I Know Why God Allowed Protestantism

I think it is wrong to think that God had to let this happen in order to save His Church.

Remember in the Old Testament? He wiped out entire human and only spared Noah’s family?

It was not the Protestantism that God allowed, but it was free will given to people and that free will caused Protestantism to happen.

Separating from His Church is the force driven by Satan.
I guess my facetiousness was a little 2 subtle…

But anyway, i totally agree that “seaparting from His Church is the force driven by Satan.” Maybe i needed to hear those exact words to confirm what has been going on in my mind for some time concenring this issue…
I mean, there are a lot of good things that come by way of the Pr “churches” but… well, now that i think about it, i used to have a boyfriend who was good to me sometimes and outright psycho with me @ other times… so what good is it to be good in some ways but… well, so wrong about things…
My life is abig Cross since i got back into the Catholic Ch, but that’s another thing i have to think about again: My life was 'hell" when outside Her also…
@ least now, i am at peace in my misery (plus i understand why i have those “crosses”… @ least i understand SOME of the reasons i have them… and can find meaning in them…:o
Anyway, thanks. 🙂

yes, I agreed with you; however, if I read it correctly, the OP seems to imply that God wants Protestantism to happen in order to save Catholics. I might misunderstand what he was saying though.
Again, i was being somewhat facetious… But i did want people’s opinions as to why God “allowed” Protestantism. I mean, he is God. If he really wanted it nipped in the bud, he could have done soemthinmg… But again, free will…
Anyway, i am getting a figurative headache thinking about the whole issue…
I sometimes feel closer to God in NO Church… just out in the middle of “nowhere” with no one but God and nature 4 miles around…
Even so, the closest i ever felt to the love of Jesus Christ (love that involved healing) was at the Exposed Blessed Sacrament.
Thank you, Jesus, for staying with us “until the end of the age.”🙂
:highprayer: :hug1:

God had to make the parable about the tares in the wheat come true and have validity, so he created protestants and users of ABC to make it happen. Doncha think?

He allowed it because He could see far down the road into the future. He knew artificial contraception was on the way.

I mean, If the whole world was full of devout Catholics “only” & had been all these 450 years (since Protestantism), we would have far fewer humans on the Earth right now… With contraception, sterilization, women’s lib…(etc)… & Catholicism, the human race may have died out by now… .
As concerns Catholicism…
How can you depend on devout Catholics to propogate the species…
since … Well,
Who do Catholics have for role models?

Jesus & Mary - both VIRGINS. And most of the saints were virgins… St. Jospeh may have been also (?)…

But thanks to Protestantism, well, those Protesters don’t want to be celibate… or at least not for very long… They don’t accept the celibate priesthood - 4 themselves or 4 anyone else… And, i hate to say it, but they seem to fall away from their devotion to Christ more easily than Catholics do… therefore, they fall into fornication more often… (I KNOW… i was outside the Church for a long time, saw and - sady - expeirneced many “things” )…
Anyway, just some ruminations on the possibilities of why God allowed (??) Protestantism… Maybe something had to be done to keep us from total annihilation… or whatever… 🤷
What do you think??
I think God started Protestantism because of people like you

…

But I have no idea why God allowed Protestantism, except, as Bishop Challoner proposes, to cause the Saints to stand out in greater contrast, and make their names to be known.

After all, if it weren’t for the Protestants, who would have ever heard of St. Ignatius of Loyola? 🤷
Also, when you read the Council of Trent declarations, think of all the Catholic doctrines that would not have been definitively spelled out if the Church had not been “forced” into it because of the Reformation.

But since God always brings good out of evil, I think the good we will get from the Protestants is the love of Sacred Scripture.

It is because of having to talk to non-Catholic Christians that I started reading the Bible more frequently. Simply because when we have to defend a teaching of the Church, they don’t accept anything but Scripture. After getting to accept the possibility that it has Scriptural backing, I can *then *move on to the ECF.
i love your website.
And it is true that the Protestants (sometimes) “have one over us” Catholics… their love of Scripture. Of course, that’s because that’s all they have… They don’t have the Real Presence, the Eucharist, etc… So the Bible is the only place they find Jesus… (in a substantial way).
Even so, i don’t like the idea many have that Catholics don’t love Scripture just as much. True, some don’t, but Catholics hear more Scripture than probably all the Protes. do combined… Most non-Catholic churches i’ve been to, well, the minister only reads one or two scriptures, then usually goes into a long-winded sermon about it (them)… and of course, that means he is putting his interpretation on things…
A lot of the time, P ministers interpret Scirpture the same as the C. Church does… but its those times when he doesn’t that is problematic… 🤷
Anyway, i plan to visit your website often. I particularly enjoy the personal testimonies. I loved the one about the young boy who took on the responsibility of his girlfriend’s pregnancy (I’m sure there was more than one?? I only had time to read a few of the stories… ) God bless… :o

I think some international travel and time spent around the world is in order…seeing some more of Catholics and Protestants around the world.

