This. I had the same problem with my ex. Depending on state law and your legal situation the wife might actually have joint ownership. In my case, we’d been separated for months but hadn’t filed for divorce or legal separation yet. Call the police and ask but there might not be anything they can do.If you’re still legally married, then I don’t think you can report it as stolen even if it’s in your name. I think that it legally belongs to both of you so she can do whatever she wants with it. Maybe it depends on the state, but my husband (works in law enforcement) told me that this happens often and there’s nothing that can be done.
Regardless of what the law says, it’s still not right morally. I’m just stating that the police may or may not be able to help
You have the option of changing your locks and changing the car ignition or having a locksmith re-key it to keep her from stealing again. And, if it were me, I’d be calling a locksmith.
Also, check with your lawyer and see if any damages or repairs needed could be charged to her in the divorce settlement.

Thanks. I’m good. Life is generally good. I recently went back east and spent a week with my son at his college. I spend as much time as I can with my two daughters and my grandson. I’m just living life, but have this cloud hanging over my head. I’ve done what I’m supposed to do. I gave her every chance and then some to reconcile, but she just never tried. I moved out in May and just signed another 6 month lease last Friday. I’m in the protect mode now. I want to be fair, but I have to protect myself and my future, the future that was supposed to be with her. I have hired a lawyer to protect myself. Its not something that I ever thought I would need to do, but its the situation that I’m in. I believe that God has a plan for me. I’m not sure what it is right now, but I’m pretty sure that it will be pretty amazing.

Also remember that a car is only a material “thing”. You have your health. I bet you would give away your car for free if you had to choose between your car and your health.
It still sucks though that your ex is being so selfish.

No doubt about it. When I moved out I only took some clothes with me. Everything else is just “stuff”. “Stuff” can be replaced.

My lawyer has already sent her lawyer a letter outlining her sketchy tactics. I didn’t even want any of this, yet I’m the one who has submitted all of my financial paperwork. She still has not done that. That’s why nothing has happened. Her lawyer didn’t even file a proof of service when I got served papers, so the clock on the divorce never started ticking.

Hey, thanks very much. Haven’t really had any progress towards resolution. I guess the clock is ticking in that direction, but it doesn’t seem that way. The kids will be spending the holidays with me for the most part. The consensus on their part is that they don’t agree with what their mom has done and they aren’t going to fake it just for the holidays. All of our family traditions are going to remain the same other than one person will be missing. I’m going to keep things as normal as I can.
