Do you believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster? If not why not?
I do not believe in those 2 gods for the same reason you do not.

I went through the standard catholic indoctrination program myself, and had a good look at it there. In the time since I left school, I have had a look at a few other forms of christianity. All of them are beliefs and practices that I must remain morally opposed to. They are beneath my standards in many ways.yes something else I would like to do yet is see the winter storms on the Island at Long Beach. I guess the ice piles up and crashes down.
Hadnt thought of this til just now but, I guess you really do have to live in snow to appreciate it.
Actually been reading this thread and wondering if there was anything to add to the conversations. And at this point it just hit me. One has to get to know, understand, experience, hear, taste anything to truly appreciate anything or anybody for that matter
One can hear of the ice, but until one actually experiences at least a bit of it, one really doesnt know what they are missing. Then they realise theres more to know.
The same with God.
I can’t just believe something unbelievable. I am not able. I look at things critically.
Also, I don’t believe. Not in evolution, gravity or gods.

I notice you still didn’t answer my question about wether you believe in Allah, and wether that belief or lack of belief is a virtue as well.
I do seek the truth, it’s just that the origins of the universe are not that important to me. Much more important is how to help individuals who are living with FASD. Now that kind of knowledge is a worthy endeavor!

Hi! I too love to fish, play chess, and everything else you enjoy, except I am deeply involved in the Catholic Church.
Perhaps you came from a deeply religious home and as a lot of other kids you rebelled against it?
That’s what happen to my 3 kids and wife,
My Korean born wife had a protestant background and I promtly grabbed the chicken by the neck and had her converted, She became a devout Catholic, so devout that I found her praying rosaries when I came to bed at night and of course I had other things in mind.
My 2 daughters graduated from a Catholic school in Japan, and were gung ho about Church, were involved in “Teens Encounter Christ” retreat weekends and staffed and eventually led some weekends as “Rectora” We sent them off to Baylor U( Baptist) and were promily brainwashed into unbelief.
My only son a belated GOD’s gift,16 years behind the girls went to a protestant school (Our Catholic school having underhandedly been turned into a Japanese Catholic institution.)
We had him enrolled in a CCD ( Catholic Doctrine) program on Base eventually became an Altar boy for several years till he was brainwashed by the protestants and ended up believing in nothing.
We sent him off to a US College, financed by his now flush sisters, and after 6 months promtly disappeared in the woodworks
here in Japan at the end of his vacation, leaving our daughters highly incensed to the point of becoming incommunicado.
Perhaps we should forbid our children of getting involved with religion, then they might to spite us just do the opposite and become believers? Example; Madelaine O’Hair’s THE MOTHER OF ALL ATHEIST, whose son became a very prominent protestant Minister.

Mesages. If not convinced and you have the means take a trip down there. Stones have turned bloody there. Keep in touch, if not for a Chess Game or exchanging “Fish Stories”

What I am suggesting is that you don’t believe, but subject everything you can to critical analysis. Some of our best advancements in human knowledge have been finding out that we were wrong! Look what happened when Gallileo looked through a telescope…he saw phases of Venus. This was finally conclusive evidence that the earth-centric world-view was incorrect. It shook the world. Hundreds of years later we still owe him a debt.Should I believe what you don’t believe?
Einsteins great discoveries stemmed from his evidence that time was not a constant the way it was accepted in that era. He brought critical thinking to a part of the world and again, we owe him a great debt.
Never believe, always question.

) tuna, shark and many other spieces. I have many pictures to prove it!I am a former (atheist??? naw that may be too stong…agnostic??? yeah that’s more like it). If you’d be interested in the whys and hows I became a revert Catholic, I’d be more then happy to share.

I’m afraid I could only guess. I just go look around and occasionally find fish. I know people who make more of a study of it, looking for the inversion and such, but I have been more of a duffer. I don’t catch very large fish, and I don’t catch them that often.

hmm well I was sorta opposite. Mom had me go to sunday school a bit to “learn right from wrong” She wasnt necessarily opposed to God just didnt take Him seriously. The rest of the family were pretty much opposed. Was all and fine for funerals and weddings but thats it, dont wanna get too close one could “get religion”

I know that creation is less correct than evolution. That, it is easy enough to understand from watching what the working scientists use (they will use the theory that offers the best predictions.)I understand I think what you say about not believing, in grade 7 science class they were still teaching creation and evolution. I thought FINALLY I will get answers when the evolution section came up. It was a bitter disappointment, no questions answered, I was actually miffed. I just figured there were no answers.
If you need to know something about it, I know a few good resources on the web, and I do myself understand a little bit about evolution by natural selection.

ok now I feel better, If I took a pic outside youd just see leafless trees and dead grass. It can snow after I get my trailer back over the pass this weekend. It had snowed so I hoping the plows did their job.

Please allow me a few thoughts that I hold dear. (I do not profess they are meaningful to others)
I could simply say, “why not” but that is not something I suspect you’d entertain. Although, now, for me, it is a reasonable reply.
Fundementally, God is, or is not. If God is not, nothing “is”.
Anythin temporal is without meaning…eventually.
The single most profound statement I ever read was from Augustine. “for Thou hast formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless til they find rest in Thee”
After every other path failed and failed miserably, finally something made sense.
I believe because He planted the “believe seed”. And with His help, I watered it.

i was sometimes atheistic but mostly agnostic most of my life. it wasn’t until my early 20’s when God chose to call me to find Him gradually through reason, and what i know now was a tiny bit of faith (that someone must know something, somewhere, about something greater, not so much the divine but of truth and knowledge of ourselves).
obviously most of the comments made here will go right out your other ear, so just keep doing what you’re doing - exploring… keeping a slightly open mind… and God will reveal the truth you are looking for, in the way you most understand it, at a pace which you can handle.
i suggest tonight you tackle the most complicated dilemma by first using the most simple method - asking Him yourself.
no one’s in your room. no one’s in your head, yet He’s always listening, so why not go ahead and try it.
obviously most of the comments made here will go right out your other ear, so just keep doing what you’re doing - exploring… keeping a slightly open mind… and God will reveal the truth you are looking for, in the way you most understand it, at a pace which you can handle.
