You are in my prayer, Dylan. Pray God to grant you faith, patience, and perseverance. Remember Thomas who did not believe Jesus was raised from the dead? He did not believe it until He saw Jesus in person.

Jesus appeared and said to Thomas, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

Dylan, the bold text is meant for you and all of us. Although, you can ask God to give you some supernatural experiences if it is according to His Will, it is the virtual of faith that we should be asking of God day and night – not the supernatural.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate your help very much.

Today I was feeling so nervous and frightened so I prayed to Jesus and I felt a lot better.

The people on this site have been so helpful, thanks again.

yes, keep on praying to Jesus throughout your day.

Whenever you are happy, worried, tired, confused, nervous, you can always bring all that to Jesus and ask Him to help you. Also, Virgin Mary is our Mother, she knows how to help us closer to Jesus.

The more you keep your thoughts of Jesus, the more comfort you will find in Him.

I agree atheists who use evolution as a weapon against faith can often be distressing. I have encountered militant atheists myself on science forums (as one of my life-long passions was always science, especially Astronomy). I feel it is possible to accept evolution and be a Christian, though it is not an article of faith necessary to salvation to either accept or reject the theory. What Christians need to watch out for are positivism, naturalism or materialism which essentially try to deny that humans have a transcendant dimension to their being. We are material beings in a material universe which is good, but that doesn’t mean all reality is confined to the material and visible cosmos.

The thoughts have returned. I feel terrible, I don’t understand why this is happening to me. I just get these thoughts like “what if there’s no God?”, and I get really upset. Lately I’ve been feeling like I just want to die. I would never harm myself in any way but, I’ve been really feeling like I want to just lay down and die. When I do feel better and can actually sleep, the second I wake up I am frightened and doubting.

I’ve always have believed in the Book of Genesis and Creation and have seen evidence that the Book of Genesis is accurate and I think theistic evolution is unscriptural and totally takes away the meaning of Christ’s sacrifice. I’ve been watching the videos listed on this site: nwcreation.net/videos/ and they have been helpful and praying has also been helpful, too.

I understand that God could create man anyway he wanted to but, I believe theistic evolution completely contradicts scripture. Most people just except evolutionism without checking the facts. There are a lot of things that show how many things are wrong with evolutionism. Even after seeing all the things wrong with it I still have been having doubts, I don’t try to think about it, it just pops into my head and won’t leave.

As long as you don’t consent to the thoughts that pop into your head, you’re not doubting. You’re just being tempted, and if you resist and remain loyal to God, you’ll find yourself strengthened. I should know: I’m going through the same thing right now, and over the last month I think there has been an improvement.

On the subject of Evolution, you may want to check out a book called Darwin’s Black Box by Michael Behe. Also helpful is The Death of Evolution (can’t remember the author’s name, sorry).

One book I found very helpful and faith-strengthening is The Wonder of Guadalupe by Francis Johnson (especially the last chapter on all the scientific evidence).

Remember, though, that all the scientific evidence in the world, however convincing it may be, can never compel belief. Only the grace of God can do that. Reason is just the first step; we all have to make that proverbial “leap of faith” sooner or later. So the most important thing is to pray and to receive the Sacraments (especially the Eucharist). I know it’s hard, but hopefully you (and me) will get through this.

Hope this helps.🙂 I’m praying for you! :gopray: Please pray hard for me as well.

Today has been the worst I’ve ever been I am so frightened and scared.

I really feel like I want to die because I can’t take this anymore, I’ve even been throwing up, is there some kind of ceremony where a priest can drive evil spirits away?

Today I went to my therapist and she says that I have what is known as “Scrupulosity”. Today was extremely depressing; I’m really frightened of leaving my house and I’m constantly shaking.

I have always believed in God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Since Tuesday I’ve been extremely upset and sad, I’ve been crying I am so upset. I was on the internet and some athiests were acting as usual in their arrogant way preaching evolution. I always have believed in creation and I feel thiestic evolution in contradictory to the Bible. Everytime the athiests have said this stuff, I’ve just brushed it off and forgot about it, but on Tuesday i just got the strangest feeling, and I’m feeling as though I am losing my faith. I’ve talked to several priests and both believe in thiestic evolution.

Wednesday night I prayed to God and I think I recieved a message. I was looking around on TV and I stopped on a Christian network, and the man on there talking, Andrew Wommack, was talking about exactly what was happening to me. So that night I went to bed and I started believing again, but this morning I started douting.

