Hi ssejllenrad

You said
Jesus gave Himself up in atonement for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD… Not just us Catholics

To which I agree. by the way I am not catholic, I used to be
Thing is you sound like the other extreme of the argument some fundamentalists present when they claim that Jesus is their “own” personal Lord and Savior when they were “born again” or “saved”. As if Jesus didn’t die for the people who weren’t “born again”

ssejllenrad, when I was catholic I here people outside the church claim exactly what you said,
Jesus is their “own” personal Lord and Savior when they were “born again” or “saved”
and I would have no idea wha they were talking about. At the time I was also bible illiterate rely on the chatechism and my parents, priests and nuns to teach me. My aunt is a nun.

Let me try to answer your concern without getting biblical, there is a lot in my previous post to refer to.

God expressed **his love **for all by giving everyone the most precious gift anyone can have and that is a promise of reigning with Him for eternity in heaven.
There was one problem, God let us know in His word all have sinned and will be punished becaused a soul with sin can not be with a Holy God.
So how can God punish us and at the same time offer us eternal life?
God ansered that question by send His begotten Son Jesus to be the Saviour of the world.

The baby Jesus would grow up and at the age of 33 die a horrible death on the cross. Why? because he loved us and by going to the cross He carried every sin that man ever committed or will commit. In essence He took our place…become sin for us… and took the punishment that we sinners deserved.

Everyone who witnessed this all happen before their eyes did not believe Jesus was their Saviour even though they heard the message.

God makes it clear in the bible, that only believers can be in Heaven.
It does not stop there.
A believe needs to be born again and have accepted the truth of God’s promise.

It is in that promise that christians disagree.

I am a born again Christian and I have made a personal committment to Jesus and accepted Him in my heart as Lord and Saviour of my life.
Which means I am saved, forgiven of my sin by the blood Jesus shed, when I sincerly repent, turn away from sin and live my life according to the will of God. I now have a sincere want to stay away from anything which is displeasing to God. If and when I should fall to temptation by Satan, Jesus will forgive me…again when I repent and confess.

Anyone can make that personal committment to Jesus.

Isn’t God’s love is so amazing that He would sacrifice His son for us?.

All God asks is to believe that simple truth by faith in your heart so He can have a devine intervention and a personal relationship with you and guide you into the person He designed you to be.

God bless

truth

You have only partially received the Truth.

“Punish us and at the same time offer us eternal life” ???
I disagree with your connection. He is not punishing us for our sins - just souls in hell. They have chosen separation from God, not the other way around. The damned can’t be in heaven because they have chosen to be separated from God, not only in this life, but for all eternity.

If we are in sin, and we cooperate with His actual grace, so as to repent, we are forgiven our sins. Our souls become white as snow.

Faith ONLY is not enough. We must cooperate with God’s grace and repent, and for that we shall be rewarded.

James 2: 8 "If then you fulfill the royal law, according to the scriptures, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” you will do well.

Faith without good works is dead.

That’s The Truth.

ya know what is truth, it would have been more sensible to put your stuff on a new thread its hurting the continuity of this one. Perhaps I should start another one??

Please explain? I’m not sure what that sentence (highlighted) means. The Church did not take the place of Christ and to say there is no Jesus? 🤷 I don’t understand what your saying.

The Church *possesses * truth if it is loyal and obedient to Jesus who *is * truth. Jesus / God alone is truth. God and His Word Incarnate is the ultimate truth - not the Church. The further the Church strays from God/Christ the more it becomes a falsehood. Furthermore, the Church does not have exclusive possession of God - He belongs and comes to everyone, he desires salvation for everyone - not just catholics.
The Church is the Kingdom of God right here on earth. The Apostolic Bishops in Nicea in A.D. 325 stated that the “Church” the mystical body and spiritual presence of God is ONE,HOLY,CATHOLIC,and APOSTOLIC CHURCH. you are a member of this body in baptism but once anyone falls into mortal sin, you are seperated from her and denying this Truth is a sin against her. I am sorry this is hard teaching for you but it is what it is what it is and what it is:the TRUTH, Jesus Christ himself.

That’s too bad. We will pray for you to return to the fold.

BTW, what is the truth: your profile says you are Catholic.