And you’re saying Protestants are* less* barren than Catholics? What a load! They abort and contracept more if anything than Catholics, certainly not less.

People of all faiths are definitely contracepting and aborting more - sadly and truly. But the Catholic church is by far the most vocal Christian denomination protesting and preaching against these practices! One of the few that still officially teaches against abortion in all circumstances and artificial contraception in all circumstances.
Any references for thinking / saying that Protestants support abortion?

Do you live in the USA? If so, how could you possibly claim that when opposition to abortion is one of the central plank’s to the Christian right’s political clout?

Maybe it was partly to help economic development in Europe after Catholics basically shut down Spain and Italy’s promising starts.

I recommend reading David Landes “The Wealth and Poverty of Nations.” - it’s neither for Catholicism nor Protestantism, but is a well researched economic history of the world.

Dude? Are you serious? First of all, catholics believe any form of contraception and sterilisation are wrong. It’s not uncommon for catholic families to have numerous kids. They teach the purpose of marriage is FOR procreation.

I don’t think God “allowed” protestantism. I think he allowed people to make a choice. Unfortunately that choice is one of the all time worst choices anyone could have made ever.

So, you’re saying that Martin Luther started the Reformation just so that he could charge interest like a Jew? 😉

Haha…congratulations on the wildest interpretation of any of my statements so far on this forum 😃

I thought we were talking about God, not Martin. They’re not the same, right? 😉 hehehe…

I recommend the book for a fascinating read, notwithstanding. Great info on the Chinese promising start, as well as that of the Islamic Renaissance period, and why both stalled.

I must say, you live in a lovely place too! I very much enjoyed my visits to Calgary and a little of Alberta.

If you haven’t been up the Banff/Jasper highway, you should definitely go - the glacier lakes are absolutely gorgeous in the summer time, and no photograph or painting does them proper justice; man-made dyes and pigments simply cannot reproduce those colours. 🙂

Yeah, I’ve been up to Banff and Morraine (sp?), and Jasper. Truly beautiful! I was at Lake Louise in spring…a feather-light dusting of snow as we walked around, ice covering part of the lake while the water closest to the shore was clear.

My brother and his wife stayed at Banff Springs for a few nights, said that was great. I’d like to…but I have more budget constraints 😦

I hear you brother - but the motels and chalets are reasonable, most of the time, and the scenery is just as beautiful from their windows, too. 🙂

I have been to Banff park. June of 1966 we went to Price George and accross to the park. they were just building the road accross and it was spring run off. Pretty muddy and all. There is a little town there called McBride quite breath taking. First time I ate moose was in a little resturant there.

I’ve never made it that far up the highway - I start from the south end (which is where I live), and it takes me most of a day to get as far as Jasper.

In my experiance it has been Catholics who have fallen away more. Most of my friends growing up were Catholic and didn’t follow the Church too close. I don’t think there any proof that one faith falls away more than another. It’s all personal perspective.

As far as why there are Protestants. I think it is because of free will. It was bound to happen sooner or later. People are people as I say. Everyone has their own take on things and religion was bound to be effected by it. I don’t think it’s wrong to be a Protestant or a Catholic as long as you are respectfully tolerent and glorify God in what you do. Some people for some reason or another will find truth in what it is they believe in. In their heart they believe their faith is true so it’s difficult to show them different. Christ be at the center. Peace be to all of us, Protestant and Catholic.

Jamie

I think the reason there’s protestants was to punish the Church for serious immorality by the leadership, look at Old Testament Israel, there’s plenty of parallels there.
Luther started off annoyed (rightly) with abuses in the Church, he then got carried away and started rejecting doctrine as well for no good reason.
The Council of Trent was what the Church really needed
