Your correct on both counts except that His body of believers are every where not just the Catholic Church.
I am a believer, a member of the body of believers, His Church.
Yes, true…but His Church is made of two things.
His Laws and then His flock.
You simply cannot have a flock without governing them with some laws -
parameters that are non negotiable…or the wolves would eat those who are scattered.
His Laws are not subject to change.
Does God Himself change? No. And neither do His laws.
Men change…He does not. Nor will He because men desire Him to.
Jesus said we do His Will, not that He would do our will. So we must sift thru all the changes and find the one constant. Whether we like the contstant or not really isn’t up for a vote. Know what I mean?
Altho we are all believers, how and what we believe and if we were able to seek what to believe could make all the difference in the end.
I dont know - but its something to think about.
The church then met at members homes, and the strength of the church was in the unity of its believers.
True, people needed guidance for there was not written word to draw from and had to rely on the senor members for instructions.
The people are what is the pillar that stands out against all the evils of this world.
To merely belong to a said church, does nothing unless the people in it stand against the world.
Meeting at home because they didnt have money at first - was borne out of necessity.
BUT remember when the couple sold land and held back some m money and they died immediately for doing so…?
Why?
Because the members were giving lots of money to the ministry to build up Churches.
The Apostles maintained poverty - but they needed to procure the Churches.
And as a side note - archeology as well as scriptures can show us the first HOUSES had altars.
IT wasn’t the houses themselves, but the altars and the HANDS of the Apostles and their Bishops who could confect the Bread and Wine to make it the Eucharist.
It was the Apostles and the Bishops whom taught [until midnight in the case of Paul]
So when the CHURCH is called the house of God - it is the magersterium [the Laws] and not the people, who are the pillar of truth.
How does one rely on man who are the students to be the truth?
No God didnt build His Church upon the members, but upon Peter who would be the shepherd of the members and do as Jesus commanded him to do…
‘Peter - feed My sheep.’
"Peter, feed My lambs.’
It is the ministry [magesterium = laws and doctrines and sacraments] that feeds the flock thru the shepherd in place by Christ.
Its more than just the students - the poeple - it is the whole collection of an Institution governed by the Laws of the Lord.
Feelings are as important as knowledge.
If one had knowledge that one’s football team won, as the Steelers did Sunday, would that not set off an emotion of triumph?
Feelings are subjective.
Just as Eve ‘felt’ it would be ok to have the same knowledge as God…her feelings led her.
She went by impulse, by emotion [pride] and not by what God gave them as law. TO NOT eat from the tree.
Its too subjective to rely on.
Its not law.
It is OK to get excited about the Lord’s loving us, because we know that we are victorious as well.
And that’s OK by me for you to let me know what you “feel” about this subject.
I can tell you love God!
Peace>>>AJ
It is ok.
I know many good folks who genuinely love the Lord who are not Catholic. And I am sure God judges their hearts accordingly.
What they are able to know - and what they refused to know - may also be something He may consider at our juedgments.
He may have led you here. I dont know the circumstances behind your being here…but it wouldn’t surprise me if He wants you to dig even deeper. After all - since you love Him, now allow Him to lead you to Him fully in His Church with His precepts and His Eucharist - His sacraments.
You must admit that truth exists and that He didn’t abandon us to our own devices.
