I would like to momentarily divert to correct myself. I think faster than I type sometimes and not everything manages to make it through the keyboard. Thought is PART OF the essense of existence, not all of it. As such it is direct evidence of existance: if you are thinking, you must exist in some way (physical or not, it just so happens that we have physical existance and physical senses, which, according to DesCartes, are reasonably accurate because it is good of God to give us senses which generally give us a real reflection of our created habitat).

What is real about the reflection? If you think about this long enough I believe you will find that the most real thing that the senses tell us which can be verified is perception of extensions.

We don’t know that colors for instance have anything to do with external reality, other than we assume that other people can have the same color experiences that we do. The same can be said of the things that we smell.
