man of science’. My friend works in a lab, cleaning and organizing bottles every day. She is a ‘man of science’. Marie Curie irradiated herself to death (at the end it has been suggested that she became aware of this) learning about our world methodically, and sharing her precious knowledge in a rigorous and repeatable way.
(note - I used female examples because I think saying ‘man of science’ is a little off the mark. There have been many ‘women of science’ like Jane Goodall, Barbara McClintock, Marie Telkes, Ellen Ochoa, Hypatia of Alexandria, Margaret Mead, Helen Brooke Taussig, Chien-Shiung Wu and I would not want these beautiful, hardworking intelligent women forgotten)🙂

I am quite intrigued with this phenomena, so to speak. Quite exciting, really.

Dark Matter is what holds the mega-universe together. Its kinda like a heavy transparent jelly-like force which can bend light, holds all the galaxies together and moves against the blackness of space.

What if God was that “Dark Matter” that even have scientists mystified? What if all that holding power in space is actually proof in the existence of God?

Don’t be afraid to derive your own conclusions. I will be looking forward to reading your views and thoughts. Everyone, join in the discussion too. 🙂

Let me ask this, if they discover tomorrow the mundane explanation for this, would you drop your faulty notion of there being a god, or move your god into one of the other gaps in knowledge?

The god of the gaps keeps getting smaller and smaller, and has fewer places to hide every year. Why postulate this notion at all when it does not correspond to observational reality?

I’ll chip in and say I don’t know much about dark matter. As far as I’m aware it is simply matter that isn’t observable via radiation of light, we only know about it by means of observing its gravatational effect on ‘normal’ matter.

Perhaps a better question is ‘what is dark energy?’

Still really looking forward to the data to come out of the LHC!

It’s merely a speculation, not an infallible thought. I doubt they will be able to discover any explanations on Dark Matter, today or tomorrow. If scientists cannot yet give a full explanation on how worm/black holes work or the fact that we know very little about our own galaxy, what’s there to hold anyone back from believing there maybe a possibility of a Higher Force at work?

That is a false notion. As i mentioned above, it is admitted that scientists know less than 1% on the workings of the universe but you already think you have made the gap smaller. That’s bold of you. 🙂

Why postulate your particular god, though? It could just as easily be leprechauns, or Baal, or Zeus, or something natural.

Just because we don’t understand yet doesn’t mean there is a good chance that goddidit.
Could you change your belief about your god based on new evidence? Or would you cling to it in any event?

You were suggesting that your god was hidden in this particular place, I just asked if new knowledge would change your notion of your god, or if you would simply keep believing regardless of what evidence was found.

I think nothing can change your belief.

Be a real shame if you were misled or mistaken, wouldn’t it?

Thats why St. Paul said he was going to tell them about the Unknown God.

I saw as I walked along your streets many temples dedicated to many gods, you are a religous people, but I saw one temple dedicated to the ‘Unkown God’ and it is this God I’m going to tell you about.

‘You worship what you do not know, we worship what we do know.’

Just to clarify something: “My God” is not a personal God. My belief in God is personal and so are my prayers. “My God” is not meant for me only, He is everyone else’s God also.

I’m not trying to postulate anything. If there is any underlying scientific evidence that God exists, then i suppose everyone will rejoice at that fact. Be it a Christian, Muslim or Jew or members of other faiths.
Just because we don’t understand yet doesn’t mean there is a good chance that goddidit.

Let me quote Michal Heller here:
[
“If we ask about the cause of the universe we should ask about the cause of mathematical laws. By doing so we are back in the great blueprint of God’s thinking about the universe; the question on ultimate causality: why is there something rather than nothing? When asking this question, we are not asking about a cause like all other causes. We are asking about the root of all possible causes. Science is but a collective effort of the human mind to read the mind of God from question marks out of which we and the world around us seem to be made.”

As a Catholic, i have no fear of science. In fact, i welcome it. As i mentioned earlier, its only a speculative thought. If a scientist declared that Dark Matter is “not of God”, then i suppose that would make the scientist who declared it as infallible in his decision, would’nt it?

Would it be a cause of concern for me? No. Should i believe in what the scientist declared? Not without proper evidence and definite confirmation by several other scientists and they must agree with one another. Does it mean i have to look elsewhere for His existence? Sure, why not? Scientists always question and make speculations too. There is nothing wrong in being inquisitive.

Oh, just in case, i’m not an ID proponent. I follow debates on it alot. Sometimes the Believers make sense, sometimes they don’t. Likewise, sometimes scientists make sense, other times, they are in denial. 🙂

I’ll chip in and say that for me, this is the heart of the issue. I believe in something - but not the God of any of the revealed religions (and the writing they are based on. I have to go on personal experience, observation and reason. Tradition just doesn’t cut it. 🤷

And why worship at all? Would your energies not be better spent providing for your community?

Thousands of humans have been searching for their gods for thousands of years and not one shred of evidence in favour of one or another has been collected.

Is god hiding, or just indifferent?
I like the picture in your signature, very clever 🙂
Me too, did you design it, or find it?
