Hello all,
I read the forums often, but do not post much, but I find I need some help in my life right now. Unfortunately I got into pornography and masturbation at a very young age, and have dealt with an addiction to both for near eight years now. I have had several long periods without either, and they are glorious, but after a while, and for reasons I cannot fathom, I fall back into the habit. I have adopted the habit of wearing a Brown Scapular and trying to pray the Rosary every day, and to avoid sin with all my might, but this one thing continually strikes me down, and is extremely demoralizing. I am currently on a few week streak without either, and I come to my brothers and sisters to humbly ask for any prayers you can offer for continued strength that I may be free from this snare for the rest of my days. it’s very taxing on my mind, and my spirit, and frankly I find it quite embarrassing 😊 .
Anyway, that’s enough of my life story. please any that are willing to say a small prayer for me i would be more than happy to return the favor. all I ask for is strength to resist this most intrusive temptation for now and for good.

God Bless you all
-Cory

Cory,

Many folks out there, including myself, know your struggle only too well. Will pray for you and that you can overcome this sinful desire. Be strong and don’t give up. Utilize the Sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist. Take Care…

thank you both very much. I will keep you both in my prayers as well.

Cory, I ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in retraining your brain regardin these habit. The wonderful thing is that you are trying, and that you try again when you lapse.
I ask Him to continue helping and guiding you towards a healthier life.

God blr ess you…Trishie 🙂

I am in much the same boat that you are. I recommend praying psalm 51 - the psalm David wrote after his sins were exposed. I have found that I am unable to fight with my own might - only by God’s grace which I am utterly dependent on. Perhaps that is one reason the Lord allows us to fall, lest we become too prideful and think it is our own power that keeps us from sin. I will pray for you as well. God Bless, your brother in Christ.

Loving God,

Please bless and guide your son Cory and help him to know and appreciate that you created him in your image and that his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. You came to this world as a man, our Lord Jesus, and your endured all the concerns and challenges of the world so you could lead us by example and help us to see that living holy lives is possible as long as we can have the strength and courage to hand everything over to you and follow your will. Please give Cory the strength and courage to overcome this addiction and help him as he carries the Cross on a daily basis. Please send your loving Holy Spirit to lead and change his heart so Cory will feel more at peace with himself and will have the interior fortitude to overcome this difficulty in his life. You have unconditional love for your people and your continue to express your mercy and forgiveness to us as we try but come up short in our attempts to be your holy people.

We pray for the deliverance of Cory from this temptation and behavior in his life, and that you will provide him with a strong sense of how to overcome and stay strong each day.

We pray in the name of your beloved son, Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

Amen.

Cory, I am also a wearer of the Brown Scapular (officially invested in 2008), and I have struggled with the same sin you are dealing with now. I have been free from committing it for a few months now, but temptation still pulls at me every so often. It is a very long uphill climb, but I pray every day that the Lord will keep me safe from Satan’s wiles.

Father God, I offer up prayers for the intentions of Your son, Cory. You have made him, and all of us human beings, in Your own divine image. You have gifted us with the ability experience sensation and take pleasure in creation, which is Your gift to us. However, You know that there are those who struggle with sexual sin and impurity; and yet, he comes to You, Lord, with a spirit weighed down by sorrow and guilt. Do not turn him away, but take him into the loving embrace that waits for each person who comes to You in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as the father welcomed home the prodigal son with open arms and forgave his sins. May the Holy Spirit work within Cory’s soul to cultivate the virtue of purity, so that he may learn to put on chastity and live for You, O Lord.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for him. Place your mantle around him and keep him under your constant protection, as only you, our Blessed Mother and model of purity, can. Amen.

Psalms
Chapter 51

For the leader. A psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him after his affair with Bathsheba.
Have mercy on me, God, in your goodness; in your abundant compassion blot out my offense. Wash away all my guilt; from my sin cleanse me. For I know my offense; my sin is always before me. Against you alone have I sinned; I have done such evil in your sight That you are just in your sentence, blameless when you condemn. True, I was born guilty, a sinner, even as my mother conceived me. Still, you insist on sincerity of heart; in my inmost being teach me wisdom. Cleanse me with hyssop, that I may be pure; wash me, make me whiter than snow. Let me hear sounds of joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Turn away your face from my sins; blot out all my guilt.
A clean heart create for me, God; renew in me a steadfast spirit.
Do not drive me from your presence, nor take from me your holy spirit. Restore my joy in your salvation; sustain in me a willing spirit. I will teach the wicked your ways, that sinners may return to you. Rescue me from death, God, my saving God, that my tongue may praise your healing power. Lord, open my lips; my mouth will proclaim your praise. For you do not desire sacrifice; a burnt offering you would not accept. My sacrifice, God, is a broken spirit; God, do not spurn a broken, humbled heart. Make Zion prosper in your good pleasure; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will be pleased with proper sacrifice, burnt offerings and holocausts; then bullocks will be offered on your altar.
Amen

I’m praying for you Cory. You are not alone if you search the threads this is a struggle for many people. Hang on & keep getting back up…eventually you will win this struggle.👍

I will be praying for you…

Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee,
Blessed are thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

This is the reason I came to this site… because I have the same problem, looking for Catholics who have this struggle. I want to get rid of my guilt and shame. I’ve had it for many more years, it seems. I don’t know what to do. But by seeing this I’m glad it’s not just me. You have a lot of courage, Cory. Hang in there. I have been away from the Church for many years. Maybe God can help me, too. Hang in there, man.

August Queen of the Heavens, heavenly sovereign of the Angels, Thou who from the beginning received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan, we humbly beseech Thee to send Your holy Legions, so that under Thy command and through Thy power, they may pursue the demons and combat them everywhere, suppress their boldness, and drive them back into the abyss. Who is like God? O good and tender Mother, Thou will always be our love and hope! O Divine Mother, send Thy Holy Angels to defend me and to drive far away from me the cruel enemy. Holy Angels and Archangels, defend us, guard us. Amen.
