I think I can see the world accepting a true humanistic set of values that will work to end poverty and the population’s welfare. I think I can see where corporate CEOs are replaced by CEOs with these humanitarian values. I think I can see where people work for spiritual rewards more so than for monetary rewards. There will be a new world order where LOVE thrives.

Well of course this is more of a state of mind and emotion than hard fact. While your statement sooths the emotions it does nothing to restrain a sense of the very opposite when viewed from the lense of recent mass shootings, national overthrows, and increased, rather than decreased policing of our personal and extraperonal lives.

Can it be that you’ve been taken by a certain illuminist urge that has so often proved abortive and perhaps even dangerous?

If the statistics showed that more men were getting married and playing with their kids, I might agree with you, but as long as growing numbers of single moms are making it on their own with taxpayer help, I’ll ask you: what you are smoking? The most humanitarian thing a man can do for his community is love the mother of his kids, but that trend is dropping. The big trend is away from religious spiritualism and toward materialism, unless you mean meditiation. I don’t know where you are coming from unless you too have abandoned reality and subscribe to Hopes and Dreams.

I really hope that this does not happen but it does seem that a lot of the Western world has adopted values that are not true values. For example, many see nothing wrong with abortion or gay “marriage”.

I’m not saying when these things will happen, but I have faith in God to eventually change the value system of the world in which we live. It takes faith, hope and LOVE on our parts to make it all happen!

Again, I subscribe to faith, hope and LOVE! In God we trust!

Based on what? So we can feed the world one day, then what? Who will do the replacing and on what grounds? I’ve been hearing the new world order stuff since the 1970s. And I’ve read about previous Utopian ideas. They don’t last.

Peace,

I can clearly picture the Hippies - young, doped up, misled. We never got the Woodstock Nation they promised either.

Peace,

LOL! Perhaps this is what the Mayans meant when the world ends on Friday! 😃 The rise of a different set of values!

Robert, I hate to be a bubble buster, but remember we live in a fallen world where we must deal with the effects of original sin. As Our Blessed Lord said, "“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

The “heaven on earth” view you are subscribing to is the same one that gave rise to communism, the “hippie” revolution, the new age movement, etc. These have all led to increasing decadence, relativism, corruption and inhumanity. God will indeed restore mankind, but not in this world. That’s what heaven and the second coming are for. We, of course, should do all we can to build His kingdom on earth, but I would not expect the whole world to follow us anymore than it has in the past 2000 years. And most of us Christians are far from the models of virtue we should be, too!

I think I can see that happening. It’s going to worse before it gets better, of course. History’s like that, where the pendulum swings both ways. You have periods of darkness, and then periods of light. Then, it’s back to darkness and then onward to light.

Right now, I think we could really pour a lot of our energy in addressing the problem of abortion, via prayer and work. That darkness of children daily murdered in our country really has to go away, so we can really start to live in a truly humanistic era.

Words of optimism seem to go nowhere here, but I believe in a personal God who has the power to fight the Deadly Sins that plague this world. When we enter a world of true democracy the majority will vote for humanitarian values! It’s already set in motion, and nay sayers cannot stop its momentum.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, (God’s will =LOVE)
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Our Lady does predict that one day (after Russia is converted) there will be a time of peace. Perhaps, what you are describing here is a part of what we will see during that era.

Unfortunately, barring divine intervention like what we saw in the city of Nineveh, I think we are much more likely to see the short term predictions of our Holy Mother come to fruition before we’ll see the peace and harmony:

"[Russia] will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated."

