I kinda like the old forum for its ease of reading

What do you think?

Honestly? I feel like I have really found my feet on the new forums and don’t feel nearly as intimidated by the size of things as I did before.

I love the new setup. Especially the feature where you can go to all the NEW topics and don’t have to click each category just to find them.

Me too. I think us frequent posters find it easier now because we’re on here so dang much. OP: just stay, hang around, start clicking everything you see and within a week you’ll have the hang of it. 😉

Well, the Disclaimer on the mobile devices is enormous too. 😑

In general, I like the new setup. But, I miss the Ignore Feature. It is difficult for me to enjoy the forums without it.

While I am less upset with the update than I thought I would be, I have to agree and say that the old forum was better for its user-friendliness and common sense layout. I feel somewhat constrained using this new platform. It’s clearly catered to “iP___” users. Also the quality of posts has noticeably wavered as many have yet to return.

I like it the more I use it and some of the new bells and whistles make up for some of the ones that were lost with the change. I noticed that previews of the first post are back and I don’t have to click on a thread to get more details about the subject. I think admins are trying to be responsive and change what can be changed to make the forum as user-friendly as possible.

There is something I still miss that I can’t put my finger on but what I miss the most are the active members that opted not to transition to the new forum. If you guys are lurking, you are missed.

I think the quality of posts has drastically improved because CAF now allows freedom of thought and speech. And frankly, I’m glad to see the back of some members who censoriously enforced the ‘party line.’ By far the best improvement is the elimination of the army of moderators who arbitrarily handed out penalties and bans.

I’ve seen far too many posts here that have been flagged and hidden for seemingly no apparent reason. And I’ve seen an objectively horrible post go unhidden because not enough posters flagged it…I notified an admin and it was taken down.

I still don’t see the current system of moderation as an improvement.

The preview function by hovering over the new posts is a great time saver - something the old format lacked. Anyway, the Hebrews kinda liked Egypt once Moses lead them into the desert. Were they right? Our Lord said something about putting hand to plow and looking back… 😉

The other possibility is that other members might not have seen that post yet.

For example, I just recently saw a thread that had been closed after this new process of closing threads after 14 days after the last post on a thread.

If I would have seen this particular thread that was already closed, I would have replied to it while it was still open for comments/posting, but I didn’t see it. I’m still trying to get caught up with reading some threads on the forum.

So, I’m just saying that it’s entirely possible that members might not have seen the thread or post in question that you ended up flagging. 🙂

I agree the quality of posting has gone down. I don’t think previous bans or threads pulled were arbitrary at all. Some folks just do not realize how many people really don’t want to discuss the same topics over and over. Especially if no one is going to agree, or even concede a point or two. Some things just need to be let go. Especially if they are matters of discipline and not doctrine or dogma. I do miss some of the other posters. I have asked some of them to return but they feel like trolls have taken over. I try to reason with people, but once people get angry, there’s no more discussion.
Some people are not terribly computer savvy and are not willing to learn the new system. That’s also been evident.

It’s still very much a period of transition from what I can see. Everything on the internet changes from time to time, and it is always a difficult thing to acclimatize to. There are always bugs, technologically and socially. Hoping the bugs will bug off, wherever they come from.

I am quite used to this set up now. In some respects it’s easier to find things.
