Congrats Byz,

You will make an amazing priest as your faith is strong. I will pray for your success.

Wonderful news David 😃

It’s been a long time coming - but you are now on your way.

God will be with you every step of the way

David,

My brother, I am sorry to be so late in offering my prayers and congratulations to you. A variety of things have kept me from posting with any regularity, either here or at the Byzantine Forum, and I’m consequently a bit behind on the news. I saw a reference to this in another thread and went looking to find this.

I know how long you have considered and sought to discern the proper path to follow and I’ve had your vocation in my prayers for a long while. My best wishes and congratulations to you, as well as my prayers that God grant you many years of health and happiness in His service.

I realize it may be early to ask, but will you receive your bi-ritual faculties in the Ruthenian or Melkite Church?

Many years,

Neil

We are all happy for you, Congratulations,

May God give you Good health and proctect you always

Congratulations! May God Bless you on your journey to the Priesthood! I will remember you in my prayers:)

May the Lord bless and keep you,
May He let His face to shine upon yoy,
And grant you His everlasting peace!

Congrats on being accepted. It is awesome to see someone accept their calling for vocation. I will keep you in my prayers!

Hopeful you will enjoy your time in houston. I am born and raised and still live here and LOVE IT!!! The faith community is wonderful and very active… It is actually getting cold down here. Today (Nov 15) the cold front is moving in and we might actually see the 50’s. Like i said it is getting “cold”…

Congratulations. I hope through the spirituality of the Carmelites, you are able to get closer to God, and carry out His will for you here on earth.

Awesome! I had no idea that one could belong to an Order and remain in your own Church. I always thought the Orders were “native” to their Churches.

Does this mean that an Eastern Catholic could be a lay Dominican as well? If so that would be an encouraging factor for me to become Armenian Catholic in the future.

Peace and God bless!

Byz,

Are you still on schedule to enter this year? If so, do you know when you’ll be moving down?

ByzCath:
I just thought I would share this with everyone. I have been accepted into the pre-novitiate of the Carmelites.

This is in Houston, TX. It is generally one year in length, you attend university to get the required philosophy for the seminary.

As I only have a two year degree, I will be there for at least two years. Then to the novitiate, internship, then seminary. Eight to nine years before ordination to the priesthood.

The pre-novitiate starts Sunday August 8th, but I have some out standing issues and am unable to make it then, so I have postponed my entry one semester, I will be entering in January.

I want to ask everyone for their prayers for thanksgiving as well as for your prayers for my formation.

Thanks!
Excellent!

Ya know, I put this thread in my signature but then havn’t been back to check it out…

Sorry.

To Neil, if I do get bi-ritual facilties, they will be where they are needed I guess. I do have a love of the Melkite recession (I guess that is the right word).

To Ghosty, Yes you can be a Byzantine and a member of an Order. Same with the Lay groups. I for a bit was an Inquirer in the Brothers and Sisters of Penance.

To pnewton (and anyone else interested), seems I have hit a snag.

Seems they want to “re-do” the interviews. I fly down to Houston next Tuesday 1/10 and return home the following Thursday.

I did not find this out until mid/late December, that is did not find out about the interview “re-do”. I am unsure as to the reason but I think it might be that they are questioning my resolve in this. It is ok I guess just wish I could have known earlier so we could have gotten it done sooner.

Sorry to here about the snag. Keep us posted and welcome to Houston!

I am discerning the Carmelites as Well
May the Peace be alway’s With you
