I am not a good Catholic

It sounds as if you have a sexual addiction. In addition to prayer, see a psychiatrist.
Its been my experience that sometimes (key word: sometimes) shrinks can make things worse…
I would say, if you feel you must see a psych Dr… see a practicing Catholic one… which is probably quite rare(??)… 🤷

no, I am a single male. nuff said 😃
Women desire sex just as much as men do, if not more so… I know its not (PC??) to say that, but it is very true…

all humans are sexual creatures. God made us that way and there is nothing wrong with it… Yet, when we abuse our sexuality (autoeroticism, adultery, fornication…), we hurt ourselves and others, sometimes in ways we don’t see until “after” we fall… and then, it FEELS like its too late… our lives are a mess… 😦

Anyway… God bless.:gopray: :highprayer:

Chastity is difficult. …Believe it or not, your struggle against temptation is a good sign. … The straight and narrow path toward God requires suffering because we are conforming our will by the grace of God to the Divine will. It’s a dying to self by surrendering self-will with its deceitful desires for God’s will. .
Amen.

I think a lot of people reject living a godly life because of the sacrifice and hardship involved… Nowadays, those 2 things are anathema… yet truth doesn’t change… You can’t walk with God and also with the world, the flesh and the devil… (or can you? I think i am doing that!! Anyway, with the Mass, Confession and the Blessed Sacrament, most of the time, we can win over those 3 things 🙂 )…

:highprayer:

I know a priest who says that if you don’t have sexual desires and temptations every day of your life, then you don’t need to see a priest, you need to see a psychiatrist.

.
 But i don’t want to go see a psychiatrist!!!

I used to have sexual desires, but after so long living without fulfilment thereof… I guess i got used to it (??). Plus, i knew that if i fell into self-gratification, i would be miserable and separated from God… so as “boring” and empty feeling as it can be to live without any “gratification”… well, its worse to live with the consequences of sinful fulfillment, which is, in the long run, not fulfilment at all, but “hell”…

We are separated from God enough without having serious sin in our lives… :gopray:

God bless

I Instead, you commit the sin anyways. Why?
I used to ask WHY? about a lot of things… Now, i just try to accept that i may never know (fully) Why…

What matters is doing God’s will whether we understand or not… (not easy, but do-able).
I heard once that some saint (?) said that the sins that get more people into Hell than any other are sexual ones… Second to that is sins against charity…

As someone else quoted from the Bible “If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you… [better to go into Heaven maimed than with both feet to enter eternal damnation…]”

Jesus said it was difficult getting into Heaven. Sadly, he said that most don’t find that “narrow way” to eternal life…

I pray you find it - and keep on that road…

God bless. :bible1: :heaven:

If you could envision the consequences of a particular sin before committing it, you probably wouldn’t commit it…

Sin always looks so good before the fact… Afterwards, it shows itself for its ugliness…

It is hard to believe sometimes, that God really has our best interests at heart in telling us not to do this, not to do that… but “the wages of sin is death”…
As said at Mass Sun: [Jesus came to save us from] never-ending death otherwise known as Hell… eternal separation from God]…

do you spend much time before the Blessed Sacrament? If so, do you stay very long??

Praying for you.

outfcntrl: Perhaps you continue to sin because you see it as totally unrelated to anything or anyone else. Maybe if you thought of your sin as driving one more nail into the hands or feet of our Lord or adding one more lash mark you’d reconsider. Christ suffered and died for our sins. Watch the Passion and try to identify your sins with the humiliation and suffering endured by Jesus for you and everyone else. I strive not to sin, not because I fear punishment, but rather because I love Christ and don’t want to add anymore to the suffering he endured then and the grief he endures now by my actions. Also, when you are going through the difficulty of temptation and you turn away, offer up your suffering to Christ that it lessens his on the Cross. That might help.

Truth be known we are all bad Catholics because we all sin and if we measure ourselves against sin we all fall short as we all fall short of Christ Jesus and the Truth.

What matters is to set your purpose to be a good Catholic. If you make this your purpose and resolve, which it seems this is what you have done by your conversion to Catholicism, then all you can do is be faithful in prayer and ask our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary and Christ Jesus to grant you many graces in order that you may love and serve God and your neighbour.

Keep repenting, the Saints were sinners also who repented and kept a firm resolve in Christ Jesus. If you set your purpose to be a good Catholic then you will be a Saint and each person can only do to the measure they are granted and this is their fullness in Christ Jesus, do that and you will be a Saint by God’s grace and you must not dispair but trust in Jesus and His Mercy that He is always with you and will grant to you everything He desires for you if you persevere in prayer and in the faith and ask a great deal of His generous Sacred Heart because He desires all good things for you. Ask for perfect virtues and do not ask for a little but ask for a great amount because God is generous to use the worst of us sinners to glorify His own Name.

