He has grasped onto an image of heaven that he doesn’t find particularly inviting. I suppose one of the things to point out is that he nor anyone else has a clue as to what heaven will be like or our nature.
The book gives us a window, and yes this window is into a heaven of slavery, nothing less…
I mean, do we really know what it will be like to be in communion with God all the time or what it will be to be in that state in our new form?
Do we really know wheatehr or not this is even the truth, that God, sweet talks uss into beleiving so he can wrap the whool over our eyes…
He doesn’t like the idea of spending eternity praising God.
why should I have been created just for his narcasism, for his ego, how do you call that love??? Someone who doesn’t want you to do anything but worship him??? I seem to recall his jealousness at every turn too, it’s either worship and exahault me or I’ll make sure you sufer, some love that is…
The Bible alludes to such an image but to extrapolate that into thinking that that is all one will do is rediculous.
Right we’ll also have work roles in heaven, in other words in between bowing to him we’ll be stuck in a basic work camp, still doesn’t sound too appealing to me…
Then again maybe not… perhaps being in direct communion with God is such an experience that that is all anyone would want or desire. On the surface it might sound boring but I’m thinking it would be anything but boring. The problem is he’s trying to understand a divine existence in and from a mortal and finite perspective.
And you’re trying to but too much whimsical idealism to it, wake up…
He then goes on to assume that while in hell he can form his own paradise.
In the assumed hell that Augustine talks about we’re just thrust into darkness out of creation, which I would most enjoy, instead is not as hell really is…
I’d point out that Hell is separation from God in the most profound and final way.
Not to forget the fire and worms and nashing of teeth, it’s physical torture…
This is something he can’t even begin to understand since as a human he has never been fully separated from God even in the state he’s in now, for it is only by the grace of God he exists and continues to exist at all. Therefor the hand of God is with him even if he fails to recognize it. To think that the utter stipping of ones soul from the presence of God will be anything other than eternal agony and that he’ll be able to merely wthdraw into his own mind and create his own paradise or round up a few other lost souls and band together to make a better existence for themselves boggles my mind. It’s a childish and naive perspective. How one is to get through that with reason I haven’t a clue.
utter fantasy trying to rationalize an unrational reality…
To be in the presence of God is existence, if God’s existence is crucial for everything elses existence, then logically without it it would not exist, so to be thrust into outter existence without his presence would hence fort bring unexistence and you would cease to be, so if it is true that you could be only be cast into outer darkness without his presence and still exist, then why would I feel agony without him???
This is a fools place and I shall not partake of it anymore, as of now I am gone fromt hese forums and do not bother to pray for me as they will fall on deaf ears…