There are Catholic prophets who agree with our brother Robert.
“…A great change will come to pass, such as no mortal man will have expected…the Hand of Almighty God will work a marvellous change, something apparently impossible according to human understanding…a new mankind will come into existence…God possesses the key to everything. Blessed is he who will then be able to praise him, having obeyed all his commandments. And the great monarch of the world will create new laws for the new mankind and will cause a new age to begin, in which there will be only one flock and one shepherd, and peace will be of long, long duration, for the glory of God in heaven and on earth…This will be an age of consolation in which God will console His Spirit of the affliction and the great tribulation of the preceding age. All the nations will be united in the Catholic faith. The sacerdocy will flower more than ever, and men will seek the kingdom of God in all solicitude… Many saints and doctors will flourish in the earth. Men will love reason and justice. Peace will reign in all the universe, because the divine power will bind evil for many years…It is in that age that the relation of the sixth Spirit of the Lord will be known, that is to say the Spirit of Wisdom that God diffuses over all the surfaces of the globes in those times. For men will fear the Lord their God, they will observe the law and serve it with all their heart. The sciences will be multiplied and complete on the earth…Men will be enlightened, so much as in the natural sciences and in the celestial sciences. Finally, the Sixth Church, the Church of Philadelphia, is the type of this sixth age, for Philadelphia signifies friendship of brothers, and again guarding the heritage in union with the Lord. Now all these characters convene perfectly in the sixth age, in which they will have love, concord and perfect peace and in which the powerful Monarch will have to consider almost the entire world as his heritage. He will deliver up the earth, with the aid of the Lord his God from all his enemies, of ruin and of all evil…All the nations will come and adore the Lord their God…Men will live in peace and this will be granted because people will make their peace with God…man himself will be so astonishingly changed by the hand of God, such that no one can imagine humanity…”

On many occassions since the Second Vatican Council, popes have invoked the idea of a “New Humanism” variously called “Solidary Humanism” or “Integral Humanism” (the latter based upon the thought of the Catholic Thomist philosopher Jacques Maritain). Our current Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has mentioned this numerous times most recently this month on the 3rd of December:

en.radiovaticana.va/articolo.asp?c=644256

en.radiovaticana.va/in2/articolo.asp?c=644374
December 03, 2012 - Pope Benedict expressed hope that the new evangelization will usher in a new humanism and a renewed cultural commitment that will replace individualism, materialistic consumerism and technocracy with the culture of brotherhood, generosity and love based on solidarity
Now from the Second Vatican Council:
“…The joys and the hopes, the griefs and the anxieties of the men of this age, especially those who are poor or in any way afflicted, these are the joys and hopes, the griefs and anxieties of the followers of Christ. Indeed, nothing genuinely human fails to raise an echo in their hearts. For theirs is a community composed of men. United in Christ, they are led by the Holy Spirit in their journey to the Kingdom of their Father… For the human person deserves to be preserved; human society deserves to be renewed. Hence the focal point of our total presentation will be man himself, whole and entire, body and soul, heart and conscience, mind and will**…We are witnesses of the birth of a new humanism, one in which man is defined first of all by his responsibility to his brothers and sisters and toward history.**…”
***- Gaudium et Spes (Second Vatican Council, 1965) ***
The Pope also mentioned this “New Humanism” in 2008, in a letter to Cardinal Martino.

Also:
“…If development calls for an ever-growing number of technical experts, even more necessary still is the deep thought and reflection of wise men in search of a new humanism, one which will enable our contemporaries to enjoy the higher values of love and friendship, of prayer and contemplation, and thus find themselves. This is what will guarantee man’s authentic development—his transition from less than human conditions to truly human ones…”
***- Pope Paul VI, POPULORUM PROGRESSIO, 1967 ***
“…The Church, the sign in history of God’s love for mankind and of the vocation of the whole human race to unity as children of the one Father, intends with this document on her social doctrine to propose to all men and women a humanism that is up to the standards of God’s plan of love in history, an integral and solidary humanism capable of creating a new social, economic and political order, founded on the dignity and freedom of every human person, to be brought about in peace, justice and solidarity. This humanism can become a reality if individual men and women and their communities are able to cultivate moral and social virtues in themselves and spread them in society. “Then, under the necessary help of divine grace, there will arise a generation of new men, the moulders of a new humanity”…”
***- Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, 2005 ***

Do you live within an illusionary bubble? Sad to say, but all my life I have mostly seen the exact opposite of those things, even now I see things as getting worse. Only a very few are becoming like what you mention. Maybe I was just unlucky not to see better. It is a wonderful vision to have, but there is always a thick line between imagination and reality.

O ye of little faith! 🙂

What is impossible to human understanding and foresight, is not impossible to God.
