I’m 20 years old in college and work living with my parents. I was using my mother’s laptop a while ago (she lets us use it, but isn’t very tech savy) and stumbled upon a link in the browser on a dating website for married couples, and it was one of the “most viewed websites” furthermore when I looked in the history it looks like she frequently visits the website. I won’t say the name of the website, but it’s definitely a dating website for married couples and it’s slogan is “Life’s short , Have an affair!”
My family is Roman Catholic, both parents, and it worries me now because why would my mom be on married dating website?
This is my dilemma and question, what should I do? I feel in one way that if I were to bring it to my dad, I would be dishonoring my mom in a way and potentially causing them to fight/argue/stress and I don’'t want to be the one that could ruin their marriage, they have been married about 20 years, both are their only marriage (never remarried etc). My dad’s already under a lot of stress in life and he’s very fragile at the moment.
On the other hand, I also feel by not telling my dad, I’m dishonoring him or lying to him, since I’m keeping something secret from him, but as I said he’s already under so much stress with work and mental health issues (he was in the hospital a few weeks ago because he had mental breakdown at work related to stress) and I don’t want to be the one to push things over the top.
I have kind of decided I will just let it be, and that it’s not my business to get into, if it’s meant to get out and be known to my dad, it’ll do so on it’s own and he’ll find out on his own. So at the moment I have been just ignoring it, and if it’s my dad’s meant to find out it will be at another time or by another means, and feel fine with that in my conscience due to the current circumstances.
But what do you think?
