First of all welcome home and God Bless you and for the tough week you have had. Our prayers are offered for a better week for you and healing for that automobile contraption.
Second - you did not sin, you intended to go to mass and your car didn’t agree with you. If unable to attend due to illness, infirmity, inclement weather, or even inclement transportation, the obligation is dispensed if the heart is pure.
I once came home late from a weekend campout with the Boy Scouts and nearly killed myself, all stinky and smelly and still in uniform, getting to a late Sunday evening mass with my son and some other scouts only to find a note on the church door it was cancelled due to the Super Bowl!! What a hoot that was - it was not my parish for sure - and never will be.
Third - call the rectory or church office to see if some parishioners own or work at a local garage that may be willing to help out. Maybe they are printed on the back of your weekly bulletin from the church. A lot of times they will go out of their way to help other parishioners who are having a rough time of it and all you need to do is ask. I know you are knew - but don’t be afraid to ask. We are all worthy of good deeds and the love of Christ through the active good works and deeds of his children. Seek ye first - and just ask - and remember to repay it if you get the chance - a warm plate of cookies goes a long way. Good luck and God Bless. Hope you have a much better week.
Let us know how it goes.