Could you change that so members can know to whom they are talking.

thanks

Your original question had to do with the TRUTH. You are on a Catholic website asking a question on the Truth. I have been consistent in defining what TRUTH is and where to get it. The Catholic Church is the Fullness of Truth. If you do not want to obtain the Fullness of Truth than I would recommend for you to discontinue any questions on a Catholic website and go search for partial truths on a non catholic website. If you desire the Fullness of Truth then go pick up The Catechism of the Catholic Church and go speak to a religious education director in a local Catholic Church and ask for more information. It would be wrong of me to sugar coat the Truth on a Catholic website and still represent myself as being Catholic. I believe I am on the correct thread.

I do not know where you got the message that I am not Catholic. I am fully Catholic in the One, Holy, Catholic ,and Apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ. Read my profile. This is clearly a misunderstanding.

Shalom

Faith is what saves, it is the “work” which illustrated to God you sincerely have Faith in him

I may be sorry I robbed a bank, repented and been forgiven…but if I go and rob another bank, how sincere was my confession.
Faith ONLY does not save us. Good works are essential to salvation, not just added on to faith. They are not just ‘illustrations’ of faith.

You apparently have little understanding of human nature. People can sincerely repent (even perfect contrition), and then sin again. That’s human nature. You cannot say their contrition was false or incomplete. Our human nature has been wounded by the sin of Adam.

Humans sincerely repent and then are capable, and may sin again. That is what temptation is to us. We are inclined to sin again, but God’s grace is sufficient for us, so as not to be tempted beyond our strenght.

Your attack on true remorse and then unfortunately falling again seems to be like an attack on the Sacrament of Penance, where sinners are absolved of their sins, maybe even with imperfect sorrow (they are afraid of going to hell), but they are forgiven nonetheless. You demand perfection from humans; that is not always possible, is it?

You seem to have no theology on Grace. “Living according to his will” is a state. Actual grace is a movement, a help from God pointing us in his direction, even if we are in serious sin. That is how repentance begins…we are moved by God in his direction, and by cooperating with this actual grace we return to Him.

BTW THIS THREAD IS TOTALLY OFF TOPIC. SO I AM NOT RESPONDING TO ANYTHING FURTHER THAT IS OFF-THREAD

What is Truth? On one post you say you are a fallen away Catholic, and then you attack Catholicism, then support it. You seem to have a dual belief system. Could you stay a Protestant, or stay a Catholic, but don’t confuse us any longer.

The thread is still off-topic.

whatisthetruth:
You mean they are yet to be forgiven according to your version of the word of God?

God gave the Apostles power to forgive sins. God didn’t use people in the Old Testament, e.g. prophets, to do his work? You mean Jeremiah was not commissioned by God to preach to his people to bring them back.

Are you questioning what Christ did in the New Testament in creating a Priesthood, just as there was a priesthood in the Old Testament? The priests of the New Testament would offer up a complete offering, a new Sacrifice, the bread and wine, to become the Body and Blood of Christ, real and true.

God does things his way, not yours. Christ did not have to die for our sins, but chose to do so.

He gave us Baptism, the Sacrament of Regeneration, to bring his new people into Covenant with Him.

He founded his Church on earth, commissioned his Apostles, and on Pentecost, He sent his Holy Spirit to be with his Church, infallibly, until the end of time. He gave us His Sacramental system as roadways to heaven.

God should not use human signs, and human people to accomplish his Redemption? You think little of God.

Your religion was founded by a human being, yet you reject human intervention. When was your religion founded. You reject John Calvin, and found another intervening belief system. Which of the 13,000 ways to God do you belong to? Where is the Truth in that? They all can’t be true. There is only one True Church, founded by Christ, the Catholic Church.

You have lost the Truth, my friend. The path to heaven has been compromised for you. That is what is the truth.

Well now its pointed out that there are 2 similar names, I cant be sure who Im speaking to.

Ive spent a considerable amount of time here, over 1000 posts so I think by now Im aware of it being a catholic website.

But I see you both are new here and perhaps dont realise the rules of engagement on the boards…

For now I will pick up some posts and start another thread and you all can continue discussion of faith, whos correct, what it all means on this thread.

btw to address your issue of stating how you know where to find truth and the defination of it, thats not what I was asking. 🤷 Im sorry you misundestood my question.

Im asking in the non catholic section what religious leaders claim to be the Truth. People can direct their answers to the new thread.

😃 thank you and you may return to the discussion at hand.
