I am very sad, poor and lonely

I am in financially tight times. Same as my mother and one other brother of mine who just had a baby. I am constantly in debt. I have no savings at all.

I am also very lonely and would like to meet a great guy to make a happy life with.

I am also very confused about the direction of my professional life. I am miserable with my current academic job that pays too little for a comfortable life. I can’t even afford a small, modest 1 bedroom apartment. And I find the required tasks and social atmosphere very unpleasant. But I don’t know what to do to change things. I took a copywriting course but I still have not started the business as I must complete the course first.

Please pray for me. I truly am unhappy.

But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (Ginny89), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. O Mary, my mother and Our Lady of Surprises, what a happy joy you caused the wedding guests, when you asked your Divine Son to work the miracle of water into wine. What a happy surprise for them since they thought the wine had run dry. I, too, Mary, love surprises and as your child, may I ask you to favor me with one today? I ask this only because you are my ever caring mother.

Your brother had a baby? That is interesting. A medical first? The sad thing is that free enterprise encourages us to spend and buy. We are programed to go into debt. Work very hard on becoming debt free. It sounds like you have a decent job, but you and your family are perhaps not quite careful when it comes to falling into debt. I have a 12 year old van and I intend to run the wheels of it until the tires smoke and send up smoke signals. “No more debt.” I have a second car that is 23 yrs old. It is my “just in case car.” No debt.

You would be surprised at how much better you will feel when the financial burden is lifted. Poor advice or comment? I’ve been there and done that and it can be achieved. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts.
 
May the Holy Spirit guide you through your difficulties. May you find hope and comfort in the love of our Lord who gave himself up for your salvation.

My brother did not physically give birth?!? His wife did. I just meant that he and my mother struggle just like I do. On top of which, my mother lives with her own mother who is over 90 and fully financially dependant.

I don’t own a car or any property besides clothes and a few kitchen items, a phone and a laptop.

Why do you assume I have a good job? Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for something but half of my money goes towards rent for one room in a shared house. In this expensive european city making about 2000 dollars a month is really nothing. The rest goes towards basic things like food and public transport. Whenever disasters happen at home, to my family, I chip in which leaves me with nothing to save. Things like death or illness or other financial troubles at home.

I know I will be relieved when the financial burdens are lifted, this really will be no surprise to me as you put it. I just don’t know that I can follow your recommended route. I have no flashy things to cut down on. Even my clothes are bought at modest stores. I have no designer things or anything like that. Should I cut down on the food, the clothes, the rent or the family emergencies?

I am sorry to hear of your struggles…I too am battling loneliness and depression and am currently unemployed. Every day is a battle, but I have to trust that God has his hand on my situation and this too shall pass.
