Pretty much every problem of the OF is solved in EF. Now if only they’d get rid of OF, and translate EF to English for all the non-Latin speakers, the problems would be nearly all solved, and the problems with the mass would be completely solved.Nope, not every problem…only the ones associated with hand-holding.
Please note that it is against forum rules to pit one form of the Mass against another or make denigrating comments: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=9880813#post9880813OF people hold hands during Pater Noster? How horrifying.

I’m just stating, in my opinion, if EF was translated it would fix the issues. I personally wish for it to be gone, and many OF people wish for our mass to be gone(The reason I signed up here was because someone said we Traditional Catholics are Gnostics). The EF is perfect for all people, just some don’t give it a chance because it’s in Latin(Thus they expect something completely different), but if we translated it to English it would bring them over, and not allow for liturgical abuses. I still accept that people who go to OF are having a valid mass(if done correctly, i.e. no abuses), I’m not attacking it, I’m just stating that I wish the issues would be solved by simply translating EF to English for the non-Latin speakers. Please note that it is against forum rules to pit one form of the Mass against another: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=9880813#post9880813
I was simply pointing out that it’s not only the Mass in OF in which people encounter things, because of a personal preference, they are not comfortable with.
Okay, but the Mass in OF is perfect for everyone, too. It just depends on your preference. I’m sorry someone said Traditional Catholics are gnostics. Those in full union and obedience to the Magisterium are most certainly not and those that have decided they know better than the Magisterium are in schism (at the very least). I’m sorry if my first reply to you was harsh- people get very passionate about defending their preference for Mass and as of late, there have been many threads and posts where people have gotten downright hostile for insisting that the Mass in EF is the only Mass that is “really” valid and the rest of us are getting close to being heretical if we attend the OF.I’m just stating, in my opinion, if EF was translated it would fix the issues. OF isn’t really perfect for everyone. I tried to go and it was horrible, I hated it so very much, I felt no presence of Christ at all. EF in English would have no issues that I can see, expect for maybe the Catholics who like to go just like it’s Protestant church and not be bogged down by our “Gnostic” ways(No Traditional Catholic is Gnostic, they can’t be a Traditional Catholic and a Gnostic). The EF in English wouldn’t allow litigurcal abuses, it would bring the Schismatic back, and OF would feel better at home with English I guess(I can’t stand English personally and would remain at a Latin parish).Okay, but the Mass in OF is perfect for everyone, too. :ehh:OF people hold hands during Pater Noster? How horrifying…
You should be ashamed of your comments. Some things are better left unsaid and that definitely applies to those opinions you have about the Mass in OF!!OF isn’t really perfect for everyone. Frankly, there are many, including myself, who could say the same about the extraordinary form. I personally have no affinity to it. However, I am at a parish that offers the EF every week. Personally, I do not know how to celebrate it, and I am going to soon begin the process of learning. I would offer it if enough of my parishioners wanted it, but I personally have no affinity for it.OF isn’t really perfect for everyone. It’s scary to think of those things and how such things affect the Church and people.:ehh:
Horrifying? You have a singular concept of horror.
I said I don’t like English in any form of mass, I never said it was bad for everyone, but it’s not for me(It’s my preference, and I accept that. I have tried OF, and DL in English, I hated the language very much). How is EF not perfect for you? Is it too long? Is it too much kneeling? Many who are out of communion with the Church in Rome(I myself am not) would come back if OF was gotten ridden of in favour of an English EF. How will every faithful Catholic see my comments as offensive, if many agree that they dislike English(myself including, unless you are trying to say I’m not a Catholic and/or faithful). I just said I dislike English, this applied to any form of mass. You should be ashamed of your comments. Some things are better left unsaid and that definitely applies to those opinions you have about the Mass in OF!!
You need to step back a bit and see how your words really sound about the Holy Mass. I find your comments offensive and I think every faithful Catholic that reads it will, too.
It’s not hard to attend, it took me 3 masses to know how to do everything. If you don’t know it, how can you say you don’t like it? It’d be like saying you don’t like a pop, but you’ve never drank said pop and know nothing about it. If you attend more often your opinion will most likely change, and I am not saying it’s not valid(I said the opposite, I said that translating the EF to English, than replacing OF with that would fix many issues). You just said the same would apply to the EF for what I said, including the presence. I personally did not feel the presence at all, but that was my own personal thing, some might, but I have not and I shall not speak for those people as I am not them, nor do I know about what they thing.Frankly, there are many, including myself, who could say the same about the extraordinary form. I personally have no affinity to it. However, I am at a parish that offers the EF every week. Personally, I do not know how to celebrate it, and I am going to soon begin the process of learning. However, my personal pference is beside the point. The Church, and the Holy Father, have said that the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite is approved and valid. With respect to your post, it sounds to me as though you are guilty of that which you are accusing adherents to the ordinary form. It sounds to me as though you are placing your personal preferences over the explicit directives of the Church.
My apologies if I am misinterpreting your words, but when you say, “OF isn’t really perfect for everyone. I tried to go and it was horrible, I hated it so very much, I felt no presence of Christ at all,” it sure sounds to my ear like your placing your opinion over the authority of the Church. Whether you felt Christ’s presence or not, would you acknowledge that He was, in fact, present?
The presence of Christ is real, whether we feel it or not. We should live by faith, not sight. The Mass we have is a Holy Sacrament and it should be recognized as such, regardless of feelings, or appearance of bread and wine.OF isn’t really perfect for everyone. I tried to go and it was horrible, I hated it so very much, I felt no presence of Christ at all.
As the Great John Paul said, “Be not afraid.”It’s scary to think of those things and how such things affect the Church and people.
I said I didn’t feel it, and I will never attend OF ever again(not even for a marriage or such things) personally. I never said it wasn’t holy, I stated what I felt, and just because you say I should have faith in it does not mean I will attend it when I have a full communion Church that offers EF, and only the EF.The presence of Christ is real, whether we feel it or not. Protestant things scare me when they are in our faith, as they are not the true way to Christ(Not saying they won’t lead to Christ, but they are not the correct way). It’s horrifying to see such things, it makes me very sick. There isn’t even anything in VII about hand-holding that I’ve read.As the Great John Paul said, “Be not afraid.”
Those are some pretty strong words! In the very probable case you will be, at some time or another, in a place that does not have the EF Mass, you would rather be in mortal sin instead of attending the Mass in OF? Apparently Church teachings are not that important to you. Pathetic that you wouldn’t even offer up it up that you had to attend a Mass you “hated” ( using your earlier words). It would do you well to learn and practice some humility, along with learning what being a faithful Catholic involves. It includes not acting like a spoiled brat and conscientiously putting yourself in mortal sin because you “would not serve” by refusing to attend the Mass in OF “ever again”. Spiritual pride is not a good thing to be a slave to.I said I didn’t feel it, and I will never attend OF ever again(not even for a marriage or such things) personally. I don’t leave my town really, and when I do I take either direct flights(for drives out of the state), or direct drives(In which there are no towns between me and the next Latin MassThose are some pretty strong words!
