Hi…
Errr, I just wanted to mention that it’s
“anti-Semitic” not “anti-semetic.”
Jews are SemITES, not semETES.
God bless,
Jaypeeto3

Well, at least we learned something on this thread! 😉

Thanks for the info. I’m sure it’s something that we all will have need to know in our future travels here! 🙂

Another bit of trivia for you - the Semites are descended from Shem, one of the three sons of Noah - hence “sem” for “Shem,” and “ite,” signifying “offspring of.” 😃

Can never learn too much!

More trivia.

“And Noah began to be a husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.”

Genesis 9:20-29 in the King James Version of the Bible

Many preachers in the pre Civil War South quoted this passage to justifiy slavery. Ham was the father of Canaan and lands to the south, i.e., Africa.

My DH and I read George Weigel’s book ‘The Cube and THe Cathedral’ It was excellent. It really explained about how Europe’s population is dwindling and how they in general are becoming more and more secular and atheistic and ‘allergic to Christianity’. Mr. Weigel’s point is to encourage us to pray for Europe and to not let the ‘European problem’ become the ‘American problem’ He cited the start of the problem in modern times is more closely tied to the causes of ww1 (aside from the differences between Aquinas and Ockham.)

I was discussing this with some devout Catholic friends who attend Trad. Latin Mass and we got into a discussion of the causes of ww1. My friends (in amazement and dismay I found out that my other trad. latin rite friends agree!) that ‘in their opinion’ that the Jews had a lot to do with whats wrong with like everything! I was amazed. I do not hold this opinion and I don’t think you can just make that generalization. They feel that the assassination of the archduke of the Austrian-Hungarian empire (the last catholic empire in Europe) was a plot against catholics (I’m thinking - whoa! That’s not in the history books!) and how Stalin was a Jew and other evil leaders were too and how the Rothschilds got England to ‘trick’ the Arab nations. My friends believe that Jews are always trying to tear down Christianity. I don’t believe it. They also have all read the book "the Grand facade’ and state that JPII was a bad administrator and basically cannot say anything nice about him.

I was so disturbed by what they said that i called Colin Donovan’s radio show and talked to him about this. (I’m posting this because I want a more thorough answer. He did a good job but he had to be short because it was on the radio and it was the last question.) He stated that JPII has said something that was pro-Jew and he said that at that point the trad. Latin Mass goers became anti-semitic in like retaliation. I cited the wonderful book about Mother Angelic by Raymond Arroyyo which praises JPII immensely for his administrative powers and Colin agreed and stated that in his opinion trad. latin mass goers feel that EWTN was the ‘magisterium’ of the US and they didn’t like that. Some of these friend are into E. Michael Jones who has some VERY interesting things but some of it is really out there - sorry. I guess I’m asking for a further discerning and articulation of this. Its still a little foggy for me. I have a little son and don’t have a lot of reading time. I’m typing now at 2:34am becasue he is sleeping. I’m hoping you all can fill in the blanks for me. Thanks!

I do not believe that all trad. latin mass goers believe this. This is a group of 3 couples who happen to go to trad. latin mass in the NJ, PA, and CA. It is isolated and I do not mean to offend any or all trad. latin mass goers. I just want to understand my friends’ words. We’ve talked further about it and about Colin’s response and they say that Colin’s response was not very thorough and that they are in the right. Help!
While I can’t offer up an opinion on most of your post. I am a trad-latin mass goer and I have nothing against the jews. Just so you feel a lil better.

I occasionally go to a traditional Latin Mass approved by my bishop because I like the reverence of the Mass, and I want to learn Latin again. Am I anti-Semitic? No.

I once gave a small menorah to a Jewish co-worker for Hanukah, and a Jewish teacher once received Hanukah stickers with a dreidel and candy for her students from me. I had a great deal of Christian love and respect for Cardinal Lustiger, a Jewish Catholic who recently passed away…

Do I like all Jewish people? No. But neither do I like all those who call themselves Christian. I really dislike and loathe the behavior of some politicians, entertainers and others who call themselves Jews or Christians and then advocate such things as abortion (expecially so-called partial-birth abortion), same-sex marriage, acts of sodomy, and all other immoral behavior that deifies the very teachings of their own Holy Books–the Torah and the Bible. All the other Jews and Christians who try to keep the Commandments and teachings of their religions have my respect, even though I might differ with them on certain points of theology.

What exactly is a Jewish Catholic?

When I said Cardinal Lustiger was a Jewish Catholic, I meant he was a Catholic Cardinal of Jewish descent. He was a convert to the Catholic faith.

I failed to mention that another reason I like the traditional Latin Mass is that the priests at the traditional Masses where I go are very loyal to the Majesterium of the Church in their teachings.

Excuse me, please, for misspelling the word “defies” in my orginal post. I put “deifies” by accident. I hope that helps clear up any confusion I have caused.

I’ll debate the nature of grace and truth with Jewish people. But I’ll have no part in Jewish conspiracy theories which are designed to slander Jewish people. Jewish people are not insterested in ‘destroying’ the Catholic faith-- and many are more than willing to work alongside Christians to speak out against the injustices of society.
Thanks Ex. Check’s in the mail!

Pro jewish posts like these we can do without. Dress it up anyway you like, you have made it clear that you view the majoriity of jews as atheistic, immoral, media controlling, abortion holocaust supporting animals. If that ain’t anti-semetism, then I guess I don’t know what is. I won’t be returning to this thread. Enjoy your victory.

And this angers me so much. Who is anyone to throw stones at liberal or secular Jews? What about the so many more Catholics who abort, who use birth control pills, who fornicate, adulterate, causing sacrilege by still going to Communion, the many C&E Catholics, etc etc. I do not know if all TLMers follow the aal of the dictates of Holy Mother Church. When I was in Israel twice, I was told that the there are many secilara Jews. They are getting comfortable. BUT, there are also many secular Catholics. Let us mourn for ALL of them…

A person cannot be both a Jew and an Atheist at the same time. It’s a contradition in terms to call someone a “Jewish atheist.”
Actually it is not.
A Jewish atheist or atheist Jew is a person of Jewish ethnicity who is an atheist, meaning they do not believe in God. Because Jewishness encompasses ethnic as well as religious components SOURCE

It’s very sad that subjects like this keep coming up, while little or nothing is said about the bigoted anti-Catholic views still held by many Jews today. Let’s not forget all the furor that erupted over Mel Gibson’s The Passion Of The Christ.

But it is legal to be anti-catholic and spew hatred and bigotry towards us.
I think especially in todays world Catholics should have similar laws to protect them !

My gut feeling is that we will never see any laws protecting Catholics. The media and everyone else are having way too much on our behalf.

In that light, there shoudl no anti-anything at all. It would be such a beautiful world if we supported each other in love and charity. But criticism will exist…and sometimes it is well deserved. But when we criticize, it is ant-whatever…🤷

First off, let’s make it clear that in 1938, Pope Pius XI condemned anti-Semitism.

Secondly, without endorsing the premise behind your question I think you deserve a straight answer. Traditional Catholics put a lot of emphasis on the depradations of international Freemasonry, and there are several sources indicating that a high proportion of the Masonic leadership is (at least nominally) Jewish: hence the term “Judeo-Masonic.” The same could be said about the potentates of international banking, like the Rothschilds and Schiffs.

There you have it.
