I called an animal "an angel" and offended a non-Catholic

Anything is possible with god. If a message is sent through an animal, so be it. You did not mean to be disrespectful. They had a fit over that simple thing, the problem is theirs, not yours.
I named one of my sheep “Angel” and stand by the choice. Reason follows for those interested at the end. I had a sticker made for my old car with the phrase, “Angels have hooves”. (I am a horse and hair-sheep person.) I never had a complaint from anyone.
The comfort, peace, closeness, and companionship of animals show me they are a great gift from god.

How Angel got her name: She was about a month old, and of course, small. Two other sheep started the “head-butting” thing. Typical to work out dominance in a group. She would walk right in between the two sideways, and stand there. They stopped. Two big adults were not going to squish the baby. They moved, she did too. Happened many times. They gave up. I named her.

This seems harmless.
People could object if you thought animals went to heaven or are holy, though I wouldn’t object so strongly.
