I hate arguing about religion

There were divisions of faith even in St Paul’s time and as he predicted there still remains divisions. People from different faiths argue they’re right and others are wrong. Everyone thinks they’re right. It just drags on and the stubbornness can be so frustrating.

Makes me wonder what God is going to do to fix it…
Then don’t. Dust off your sandals and move on, as Scripture recommends.
The Holy Spirit will handle things.

Read today’s Gospel reading. The last couple of lines sum it up nicely. 🙂

I believe something like this too. In order for our religious conflicts to resolve, there will have to be a big change, some big event that is obvious to most people. You say Christ will return, I believe the Messiah will come. May this happen soon!
Christ will return, but the world will have to get much worst than it is now for this to happen.

When God reveals Himself to a person, whether at Judgment or some time before, that person will no longer be able to lie to him or her self and will be forced to accept the truth.

The problem has never been that the truth was not available. The problem has always been that too many people prefer comforting lies over hard truths.

God already gave us commands that address that. You say you are Catholic, correct? Well you follow the One who says…

I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I don’t see any wiggle room there, do you? We are called to proclaim the Truth of Jesus Christ. That is why He founded the Catholic Church. Eleven of the twelve apostles died doing just that including our first Pope.

His successor Pope Benedict says…don’t forget that mission…

catholicworldreport.com/Blog/3466/pope_emeritus_benedict_xvi_dialogue_cannot_substitute_for_mission.aspx
“The risen Lord instructed his apostles, and through them his disciples in all ages, to take his word to the ends of the earth and to make disciples of all people,” retired Pope Benedict wrote. "‘But does that still apply?’ many inside and outside the church ask themselves today. ‘Is mission still something for today? Would it not be more appropriate to meet in dialogue among religions and serve together the cause of world peace?’ The counter-question is: ‘Can dialogue substitute for mission?’
“In fact, many today think religions should respect each other and, in their dialogue, become a common force for peace. According to this way of thinking, it is usually taken for granted that different religions are variants of one and the same reality,” the retired pope wrote. "The question of truth, that which originally motivated Christians more than any other, is here put inside parentheses. It is assumed that the authentic truth about God is in the last analysis unreachable and that at best one can represent the ineffable with a variety of symbols. This renunciation of truth seems realistic and useful for peace among religions in the world.
“It is nevertheless lethal to faith. In fact, faith loses its binding character and its seriousness, everything is reduced to interchangeable symbols, capable of referring only distantly to the inaccessible mystery of the divine,” he wrote.

Yep I’ve heard that many times. We need to change. Well it looks like we won’t be changing anytime in the near future so what’s our merciful Heavenly Father going to do about it?
God never leaves us alone He always sends us Guidance. Again it is up to each of us to find that.

God will shorten these days to protect us from our own selves. How that is unfolding is nothing short of amazing.

God’s GONNA LET YOU do the fixing:D

Know your faith very well

Live it publicly as a witness for others

Share it when the HS gives you the opportunity too; with facts and charity [NEVER ARGUE]

Defend if and when necessary

That friend is what God wants YOU, me and everyone to do:thumbsup:

God Bless you,

Patrick

So does truth matter? Does Jesus words matter? John 14:6

Going from Protestant to Catholic is like going from standard definition TV to high definition TV. I still have a SDTV and watch it from time to time, but man the HDTV makes things so much clearer.

In the end I think God will judge fairly as only He knows our hearts. That being said, once truth is revealed to us we are expected to believe it and standfast, regardless of others urge to fragment because of pride.
Hi, LA,

I agree with your 2nd paragraph entirely. I think it’s good to do what we do here in the non-Catholic forum by exchanging our beliefs, doctrines and dogmas. Each of us do need to listen to the Holy Spirit through the Word of God to understand the Truth. We will all stand before God and be “judged” according to our deeds both good and bad. Thank God, He sent His Son to be our final atonement so that we can inherit eternal life with Him.

The average Jane and Joe Christian spend time in prayer and devotion as well as worship in a way that, for many of us, they have grown up with. We depend and have depended on the leaders in those churches to give us sound Biblical teaching. Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world and won’t be until Jesus comes back as He promised. Some of us, as we grow in our relationship with Christ may search to find the place and Truth that He knows is best for our continued growth. We live in a world that has been fragmented from sin and, all of us should take a cue from the Catholic Church to look at each other as “brethren” - brothers and sisters in Christ. If we keep our eyes on Christ and our ears to the Holy Spirit we’ll understand the Truth and be strong against our foes.

God bless everyone! Stay strong in our Lord Jesus Christ!

Personally, idk if I would say that I hate arguing; but I do find that the people arguing often forget that we as Catholics are part of the Christian religion.

Excellent post, Rita.

Every church, everywhere, has it’s problems.

What really matters is the disposition of our hearts and our willingness to answer whatever call He has for our lives. And during your journey, if you now know something to be true then stand for Truth and the building up of the kingdom. But do so with gentleness and respect 1 Peter 3:15

.

When all have faith in the true God, divisions will end.
Faith is God’s grace, to which I respond.

When all
1 listen to God
2 hear him
3 come back to him with all our heart
then divisions will cease.

Good luck (we still have hope).

Absent that, read Revelation for God’s answer to division.
I think I’d rather just work on my faith in quiet humility.

The sacraments are efficacious but they are not an inoculation against division.

Might suggest looking at interfaith events/organizations. Can’t speak for every church and faith, but I can’t actually recall having heard anything negative about other faiths in my own church. We have interfaith workshops and dialogues all the time with Lutherans, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, etc… And the similarities are always highlighted, not the differences. And where there are differences they are explained in the context of that faith tradition, rather than simply labeled wrong and tossed aside.

I’d suggest seeing if your own church has something similar, or if not check other churches of your faith in your area.

I agree what you’ve said. However the Sacrament of Marriage for instance is for unity despite difficulties that appear between the spouses. If division/disagreements exists between spouses the Sacrament if followed up according to its Spirit, the Spirit inoculates and unity is restored, yet both husband and wife must keep working on it for new challenges will come.

It will definitely happen soon. However, the muslims are also expecting the Mahdi to Return - he is also a Messiah.

So how will you react if their Messiah arrives before yours does? How will Christians react to a muslim Messiah?

We need to receive both the muslim Mahdi as well as Jesus when he returns with equal enthusiasm.

They will both resolve all the differences we have in our various religions once and for all.
