Well that’s pretty darn sad…I am sorry but for people to state that someone has been their biggest influence in making their lives decisions for a negative view is not COOL!!! lol…Seriously…It’s like saying that I listened to I don’t know Usher and he influenced me to “make love in the club.” It’s silly…
Besides I went to Catholic school and I did rebel against my parents but even if I wanted to publicize it knowing I am a Catholic and will be doing something against myself and church like that would bring me down to my knees and pray that God forgives me for my sins!! That’s just wrong!!!

I mean, is normal to do that when you are a teenager, I remember chaining myself to a tree (not literally though) in college as part of a fight to protect a national park (in Dominican Republic) from being bought and turn into a all-inclusive hotel, and being sent to detention (in high school) for drawing a skull on my religion ed book. Then again back in the day we were mourning Kurt Cobain (sorry if I mispelled it) and listening to Guns n’ Roses (Axl Rose is another son of protestants who only was allowed to listen to Gospel…we know how that turned out… ). But I guess the moral values I was taught were stronger because even back then to me that (katy parry’s issue) would be too much.

God knows my search for HIM ended not so long ago (funny thing, it took me back to th ecatholic church). But I totally agree that song is rather catchy and completely inappropiate… like pretty much everything else on the media this days, proof of that is my little niece (age 3), she knows who Dr. Phil and Oprah are (thanks to a former nannny), she knows what a C section is and also the term ‘depression’.

I don’t wanna sound preachy (and I’m to young to give lectures about anything) but I think when we were teenagers we cared more about things, and as a nanny I know that kids today are a bit jaded, tune in to any of the channels they watch for half hour (shows like “next”, “the hills” and “gossip girl” )and you will see why.

Back in the day we faught for the environment and today they want to explore their sexuallity…

Gonna start referring to myself in the third person from now on. When I talk to myself they complain. I just tell them it’s the only time I get a polite answer.

I don’t reply. I just keep doing it.

Now my husband is pretty strict. They don’t pull the same things they pull with me. Don’t get me wrong…I got great kids! But…BUT…they push the envelope with me more, not with their dad. I must learn his technique. Deepen my voice and grow a few more inches. Hmmm…Maybe that is the secret. He’s big and scary sounding.

It’s true that’s the whole point, they make these inappropriate songs that catch your attention and make you want to listen. I am telling you I was in the car and the song-rythm was cool, I am a dancer, love dancing to r&b and dance music, so I was like “hey it’s a good beat to dance too” and my kids were with me in the car and then I was like “What the?” when I heard her say “I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it!!” I was like Oh no way!!! My daughter then asked me about it…And I felt so “phtooopid” because it has a catchy rythm you know? And then I was humming it at the gym and if it wasn’t for my bf that heard me I wouldn’t have realized it, I felt so dumb…But it’s true that’s the whole point for you to get caught up in it and to continue to want to listen to it…
I don’t know of any teenager that has never done something inappropriate really, I mean and rebelled the point is that most of us try to repent and keep things underwraps you know? And of course never make the same mistake 2x…but when it’s publicized like this it’s like “UHM” So now what do we do? You know?
So I try to keep my kids listening to cds in the car instead of the regular radio…if for some reason the radio is on and that song comes on I change the radio station!! I am not willing to deal with that…you know?

Well actually I hear it in our regular radio station, when it first came on it was put on every other song, lately though I am sure plenty of parents complained it comes on once in a while, not as often as before though and I am sorry but well deserved! The fact that they are trying to promote bisexuality or to publicize girl’s curiosity towards another is just not right…I mean fine, a girl can be curious fine whatever just seriously don’t bring it up as if it’s a good thing you know? Especially if you are religious? That goes against everything you are taught…
And I thought it was a curiosity thing you know because she says something like “it wasn’t planned?” or something like that…So I don’t think she was trying to make her boy friend jealous? In either case it’s wrong because it’s telling girls that it’s ok to take your curiosity further and who cares about your boyfriend you know? This song is demeaning, in a way, because it reinforces the behavior of lots of attention seeking straight girls. Go on an average partying chick’s myspace, and she may be straight, but she’ll probably have lots of pics of her and random chicks kissing and rubbing on each other while drunk. Lots of disclaimers about how drunk she was.

Lyrics that reinforce “oh, I was so drunk I didn’t know what I was doing!”

You’ll notice how much male attention it gets her, which is the entire point. The chick isn’t actually bisexual, because you never see her in a RELATIONSHIP with another woman. She just kisses other chicks in a club or at a party while lots of guys are around. She’s not bi, she’s just desperate for attention and slutty.

Another problem is that some people see girl on girl action, while one or both chicks are in relationships, as not really cheating. To those of us who are accepting of gays and lesbians, this is demeaning because it implies that same sex action is somehow lesser and doesn’t matter. Last problem I’ll bring up is that people think this sort of behavior=all bisexuals. No, sorry, random guy, I won’t make out with your girlfriend while you watch.

I’m not asking anyone here to agree with me on what I’ve said. I’m just offering an alternative viewpoint. I’m sure plenty of you have children who like this song and don’t care for the “homosexuality is wrong” argument. Maybe you can help them see that the song is demeaning in many different ways.

I understand what you are saying and this song does send the wrong impression…It does seem like stating it’s ok to go with the whole girl curiosity as well…you know?
I am not against people’s freedom of choice it’s just that I really wasn’t brought up that way so it’s a little difficult to you know swallow the whole girl on girl scene…And yes I understand now-a-days girls go to bars get drunk and definitely go for it and it’s for the attention and to get more guys involved as well…And it’s pretty sad how some girls are willing to lower themselves like that just to get a guy…Besides if a guy is willing to date someone who does things like this what will happen if he asks for more you know physical stuff, will girls start doing these horrible things just to make a guy happy and want them?

My husband is quite the scary one when angry with the kids. He just blurts out a few orders, and they do them. My dd will start complaining…and he will hold his ear and bellow…‘pardon me, what DID YOU SAY TO ME?’ ha I’m like…calm down…you sound like you’ve lost your mind, honey. He will reply…“You allow this nonsense to go on when I’m not home, I’m not allowing it!”

I think it will work on my kids when my kids have “cool” friends, right now it’s elementary time but even though most of the kids do the “soldier boy?” and saw a piece of the video one night and I started doing it infront of their friends they have stopped “cranking the soldier boy”!!! LOL
