Oh, I just got a brilliant idea that will turn them pale with horror. I’m gonna go put “I kissed a girl and I liked it” as my Facebook status.

(Let me tell you how much they hate that mommy has a Facebook account!)

I know the best way to make my kids never want to hear the song again is to learn the lyrics myself and every time it comes on, turn it way up and sing along to the “really groovy song” and hum it around the house and sing it with their friends in the car.

Same thing happened when I adopted some of their stupid slang phrases. Mommy started talkin’ like that, cuz mommy was down wit dat too.

They HATED it.

😃
You are so right! Good thinking! 😃 I remember when my son a few years ago, would make this silly ‘farting’ noise …I really did think it was funny, and asked him to do it a few times…he stopped immediately. He never did it again. He was like…‘stop asking me to do that, mom.’ hahahaha

There’s something to it…😉

My husband is quite the scary one when angry with the kids. He just blurts out a few orders, and they do them. My dd will start complaining…and he will hold his ear and bellow…‘pardon me, what DID YOU SAY TO ME?’ ha I’m like…calm down…you sound like you’ve lost your mind, honey. He will reply…“You allow this nonsense to go on when I’m not home, I’m not allowing it!”

Nonsense = not doing chores or talking back:blush:

I need to find platform shoes, and perhaps get a voice synthesizer to help me deepen my voice. Hey, it might work.:newidea:

The kids and I tease my dh…and tell him that we think he was born in his 40’s. lol 😃 Like he never experienced being a kid…or he will say…I was an angel. :getholy:
LOL now that’s just too funny!!! Mine gets like that too and it’s like “HELLO they are just kids!!!” and then he looks at me and will reply with something like “What nonesense I was never like this ever ask my mother!!” LOL

OMG!! That’s hilarious!! that’s a good one, I should do that too!!! LOL

LOL! Maybe you are married to one of my dh’s brothers.:ehh:

I told him I AM going to ask her next time I speak to her. He was worse, believe me! He’s one of nine kids…that mother is a saint!😃

I wouldn’t have a problem with my kids hearing that song whatsoever.

How on earth could knowing of the mere existence of lesbians damage them in any way?

It’s just a song. Lesbians exist. The song will not “turn them” into bisexuals.

You are correct but I just thought I should let you know, the woman who sings this song said in her bio that when she was a teen she picked up a “QUEEN-sound track” and they were her biggest influence…Now what could homosexuals have influenced her in when she was a devout Christian? I don’t know…but now-a-days everyone blames their bad habits on someone else…It’s pretty sad…perhaps you are right, the song might now make them be and yes they do exists and will always and have always but still aren’t you afraid she might be your children’s biggest influence?
I know I had to explain to my daughter why was it ok for a girl to kiss another girl? Or why a girl would want to kiss another girl?🤷

I would just have to accept that she had SSA. I am pretty much postive that a song is not going to be a factor in her sexual preferences.

RE. Queen. Millions of people (hetro and homo) have listented to this music. I just can’t see how this is relevant.

All you can do is explain what a lesbian is I guess.

I hear you but seriously, why would you really say “Queen” was your biggest influence, I mean if she would have said, “Queen’s music” maybe I would have been like Ok I understand they did make interesting music, great artists but if you think of their beings, homo-etc and she’s here expressing her liking girl on girl action, I don’t know you know? It’s questionable and definitely something to look out for…

for the record only one member of Queen is gay. The guitarist has a PhD in science. They are more than your average band.

😛 😛

I can’t get this song out of my head. It is sad that I read the title and knew what you meant.

OMG… do NOT diss Queen! They are one of the greatest bands ever! Their music is powerful, beautiful, haunting, and fun.

I think we need to have a discussion here about art. Art is one way people explore the human condition. ALL of it. The good, the bad, the evil, the saintly. The rapturous and the painful. If we are going to restrict art to only expressing or exploring that which is moral, well, then, there will be no art.

The song in question is a story about a stupid young teenager reacting badly to something her boyfriend did, and choosing a worse means of revenge. Nothing about it is nice or morally redeeming. But it is REALITY. The fact is, people behave badly and learn their lessons the hard way all the time. They express many of those emotions and experiences in songs, on canvas, in photographs, in poetry.

I firmly believe Michael Jackson is a seriously messed up child molester. Doesn’t change the fact that Thriller is one if the greatest albums of all time.

Freddie Mercury was probably actually bisexual, not gay. (And he paid with his life for his promiscuity.) Doesn’t change the fact that he had an awesome voice and used it to the fullest, and still to this day brings joy and emotion to millions around the world.

And the girl who sings this song may be, much like Pink, an angry or immature girl thumbing her nose at societal standards. Doesn’t change the fact that some people will like the music and be able to relate to it.

Honestly, people, if you think your children are going to turn gay because they heard a certain song on the radio, you have NO understanding of human sexuality. I get the point of not encouraging the idea that homosexual behavior is acceptable or desirable, and if you think the song does that, by all means, turn it off. If you do a good job of passing on your values and Church teaching, this song, nor any other, will make them think immoral behavior is OK. Unless they decide to disagree once they are adults, for whatever reason, and then you have no control over that. But it will have nothing to do with this song, and depending on how you taught your child, might have nothing to do with you either!

As for Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, or others like them… appreciate the good they did put into the world. Don’t ignore it because they turned out to be flawed people who behaved immorally.

If this is reality, then I want no part of it. This song isn’t art, it’s trash. It isn’t creative, it’s trash. Musically, there is nothing to it and her singing voice in this particular song isn’t all that great. Lyrically, it’s vapid. I also disagree with your interpretation of the lyrics. She did it because she was "curious’ this is the in thing to do now, apparently…🤷

Queen, Michael Jackson and et al were musicians. They could write music and lyrics that meant something. This song is trash. The video is obscene.

I’m not scared it will turn my children gay, however I do think it is inappropriate in every sense of the word. Yet another reason I don’t listen to current pop music and neither do my children…

People are so programmed these days by music its not even funny. mostly kids of course, they dont understand how there being brainwashed. +

The question is - is this singer REALLY singing about this topic merely to educate people? Or is she singing to glorify the behaviour, to make it look ‘cool’ (which inevitably means wanting other people to imitate it)?

More importantly, do you seriously think people are LISTENING to the song merely to be ‘educated’ about the existence of lesbians? As if anyone in the Western world is naive enough to be unaware of their existence? Or are they listening because THEY think the song is cool? (Just possibly meaning THEY want to imitate it?)

West annoys me.
  1. He rants cuz she was raised and FORBID to listen to anything BUT Christian music…um, maybe someone needs to let Chris know when religion is shoved down childrens throats they 99.999% of the time - do what folks? REBEL! 😉
Why don’t you go listen to him again? It seems that he said that exact thing. She was forbidden from secular music, and so she rebelled…

so no need to be “ummmm…letting Christopher know”

The problem isn’t that by listening to a song will some how turn everyone bisexual. This song is about more then just that. It is about that no relationship is important. She cheats on her boyfriend and doesn’t take the girl feeling into consideration. That is what is wrong with this song IMHO. Really is just a song about a silly teenager thinking she is cool cause she got drunk and kissed a girl and that her boyfriend should be alright with it. And really is that a good message to send to anyone ? Christian or not

Simple answer. People listen to pop songs if they are a catchy tune.

What is defined “Christian music” is too boring for words. Bob Dylan in his born again phase was probably the closest we have come to something interesting in “recent” times.
