I’m A POOR FELLOW!!
LOL So your saying there is rules now???
Does it annoy you that i have read the Bible and can quote like i do and not believe like you do??
I have read 2 versions front to back, And have a reason not to believe in it… First thing before you knock something is to try understand whats in it. *
I believe that a man with a very good mind wrote stuff as a thought to what may have been the start of man…
Others have liked the stories and carried them on and they got out of hand because dont forget that the amount of money generated of these stories are Billions and Billions…
The bible often speaks of Gold WHY???
Adam and Eve had no need for it… So why is it mentioned??
Your telling me you never thought about this??
.Or are thses against your rules to ask questions??*

You are fighting the wrong enemy whiteknite.

Islamification of Europe is a far greater threat than Christianity could ever be or ever will be. Seculars and Christians at least agree on fundamental social freedoms whereas Islamists don’t agree with democracy at all. 36% of all European Muslims wish to have Sharia Law in their respective host countries. That equates to about 40,000,000 Muslims in Europe who want this, no small number. This non integration mindet comes from the top muslim clerics who tell muslims not to integrate and to take over the world.

Gold is what is called a “precious” metal. It is one of the gifts given to Christ by the Wise Men.

Since you have read the Bible so many times (which is impressive. btw! 👍 ) then you know that when presenting a gift to a king, and in this case it was the King of kings, you give the very best that you can.

It is never wrong to give God the best that we have to offer.

Seemed to is the operative word. Look more closely and you will see that violence is not rewarded. Utimately what was thought to be victory through violence ended with defeat.
Phooney, I like your posts. However, are you using sarcasm at times to dismiss someone’s lack of identifiable proof?
Tell that to the Canaanites, hehe.

Regarding sarcasm, I’m not sure, but about that, but maybe. Apologies if I am.

My point is:-
What would Adam and Eve want with Gold??
There was supposed to be only them 2 out there, So its not as if they needed it to barter with or Adam could make an engagment ring from it…
Why was it pointed out so much in Genesis??
To me it was already around while moses wrote his words and thats all he could think of like most so-called holy people…
You never see a poor priest, Most churches especialy the vatican have Gold all over the place…

I have an Auntie who is muslim and she told me that there is a war about to errupt here in the uk within months.
There pouring in here by the plane loads.
So i guess there getting into position, While our troops are over there they are invading us here…

There was a mix up at Heathrow airport this weekend,
They let plane loads of people in without ID so thats quit a few of them here that nobody know…
All international planes were directed to internal flights…
Must have been an agenda for the mishap i would say…

You rarely see a protestant minister dressed in rags, either…😉

Gold is something people can relate to as something of great value. It has historically been used as a standard ror comparison between objects. It is a symbol of commerce. Naturaly, in the time of Adam and Eve, there were no commercial enterprises. Sorry, I’m just kind of jumping in. Maybe I don’t fully understand the question?:o

People that are non faith based are basically amoral people who want to indulge in sinful ways and have a clear conscience about it. Basically are very selfish and self centred from what I can see anyhow.
Sources please or is this simply your stereotypical opinion?
You worship your ipods, laptops, televisions and their program stars, hollywood, drugs, immoral sex, immoral lifestyle, gay culture and any other variety of. These are your Gods.

I hope they provide you with salvation and love.
I don’t worship any of these things. I don’t worship period.
From my observations about such people who are usually urban in nature. No wonder our cities are under siege by filth with these types running the show.
Oh yeah and I don’t live in an urban area.

Using your definition, the only things I “worship” are my relationships with loved ones.
Minnie31, I hope you had a good mother’s day. Also, I hope you read my apology in the previous thread. I did not read your previous threads and was wrong in my assessment.
By the way what influences you to love?

Using your definition, the only things I “worship” are my relationships with loved ones.
I can relate, because that’s where I’d be apart from Christ. Now my loved ones are second to God. Faith has given me the grace to be better to my loved ones than I’d be without Christ. Faith has kept me away from things I’d have otherwise gotten involved in that would have caused my loved ones heart ache.

