How do I adress his misconceptions???

He doesn’t really seem to have any misconceptions. God did create us for His pleasure, to worship Him. That guy just doesn’t seem to think that God has a right to do it that way. He also thinks that denying the purpose for his creation, denying his full humanity, will make him happier than accepting his purpose. He also doesn’t seem to think that God actually loves us. He’s in full rebellion mode. Pray for him, but I don’t think arguing is going to help at this point. Just let him know that you don’t see things the way he sees them.

God made all of us and he gets to make the rules.

Matthew 25

It didnt’ sound to me like a serious discussion. The antagonist is merely a Troll stirring the pot. His position is not reasonable so how can you make a reasoned argument?

He has grasped onto an image of heaven that he doesn’t find particularly inviting. I suppose one of the things to point out is that he nor anyone else has a clue as to what heaven will be like or our nature. I mean, do we really know what it will be like to be in communion with God all the time or what it will be to be in that state in our new form? He doesn’t like the idea of spending eternity praising God. The Bible alludes to such an image but to extrapolate that into thinking that that is all one will do is rediculous. Then again maybe not… perhaps being in direct communion with God is such an experience that that is all anyone would want or desire. On the surface it might sound boring but I’m thinking it would be anything but boring. The problem is he’s trying to understand a divine existence in and from a mortal and finite perspective.

He then goes on to assume that while in hell he can form his own paradise. I’d point out that Hell is separation from God in the most profound and final way. This is something he can’t even begin to understand since as a human he has never been fully separated from God even in the state he’s in now, for it is only by the grace of God he exists and continues to exist at all. Therefor the hand of God is with him even if he fails to recognize it. To think that the utter stipping of ones soul from the presence of God will be anything other than eternal agony and that he’ll be able to merely wthdraw into his own mind and create his own paradise or round up a few other lost souls and band together to make a better existence for themselves boggles my mind. It’s a childish and naive perspective. How one is to get through that with reason I haven’t a clue.

Yes a right to keep us as slaves, HA so he created us, that is no excuse to guilt trip us into his narcasism…
He also thinks that denying the purpose for his creation, denying his full humanity, will make him happier than accepting his purpose.
How is being a slave to such divine tyranny to make me more human, I thought free will was what gave us that, something God was supposed to respect above all else, My purpose is not to be a puppet that is my own purpose, that I choose for my self…
He also doesn’t seem to think that God actually loves us.
And how could he, he has killed, maimed, and created things to just throw away, where is his love you profess???
He’s in full rebellion mode.
And rightfully so…
Pray for him, but I don’t think arguing is going to help at this point. Just let him know that you don’t see things the way he sees them.
Argument, you have no argument that could defend such a tyrant…

God doesn’t need any of us to defend Him.
To blame God for the evil that is done by His creatures is silly. We do not have to do evil. By giving us the freedom to chose between love and evil, God has allowed us to freely love. There is no greater love than that, in my opinion. If, however, I am forced to love someone or something that is not true love and has little value.

I do not see any evidence of what you claim God has done that is evil, but I do see that as evidence of the existence of evil - which God allows.

The book gives us a window, and yes this window is into a heaven of slavery, nothing less…
I mean, do we really know what it will be like to be in communion with God all the time or what it will be to be in that state in our new form?
Do we really know wheatehr or not this is even the truth, that God, sweet talks uss into beleiving so he can wrap the whool over our eyes…
He doesn’t like the idea of spending eternity praising God.
why should I have been created just for his narcasism, for his ego, how do you call that love??? Someone who doesn’t want you to do anything but worship him??? I seem to recall his jealousness at every turn too, it’s either worship and exahault me or I’ll make sure you sufer, some love that is…
The Bible alludes to such an image but to extrapolate that into thinking that that is all one will do is rediculous.
Right we’ll also have work roles in heaven, in other words in between bowing to him we’ll be stuck in a basic work camp, still doesn’t sound too appealing to me…
Then again maybe not… perhaps being in direct communion with God is such an experience that that is all anyone would want or desire. On the surface it might sound boring but I’m thinking it would be anything but boring. The problem is he’s trying to understand a divine existence in and from a mortal and finite perspective.
And you’re trying to but too much whimsical idealism to it, wake up…
He then goes on to assume that while in hell he can form his own paradise.
In the assumed hell that Augustine talks about we’re just thrust into darkness out of creation, which I would most enjoy, instead is not as hell really is…
I’d point out that Hell is separation from God in the most profound and final way.
Not to forget the fire and worms and nashing of teeth, it’s physical torture…
This is something he can’t even begin to understand since as a human he has never been fully separated from God even in the state he’s in now, for it is only by the grace of God he exists and continues to exist at all. utter fantasy trying to rationalize an unrational reality…
To be in the presence of God is existence, if God’s existence is crucial for everything elses existence, then logically without it it would not exist, so to be thrust into outter existence without his presence would hence fort bring unexistence and you would cease to be, so if it is true that you could be only be cast into outer darkness without his presence and still exist, then why would I feel agony without him???
This is a fools place and I shall not partake of it anymore, as of now I am gone fromt hese forums and do not bother to pray for me as they will fall on deaf ears…

The reality is that this is not a valid discussion being carried on - it is a series of nasty replies. Being told to ‘wake up’ is not a valid argument. If you are serious about trying to engage your mind in a real discussion as to the validity of God and why God allows evil in the world you need to set rules for engagement in that discussion. It really seems, from the description you are giving us, that you are trying to have a discussion with a 13 or 14 year old and not someone who is schooled in the art of either philosophy or rhetoric.

Wow—I’ll pray for you anyway, Valtiel. Obviously your rejection of God has not made you a happy and free individual.

Maybe he has never been in love. When people are so in love they want to just gaze into each others eyes, and love. Its the happiest thing they can do. God loves us better and knows us better than any lover. The relationship will be complete when we can love Him back. We will know His love and His glory and we will want to love and glorify Him. In Hell it will be the opposite. Extreme absence of love.
