Precisely. My brother in law has difficulties distinguishing red from green. We don’t simply say ‘oh, he perceives colour differently from the rest of us’, we say “he is colour blind”, and so he is. My father cannot hold a tune to save his life. Again, we don’t simply say that he ‘has a different perception of music to everyone else’, we say ‘he is tone deaf.’
We can say these things about them because there are objective truths about colour and music, some aspects of which are scientifically measurable and describable, that allow us objectively say they are respectively wrong in how they perceive these things.

Doing and believing whatever makes you happy isn’t going to get you into Heaven.
When Jesus told the crowds that He would be present in the Eucharist so they could eat His body and drink His blood, it says, “The crowds found this a difficult teaching, and many left.”
Whaf chapter, paragraph and Verse is that in the Gospel of John? 6:6:6. Which is Satan’s number, “The number of the Beast is 666” in Revelation “And he will deceive a great portion of mankind, and they will have his name written on their foreheads, the mark of the beast which is 666.”
Disobedience to Jesus teachings, where does this come from? From satan. Jesus calls him “a liar and a murderer even from the beginning.”
Concerning being happy by choosing and believing whatever makes you happy;
Jesus said; “And they were eating and drinking and laughing and dancing right up until the coming of the Ark,”
Also: “That is how it will be in the End Of Days, people will be laughing and eating and drinking and dancing right up until they are covered in a consuming fire.”
Jesus told the Apostles, looking at someone and thinking impure thoughts deliberately was a mortal sin and was breaking the commandment not to commit adultery. He told them, to hate ones brother was breaking the commandment not to kill.
The Apostles found Jesus truth and teaching a challenge, they even said to Him, “Who can be saved then?”
Jesus truth and teachings are a challenge because they challenge us to say no to the easy path that “wide Road that leads to Hell, wide and easy is it’s way, and there are many who find it.”
Whereas of Heaven Jesus says; “Narrow and DIFFICULT is the way, and there are few who find it.”
Doing and believing whatever makes you happy isn’t going to get you into Heaven.

It’s about serving Jesus, who said about actions for Him that “If you loved Me you would do as I say.” keeping His commands through the New Testament and catholic church which He gave us to guide us infallibly.
Jesus even says at certain judgements of sinners, they will call Him “Lord Lord” and He will say, “You wicked and FAITH-LESS servant, I tell you solemnly, I never knew you”.
Faith less, because “If you believed Me you would believe My words” Jesus says somewhere else.
Jesus the Son of God, the Truth has given you personally His words and instructions in the New Testament and Roman Catholic Church He founded and guides infallibly,
About this, Jesus was either a liar, a madman, or 100% infallible and right.
You cannot partially believe in Jesus words and believe He was partially correct and partially incorrect, that turns Jesus the Son of God into a liar.
Which is it, is He the Truth, the Son of God, the end of all Public Revelation from God totally until the End Times,
Or is He a madman?
Because the Son of God, who says “I am Truth”, never said "I am partial truth and partially wrong "

VERY well put, MaryHelp!!! I was wishy washy about my faith for a long time, thinking “Yeah, I believe in God and all… But I’ll get to that later.” Then it occurred to me, what if there really is a Heaven and Hell, and I’m just farting around?? I decided I’d rather act like there’s a God and go to Heaven than act like there’s not and go to Hell. Very selfish reasoning, I know, but it DID force me to church and to take it seriously. I’ve grown since then.

Sliverlight-this is something that you should not be undertaking alone. You know–for some Catholic’s, just knowing what the rules are for Catholic’s is enough for them to follow them.
Many people also- need to know the full scope, the why, and deeper reasons.
I would talk to a priest to get these answers - or a deeply spiritual person who can relay important information to you.
The Catholic church has systems in place. For the op of this thread, the first step is to talk to a priest to receive counsel and spiritual inner healing. Then I am sure that the priest will refer the op to an nfp coordinator for tools that will ensure a healthy life with alternatives that are in line with Catholic teachng.
I know you have assumed in this circumstance----no relations ever, ever again–but this is not what is being said here. So please speak to someone who can give you the answers you need to become confident in the Catholic church, and the mercy and compassion that it is founded on.

The problem actually has to do with priests though.
A while back during all those trials for the ones that they had found commited a crime.
They found one at my church and I had trusted and liked him. That kind of put a gash in my relationship with the church. I still believe in God as much as I once did though. It’s people that did this not God. I know not every priest is like that but I still have worries in the back of my mind.
I also do not need to use nfp as I am 23 and have never been sexually active due to just not wanting to.

Unfortunately, you will find people who break their trust with you everywhere; not just the Catholic Church. Home, work, - everywhere. The key is to not let those people affect your relationships with others; including your relationship with the Church. As the old Jackson 5 song said, “One bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch”. The worrying is not of God- that’s the devil trying to make you walk away from God’s Church. Don’t give him the satisfaction!!!

Is everything honestly always the work of the devil? I feel like there are some who resort to using that when there is more then 1 thing at play. I know perfectly well that other people can be disappointing I have experienced that before. I also believe I said I know it’s not all priests some are great.Unfortunately, you will find people who break their trust with you everywhere; not just the Catholic Church. Home, work, - everywhere. You can also talk to someone whom you trust aside frm a priest who is well versed, spiritually grounded and throughly educated in the cathechism–perhaps someone from your parish. I will pray for God to lead you to such a person.

Not everything. But anything that would attempt to keep you from fully giving your heart and soul to God is, and worrying is an easy way for satan to do that. The best thing he did to help his cause is to get humans to think he doesn’t exist or reduced his image to a cartoon character; it make denying his limited but real power so much more efficient.
It’s probably just because this is typing and not talking, but the tone of your response feels a bit combative to me. I’m not trying to argue with you- I’m trying to help you.

I think a lot of times people do get worked up and upset and that comes across, but other times people are saying “That’s wrong, the Church teaches that that is wrong…” because they’re worried about someone committing a gravely sinful act. And sometimes I imagine there’s some overlap in the two, with people getting upset that others are advocating for or justifying actions that the Church has always taught are seriously sinful.
Sometimes it can help to remember that people are telling you something is wrong because they are actually really worried for your soul if you continue in an action that the is sinful.
I’m a convert who started as a Southern Baptist, went through an agnostic phase, then a Buddhist phase, then another agnostic/communist phase before finding my way home to the Church. I was really, really good at justifying just about any action with “well it isn’t hurting anyone so…” and viewing happiness, as the world defines it, as the ultimate goal of existence. But it felt really empty, and it’s why after searching and studying I realized that the Church had the answers to so many of the questions that I’d been asking for years.
Asking questions is a good. Seeking truth is good. I found that prayer was hugely important in discovering the answers however, as not all of them made me feel warm and squishy, and some were rather uncomfortable to begin to understand, much less accept. Praying the rosary, for me, was a key part in the process, along with reading a lot (here, and books by Fulton Sheen and Peter Kreeft were both good places to start).
But I think it does help me, when things get heated around here, to remember that often those who are upset may be upset because they’re worried about the souls of those they’re debating and feel that the stakes in these situations are high and this might be the one chance to reach out someone and help them.
Prayers for you as you continue to seek the truth and ask hard questions to understand more about your faith!
