I Just Converted Someone Today!

One of my friends from school is having a hard time with the church he is going to (Methodist) the pastor is very hypocritical, and condems his parishoners, (even though he himself was caught drunk at a party), he remembered me telling him one day that I converted to Catholicism from Protestantism (Pentecostalism), and asked me some questions about Catholicism and asked me what church I went to, I told him, He also seems to accept a lot of the Church’s teachings, especially mortal sin, venial sin, and purgatory. He said he wants to become Catholic, so what do I do now?

Contact your local priest or Adult Ed person in your parish to get some information about RCIA. I think they usually start around Aug/Sept.

Good job! In addition to RCIA, if there is a church group of your age, you can invite your friend to the activities. At the same time, keep on sharing your faith with him. Maybe you can bring him to Mass by explaining the liturgy to him beforehand. Also remember to pray for him.

Celebrate! But don’t take credit for the Holy Spirit’s work!



Find him an RCIA class to sign up for. They usually start in the fall. In the meantime, get him Catholicism for Dummies or a book of apologetics. Take him to Mass! Remind him not to take the Body and Blood, though. Introduce him to your Catholic friends. Include him in group activities. Teach him the Hail Mary. Get him a rosary and teach him how to use it. PRAY FOR HIM!

I would thank the Holy Spirit first, then get him a copy of Catholicism for Dummies. After that, a mass, then adoration. You can read him and how ready he is for all of this. But, ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance, as nothing that any of us do will come to any good without Him.

Get him some books. I like Peter Seewald’s interviews with our Holy Father. I find that people really like " God and the World".

Father Barron’s Catholicism series is top notch. There’s no excuse not to see that.

PRAY…PRAY…AND DO NOT STOP PRAYING…

The real work is just beginning…it is just going to get more difficult for you and him…the dark force will try to dissuade him…so keep praying…ask the protection of the BVM.

Take him to Mass…but not communion…introduce him to the priest…and RCIA. Talk to the RCIA person in charge of your parish…there is no reason for him not to start learning the faith…and PRAY.