So in the kindness in your heart towards Jesus, speak kindly and lovingly to Him and ask Him for the gift of perfect Chastity in order to please and glorify Him and persevere in asking and He will grant this gift to you.

In my Living Prayer of life.

Tonight I logged off my online game early to pray, not only for me, but for all my friends here. Everyone here has given me hope to continue on the right path.

you are all trully blessed. You all lead me back to the Church six weeks ago.

I guess I will figure out why we sin.

Thank you! I find it very helpful to stay from TV and computer in order to focus on praying.

You are in my prayer too.

we’re all bad Catholics. get in line…

but we try. and so do you.

giving up = failure.

watcha playing? I used to have this robot warfare type game before switching over to linux. It was pretty fun 🙂

When temptation comes, you know it’s a sin, but you still do it.

I dont understand that. All you have to do is say no and stay on the right path. Instead, you commit the sin anyways. Why?
It’s called free will. You have a choice. If you are giving your full consent to engage in behavior you KNOW is sinful, you are saying that the sin is more important than your relationship with God and that you are willing to risk separation with him for this sin.
Is it because you know all you have to do is confess and be forgiven? It doesnt seem right. Commit the sin and God forgives? Sin again, God forgives.
Actually, that isn’t right. If you are making the choice to sin because you think God will just keep forgiving you, you have not truly repented of that sin. You are not understanding the true nature of sin and how it fractures your relationship with God. In fact, you are presuming God’s forgiveness without truly being sorry. If I feel the temptation to sin and have the thought that it might be okey dokey because all I have to do is go to Confession and I will be forgiven, then I am presuming God’s mercy without fully repenting. Sin is never excused by the gift of God’s forgiveness. The idea is to stay in His grace all the time.
If God would say " Sin once and be forgiven, sin twice, shame on you"
Maybe, just maybe, we would try harder.
How about "sin once and be forgiven - sin with the presumption that all you have to do is go to Confession without true repentence, then shame on you.

Right now I am playing Ultima Online Mondains Legacy(2 accts) and World of Warcraft. I try and keep my playing to a minimum, because it is very addicting.

I listen to the news, my friend calls me up to harrass me about the scandal in the Boston area. He ridicules me saying “How can you belong to that Church?”.

I told him, even Priests sin and the Devil is laughing his you know what off. We have to stand together.

I truly believe in our Faith and no one will ever talk me out of it.

I know a man who once had a drink problem. He hasn’t taken alcohol for years and says that he doesn’t let himself get too excited or worked up about anything.Even a baby’s christening
can cause some stress.I was godfather for my cousin’s son and i was terrified we would drop the baby.
Listen to music that calms, rather than rock music which tends to
hype you up.Unfortunately, most TV programmes nowadays throw up at least some undesirable material. So,avoid them as much as possible.Personally,i don’t buy newspapers any more, except when my favourite soccer team has been playing the day before.
I depend on the TV and the computer for the day’s news.

QUOTE=outfctrl;2472737]Since I have been back to the Church (six weeks), I feel guilty all the time. I sin almost constantly, not just sin, but Mortal sins. It is freaking me out.
I slip and say the Lords name in vain…MORTAL SIN
I masturbate…MORTAL SIN
I look at a woman’s attributes and…think…another MORTAL SIN.
I turn down sex…but think how nice it would be to…Another MORTAL SIN.

I am really trying, but it seems like I live in sin.

How does a single guy do this? It seems I need to go to confession daily. What am I going to do?

I look at our priests when I go to Mass, and have the highest respect for them. Committing their lives to Jesus and the Church. The temptations of this world are almost unbearable, at least for me they are.

Sure could use some advice on my spirituality, its killing me. I want so bad to be a good Catholic, but it seems almost impossible. I pray and pray and pray to our Mother Mary, Jesus, the Saints, but still screw up.

Thank you for standing up and profess your faith right there.
Christ said: “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”.

Therefore, there are some people doing the wrong things, it is not going to shake our faith in Jesus. We trust in Him.

I had a discussion with someone on this topic just last week. It doesn’t matter which denomination you are talking about, they all
have had some kind of scandals. From what I learned, most
of these cases are 20 or more years old and many of these priests are elderly or dead now. I am not saying that makes it
okay, it’s a crime no matter who is involved and should be treated
as such. There are also plenty of cases of false accusations
as well. I remember Father Corapi talking about when the news
of the scandals first came out that he edured all sorts of things
such as people spitting at him because they saw his collar.
Priests are human like the rest of us and not immune to sin.
It seems like the media just loves anything negative it can report
about the Catholic church. There is no church you can join
where there is never any scandal and sin going on, it’s part of our
fallen nature.

Just wondering if you have ever thought of starting a Catholic, or Christian Biker Club?

There must be other’s that would like to get together and particpate in wholesome functions.

Just a thought May St. Michael help you.
