When you eat your morning cereal… and I guess you could eat it for lunch or supper if you wish…(man you got to cover all your bases here or you will get nailed)… anyway, when you poor the milk on your cereal… do you flood it as in the days of Noah, or are you like my wife who puts four or five tablespoons worth in, tunnel’s down to the bottom of the bowl, creates a pond and pulls dry cereal in from the side then eats…:nope:

…drives me nuts, i got to have milk at the top of my cornflakes…👍

…i told her, that normal people put lots of milk in their cereal, and she disagreed… (can you imagine that, her disagreeing with me?)

Thoughts?

A porridge peninsula in a milk lake, and some brown sugar vanishing into the porridge when the milk breaks its banks, is fine by me 😃

I leave the milk to gather in a swamp under my cornflakes - much more effective than pouring it on top ##

I eat toast and marmalade in the morning, haven’t taken cereal in years.

Used to take porrige, but likewise haven’t in a long time.

Dear Mr. Ghost,

You didn’t cover ALL the bases, I work the night shift, at a hospital and therfore, I eat “MEALS” not breakfast, lunch, dinner, or supper.:nope:

That said, I put about half a bowl of milk into a full bowl of cereal. :twocents:

Cereal??!!??! Round these parts we rip metal pieces straight off the old car sitting out back and wash it down with some motor oil. Muriatic acid for dessert if you’re lucky

Grape Nuts, LOTS of milk (Grape Nuts don’t get soggy), and frozen blueberries so the milk gets slushy and you have to break apart the blueberry chunks with the spoon. I remember my Grandma on my Dad’s site always eating Special K topped with Serutan and Tang.
I only eat grape nuts if they’ve been totally covered in milk then warmed in the microwave for about a minute then pour honey all over them. Cold grape nuts breaks the teeth. Warmed is nice and soft, like oatmeal. You need to cover the cereal because it soaks up the majority of the milk you pour in. I like some milk left for the cereal to be bathed in. It mixes nice with the honey that way. I only like warm milk on warm cereal (cream of wheat, oatmeal, grape nuts). Otherwise I want my milk to remain nice and cool for the cold cereal choices.

I personally have managed to even out the milk/cereal ratio in the bowl. I pour enough milk in where I can see it without drowning the cereal but also not leaving it dry where you need 32 ozs of fluid on the side to wash it down. That way the cereal doesn’t get too soggy (I don’t eat fast so too much milk isn’t appetizing to me) and the milk doesn’t get warm. If by chance I have too much milk left in the bowl, my first reaction is to put a bit more cereal in it to sop it up. I usually drink juice with my cereal so I don’t like to drink the leftover milk in the bowl.

The less milk the better, IMO primarily because that means I’ll eat less cereal and therefore won’t gain extra weight because I’m busy filling the bowl over and over. You know how it goes…if you eat from the bag of chips, you’re likely to eat more than you should. If you take a serving then put the bag away, out of eyesight, you’re less likely to want more.

I don’t diet, I just watch portion sizes and make sure I eat somewhat healthy foods during the day. Including a bowl of healthy cereal (Wheat Chex, Kix, Raisin Bran, etc.) If I want a treat, I’ll eat Cookie Crisp or honey nut Cheerios.

But that’s just me 🙂

I do the Noah thing—flood the cereal with milk, then when I get done eating the cereal, I have a good excuse to put more cereal in. You know, because there’s a bunch of milk left over.👍

BTW, I miss ya Spaceghost!!! I’ll bet you’re still “trolling” around out there!

Another one for your wife!
Only a small amount of milk for me. And your wife and I have the same technique too!

When I’m not eating bacon, eggs, and cheese smothered in salsa, I usually pour enough cereal into the bowl that the cereal comes right to the rim. Then I pour the milk in and keep pouring until I see the pile of cereal “shift” as it begins to float.

So that’s one point for Spaceghost.

Now here’s the problem with women’s suffrage. My wife eats her cereal dry! So our votes cancel each other.

I use a little bit of milk. Enough to wet my cereals! My husband on the other hand uses a ghastly amount of milk and has plenty left over. I guess it’s a case of opposites attracting here!

Amie

You all eat cereal???

To each his own, but…

…ick.

I don’t like it anymore. I ate it as a kid, but really can’t take it.

I eat peanut butter on crackers for breakfast, with coffee and a banana.

Hey neighbor, I live only minutes from the Rainbow Bridge on the US side…with the heat in this area for the last month, going downtown to the Falls and seeing it as nice ice cold milk would be loverly wouldn’t it? 🙂

Hubby takes the kids there to get sprayed with the mist just to cool off sometimes.

God bless!

I do that too! Berries are a MUST on Grape Nuts and I love frozen blueberries.

I am also lactose-intolerant, so I like to use enough soy or rice milk to cover the Grape Nuts with about a 1/4 inch of extra milk, then add the berries. Grape Nuts are also great with a 6-oz cup of yogurt dumped on top of them.

PS- Carol Ann, if you’ve tried soy milk and don’t like it, try rice milk- a much milder flavor. I like both.
