I am also older, I turn 40 this year.

But I know what you are talking about. I would not want a very strict structure, but I can see good in having some, at least more than there is here. But then this is the pre-novitiate, I am sure things will be different in the novitiate.
Interesting.

Personally, I would prefer structure and order. But I’m younger (17), so maybe age has something to do with this.

AWESOME **News, ByzCath!! 🙂 **

I will be keeping you in my prayers. You will be a Wonderful addition to the Priesthood. Wish you could move to my Parish
after your ordination. 🙂

:blessyou:

Is that one reason why orders will not accept anyone over the age of 35?? People that are in their 50s have a lot of life ahead of them. I am in my 30s and feel that I have set ways myself. I think that having structure is great and healthy. While at the same time I like a little freedom with in reason. Scoob.
Essentially, yes. They want you to fit in and you need to conform somewhat. It is assumed that an older adult might stir the pot a bit too much and have a harder time changing old habits and taking direction. Plus, you’d have the difficulty of an older person who is less experienced in the community’s way of life than someone who is a number of years younger. Not to mention the rigors of a new way of life which the young are more likely to get accustomed to. It’s kind of a people problem thing, then, which they just want to generally avoid.
