True, there is still a risk, but within a marriage and with treatment, the risk is minimal. Even if the STD did get passed, herpes is not fatal and it’s not like it would be passed on to anyone else since the partners are monogamous…
It could get passed to any children they may have😦

Women who have genital herpes (and other STDs) usually deliver their babies by Caesarian section because passing through the birth canal greatly increases the baby’s chance of contracting the disease.

True…but what about those couples that have HIV and get pregnant?

**And now there is a vaccine that is supposed to protect women from cervical cancer as a result of HPV and they are looking at seeing if it works for men, too. I really haven’t done research on this because I don’t do this type of nursing, but now that I have been reading this thread and the link posted by YingYangMom(thanks), I might go do a little and see if it will add to this discussion. **

That is why close supervision of the obstetrician is crucial. If herpes episodes take place during pregnany, the child is not at risk. The only time the child is at risk is if the woman is undergoing an outbreak at the time of delivery. If that is the case then it’s an automatic C-section and the child is ok.

I don’t know about HPV though. I have not studied that, though I really should. I understand teens today are at high risk of coming in contact with that virus.

HIV is one of those more serious STDs. I’m not even certain people with HIV can be married in the Church because it would put the other party at risk to consummate the marriage (since condoms are not an option). I thought I read somewhere on these boards that if it happened within a marriage then the couple would be called to celibacy for the rest of their marriage, especially since HIV is a fatal virus and can indeed be passed to children during gestation.

Nah, tried, got bored.

I don’t have the drive to do that.

Wow, you are never going to accomplish anything in your life, are you really that lazy?

Because I didn’t read the entire bible, or revise a post a made on a forum on the internet I won’t accomplish anything in my life?

I think accomplish absolutely nothing is a pretty big exaggeration, I’m already an honors student and I know which college I want to go to and what I want to major in. Hopefully I shall accomplish something.

Why not read the entire bible? It’s not that hard, only 30 minutes a day.

Here’;s a great guide to get you started. in pdf

I’ve read most of the children’s bible, pictures keep me motivated haha. I tried the regular bible, but I got really bored after like the first 10 pages.

But what are we here on earth to accomplish? Making good grades? Going to college? Getting a good job? Is that really all or is there more to it than that?

You’re the one who defined yourself as lazy. If you are, as you now say, motivated to study and do well, then I am happy for you. But faith is the last thing I would choose to be lazy about.

If God is real and He exists, I want to know Him as well as I possibly can since I’m hoping to spend eternity with Him. That means reading and falling in love with His Scriptures, not putting them aside because they are too “boring.”

God bless you.
