I just thought I would share this with everyone. I have been accepted into the pre-novitiate of the Carmelites.

This is in Houston, TX. It is generally one year in length, you attend university to get the required philosophy for the seminary.

As I only have a two year degree, I will be there for at least two years. Then to the novitiate, internship, then seminary. Eight to nine years before ordination to the priesthood.

The pre-novitiate starts Sunday August 8th, but I have some out standing issues and am unable to make it then, so I have postponed my entry one semester, I will be entering in January.

I want to ask everyone for their prayers for thanksgiving as well as for your prayers for my formation.

Thanks!

Yes, in joining a religious order one does not have to undergo a ritual church change.

The Carmelites are the most Eastern of all Latin Orders.

I feel called to the active religious life. To community. We do not have any such thing currently in the Byzantine Churches.

I have met and am good friends with two bi-ritual Carmelite priests.

When I come to time for ordination, it will be done by a Byzantine Bishop. In essence I will be bi-ritual.

Great news David. We need more like you in the priesthood.

News like this will help others to consider a religious vocation.

Bi-Ritual, wow, never heard of that. Sounds awesome though. Congratulations, and pray for us as we pray for you.

Congratulations! Get ready for the humidity!

Keep us posted, especially before you leave.

David,
Glory be to Jesus Christ!
I am extremely happy for you! I know you were concerned about when you can be accepted and Januray will definated be a NEW start for you!

if you need anything, you know how to get a hold of me.

Dear David - study hard and know that people are praying for you! God Bless

Congratulations, David!

You will be coming to Houston at a good time, but be warned, it is our coldest time of year (it might even get below freezing)!😃

Peace