I was crying all this morning and was praying. I do believe in God, but, I feel like something is trying to prevent me from believing.

Please I don’t know what to do, I really need some prayers. I really need some help.

Thank you.
First and foremost, may the Lord grant you peace and calm you.

There are some things on earth here that have just enough leeway that people go round and round over them like cat’s and dogs. Can you, in your wildest imaginings believe that your Father in Heaven wishes us to be so torn up inside over these types of matters? Your heavenly Father loves you, and wishes you peace. He requires only that you love him, and your neighbor, and he dwells within you. No fear.

My biggest advice is to move away from this issue for a while, and focus on a different area of theology and scripture. Ask Our Lady to help you through this, and don’t be hesitant to pray the rosary.

Speak to your parish Priest regarding your doubts and fears. Usually just a change of focus will help immensely when you are in intellectual or theological peril. Favorite Psalms, or scripture passages. Intercessory prayers to some helpfull Saints.

God loves you and will not leave you hanging because you have been bombarded with all sorts of conflicting information about some issue or other. Maybe this is all His way of saying you shouldn’t focus so much of your spirit on one matter. Maybe you need a more macro approach to your theology. Accept the overall plan, rather than the historical details.

There are many folks, much smarter than I who have reconciled science and the bible for themselves with all sorts of marvelous theories, some of which are quite soothing. It’s possible that all are correct.

To my thinking it doesn’t matter all that much. I watch the melding of science and God occur with a kind of fascinated, yet slightly detached attitude. I know full well what God is, and what He has done in my life. I know what He did for my wife, and so many others in my life. Whatever sorts of interesting arguments folks have with each other about this theory or that passage doesn’t effect the working of God in our lives one iota. He is there. He knocks. Open the door, and he comes in and dwells with you, and you with Him. And that…you can count on! No matter the whims of the argumentative community.

Yours in Christ,

Steven

I’m going through the same thing right now. It’s a test of faith. Don’t worry, it will end eventually.

You might find this site interesting: livingmiracles.net/ On the same topic, you might want to check out this video:

Part 1: youtube.com/watch?v=ETJ61xMjRpo
Part 2: youtube.com/watch?v=Adl7tsWmKeU&mode=related&search=
Part 3: youtube.com/watch?v=86TCK9oJA-Y&mode=related&search=

I found them quite helpful. 🙂
I re-watched those again and they are very helpful.

I can’t stand YouTube.com because there are so many atheists on there. If I try and look somewhere on the internet for some videos or information on miracles and/or Creation there are always some atheists trying to shoot it down.

After this experiance I now have a profound hatred of Atheists, there are absolutely no good atheists on the face of the planet. They are all arrogant, hurtful, and mean people.

Out of curiosity what website were you on when this all started?

As for me, I was involved in a discussion on the IMDb.com Passion of the Christ message board, which, understandably, has become overrun with atheists/evolutionists. There’s hardly a Christian left there. Sad, really.

I can’t remember the site.

lately I have been thinking about things. In the Garden of Eden all the creatures, including man, ate plants. I’ve been wondering about the Venus Flytrap and other carniverous plants. I’ve e-mailed a lot of people looking for an answer and no one has replied.

I went to Wikipedia and the people there are calling the Bible “fairytales”. This stuff is hurtful.

I’m in so much pain. This has made me physically ill. I’ve been shaking, and have been feeling like I’m going to throw up.

And what makes me more sick is how some Catholics can submit to the evolutionists and claim evolution is somehow a fact. Evolution completely contradicts the Bible and they cannot be reconciled.

Carnivorous instinct may very well have evolved later on, through the process known as MICROevolution (variation within a given species). This is not to be confused with MACROevolution, the belief that species can transform themselves over time into something else (such as apes and men). Macroevolution has never been observed, and there is strong evidence against it, despite the claims of atheists. But microevolution is a well-established fact.

Oh, and I wouldn’t go to Wikipedia to alleviate your doubts. For one, they’re known to be somewhat anti-Catholic. Also, they’re not very academically creditable (being user-edited and all). (I should know: I got points marked off of my second semester paper on the Inquisition this year for citing them. 😊 )

As a side note, read this funny article I just received in an email: david.dw-perspective.org.uk/does-richard-dawkins-exist.html

That should make you laugh. 😃 And check out some of the links on that page. They completely SHRED evolution. 👍