Actually Jacafamala, I was pleasantly surprised by the thoughts that came to me during Mass.
I thanked God for their presence and it also occurred to me that they are a reminder to me that our faith is to be lived as an act of love.
It occurred to me that what they identify is the sin that is within our faith that will distort how our faith is to be lived by us and perceived by others.
I forgot to wear red but my passion for Truth is an unseen red.
I have much more to add but I must go now.
I believe that the men and women who are Atheists hold us to a higher standard to prove that we do have a living faith rather than a dead faith.
🙂 Yes indeed. Faith apart from love is dead.

And atheists fascinate me.

I find myself to be the opposite - I mean, clearly a non-believer, but one that has greater love/feelings/respect for fellow humans. I don’t hate gays, I don’t think less of women and I don’t feel that I have any right to impose my beliefs on anyone else.

By “worship”, we obviously mean “use”? You must worship your computer for you to be able to post on this forum. With regards to drugs, I used Gerin Oil until the hallucinations became too much. I’m not gay and I’m happily married (and have been for many years). I will admit to immoral sex, I do use condoms and will be having a vasectomy on Friday.

Urban is a good way to describe me. Living on a farm, surrounded by farms that, too, are surrounded by farms. If by “urban”, you mean “dense”, I guess that can apply to people of any religion - read some of the responses on this forum!
I hope they provide you with salvation and love.
Who are “they”? Atheists?
See you on Judgment Day.
See you on Funglemorton Day! (Don’t ask when it is, it’s just another made up day.)

Muslims hate the western world? (Sorry 🙂 )

Just as they do with their mythical gods, “believers” are told (and must believe) that there is no way to morality without the teapot.

Many people who don’t believe in gods have morality and would argue that it is just “common sense” that one would not kill, steal or hurt another person simply because they would not want the same to happen to them (Save the "Jesus says ‘do unto others as…’ " rhetoric for someone who doesn’t know that that existed long before ‘Jesus’ and the old testament.).

“Common sense” would also be the basis for people to not believe in any mythical gods, but, if you toss out the bath water…

The reality is that morality doesn’t come from fearing a teapot or a spaghetti monster (though I once had a nightmare about spaghetti that made me feel the need to clean my room). If one does good simply because of the fear of a god, they worry me - they will be the dangerous ones when they finally realize that god does not exist.

Catholics obviously use another “method” for determining what is moral and what isn’t and this is evidenced in their selection of texts to follow. How can someone choose which books of the bible to believe in - if it is the word of god, should it not all be believed in?

Enjoy!

And when they cant decide on praying to God or Jesus, They pray to saints instead.
Which to me is worshiping a false idol…
Something moses murdered 3 Thousands men/women and children to put that point accross…🙂

Geez, lucky for us, eh, Eh?

Welcome to Catholic Answers, btw! 😃

Re: impose. I sure hope, unlike religion, that we all accept the same definition for words no matter where we’re born.

I have yet to suggest, agree with, support or vote for a law that takes away the freedoms and rights of other people where they don’t harm another person or group.

If I don’t agree with abortion, I won’t have one. (Interesting side note, my cousin is married to a Doctor - who happens to perform abortions - he was adopted (mother couldn’t care for him but her Catholic upbringing wouldn’t let her abort)… don’t you wish his mother wasn’t such a devout Catholic? Oddly enough, he, too, is a practicing Catholic).

The general response of “abortion harms another person” is a weak one. One could argue that stopping stem cell research harms millions of people, and so on. Conception isn’t the beginning of life - and it should never be considered such. Unless, of course, you are in the funeral home business and wish to drum up business - more fetuses are aborted naturally than ever come to or could come to term.

As for welcoming me to the board, I’m glad to be here. I hope to learn - I didn’t join to be a part of the atheist discussion but rather to get answers to other questions. When I saw the statement relating to atheists being immoral, etc., I was surprised at the antiquated references to such.

I chose the “ehtheist” title because I’m not interested in being a “troll” - my (dis)beliefs are clear. Even when I was a practicing (I was never good at it even though I practiced 3-4 times per week) Catholic, I didn’t like the idea that I couldn’t simply be good for the sake of being good.

Perhaps some people who have less self control are better off with religion. But then, who watches the watchers? I personally find the statement that you’ve put a potentially ficticious character ahead of your own loved ones quite horrific, but oh well.
