I am going to be starting the RCIA in the fall, and have been trying to dedicate myself to Catholic studies. But as much as I am trying to make myself a better person through prayer, I keep feeling like I am not worthy. I have a tendedncy to drink too much on the weekends, and it makes me sad. But for some reason I keep doing it. I also look at what others have and feel bad about myself becasue they may have something better than I. I have a good life and a great wife with a home. We are also considering having children as we both are turning thirty, but I need to get myself in the right mind. I want to be a positive thinking person and dedicate myself to being a Catholic. I chose to be a Catholic after alot of study, and I feel so welcome. I just want prayers for myself to be a better person. Sorry to all that it is so unorganized. I just feel real lost and sad today.

Do not ever apologize or feel bad for asking for prayer. The only ones who do not need prayer are in heaven. You will be kept in my prayers for your drinking problem and successful RCIA program. I would suggest that you discuss with your priest your drinking and see if he has any good advise.

Well, you’re far from the only one who feels unworthy! It’s a big club!

Dear Lord, please help Your son to trust in You for growth, knowing that what You hope for is that he continues to try.
Give Him trust in you even when he fails or falls short. Let him know how much You understand and love him for who He is.

Please help him with his drinking issues.
Help him to express his gratitude often for the gifts You have given him.
Help him to practice and persevere in thinking positively and joyfully.

Help him on his journey to become Catholic and to grow in his faith, hope, gratitude, and love during his life.
Thank You, Lord Jesus

You have my prayer. Trust in the grace of God. When I went through RCIA I went to mass hungover from hanging out until seven in the morning partying and carrying on with my boyfriend. By the time Lent rolled around and I began to face receiving the Eucharist, grace began to work in my life. Trust the process, trust the Church, trust God.

Have you tried a local Saturday evening Mass before you go out? Or even an hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday evening? That will definately help to keep your behavior in perspective.

And never feel unworthy in asking for prayer here. Remember the parable of the Pharasee and the Publican.

Praying for you here!

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate currently. Don’t apologize for needing help, that’s why we’re here.

God, grant us the courage to change the things we can, the serenity to accept the thing s we cannot and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen.

Praying for your intentions…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The Lord has told us to ask for what we need. Sometimes I feel unworthy too but after many hours of sitting in front of the blessed sacrament (I recomend you do this and ask Jesus to make your heart like his) I see more and more how much God loves me. I’ve said a prayer for your intensions.

Hey we all need prayers, I will be sure to say a prayer for you tomorrow morning at Mass. God’s peace be with you.

I’m praying for you now! Never worry about asking for prayer,
we all need it a lot.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Short reading Colossians 1:9 - 11 ©

Through perfect wisdom and spiritual understanding, may you reach the fullest knowledge of God’s will. So you will be able to lead the kind of life which the Lord expects of you, a life acceptable to him in all its aspects; showing the results in all the good actions you do and increasing your knowledge of God. You will have in you the strength, based on his own glorious power, never to give in, but to bear anything joyfully.

I will certainly pray for you. Never worry about asking your brothers and sisters in Christ for assistance. Those who are able will happily render any aid they can give. I myself just updated my signature so that every post I make also asks for prayers for myself.🙂
