Ok, here is the update from my interview last Thursday. I waited till I had an answer.

The pre-novitiate house was great, the guys in it are great, we got along very well.

The interview went well and the person I had the interview with had to talk it over with the rest of the vocations committee which happend this past weekend.

I got a voice mail last night saying things went well and that it was thumbs up. Talked today, had some concerns. Got a call back which answered them all.

I will leave either Friday or Saturday for the drive to Houston, TX. I start classes on Monday 1/23.

I guess I am now a pre-novice!

Good luck on your studies.

I take it we will see you less on the boards in the immediate future?

Also, unless you have multiple drivers, I would suggest you leave a little earlier if possible. I made the run from Philadephia to Dallas a couple of time and it took 3 days.

Thanks for sharing your journey with us. And thanks for serving us–now and in the future. I am awed that young men and women choose to serve the Lord and our faith. We owe the priests, nuns, and other religious so much. God bless you.

You were and are and always will be prayed for on the perpetual prayer for priests! God bless you…

I also want to add my heartfelt congratulations to you on this wonderful new beginning. I’ll keep you in prayer.

God be with you. We pray for vocations every Sunday, every mass, and at Scripture Study. Thank God for you.

I thank God that He has Guided you and I pray that you may continue to follow Him
I am discerning ny vocation to the Carmelites aswell, I have felt that I was called at 14 I am now 17 and am going through tests and trails especially now that the time is coming closer, I feel such strong need for the Carmelites and I feel that this is where God wants me why else would I have thoughts of doubt and my surrounding so strongly against this for the path of life in Christ. Well Now that you are up to bat, please pray for me to make it home, In His Will
Bless your Heart Sister

Peace be with you always

Congratulations ByzCath! I will remember you in my prayers, please pray for all of us here at Catholic Answers and also the Byzcath forums.

Congratulations David! We will also pray for you. May God Bless You.

I will remember you in my prayers and thoughts, please pray for us and may peace be with you.

I’m sorry that I am unable to congratulate you personally. As your studies permit, I hope that you find it possible to let me know how things are going.

Good luck and God Bless!

Your Brother, Guy.

Congradulations. I just went to a montestary discernment and two of my friends are thinking of joining as Benedictine monks. I’m considering the priesthood, but I left that weekend with a profound respect for monks and their lifestyle. I got to hear about seven monk’s testimonials and they were some amazing stories. I found that monks can not be steriotyped. There were all kinds in there, but they had one thing in commons: They all answered God’s call.
May Mary carry you all the way through your novitiate.

I just thought I would share this with everyone. I have been accepted into the pre-novitiate of the Carmelites.

This is in Houston, TX. It is generally one year in length, you attend university to get the required philosophy for the seminary.

As I only have a two year degree, I will be there for at least two years. Then to the novitiate, internship, then seminary. Eight to nine years before ordination to the priesthood.

The pre-novitiate starts Sunday August 8th, but I have some out standing issues and am unable to make it then, so I have postponed my entry one semester, I will be entering in January.

I want to ask everyone for their prayers for thanksgiving as well as for your prayers for my formation.

Thanks!
Congrats. And I will pray for you immediatly.

Congrats BizCath! Way to go!

Now if the Pope justs would let married men like me do it too! That’ed be GREAT! Every seminary would be full and we’d have to open new ones up to handle the flood. Oh well, I’ll just let the Pope do his job and I’ll obey as Christ told us to.
