See I knew it was a good idea to put this out here, instead of trying to do it alone.

You all are right.

Catholic enough.

But not so much that it keeps others out.

Easy to remember and know by the name whats inside.

I see how everything is falling in place. Like dominos.

My husband has a website and domain ready to go.

My son inlaws mom sells real estate and says she has a shop, with some baptism gowns in boxes in the back from a dress shop she owns I can have them if I want and if I want to rent the shop just to let her know.

Im just waiting for the name and researching.

I am so in awe of God right now that when I think of His many blessings it just brings tears to my eyes.

**I never thought I could do the things I am doing right now. I am somewhat of a hermit and a big chicken. I like to be alone. **Other then my kids and my husband. But as a family we started putting more focus on God and putting Him first about 7 years ago. And He has blessed us so much!

For Him and His children I started giving to His Church my time.Because we had no money at the time. I became a CCD teacher.(Stomaches every week) now I sub for every grade from K-6. Which is really needed on Wednesdays.

Then my husband did the same he helps in 4th grade. Then he joined the Knights.

This year I decided to give more of my time. I am now a youth pastor for 8th graders. The most scariest step of my life!(Did I tell you I’m a big chicken?) On Mondays. (They actually like me!)

I agreed to help a few join RCIA this year (I went with them) and to see their faces at the Easter Vigil was so awesome! They all glowed!

I would love to do more! I love to teach and I love to read.I did that Charism Retreat and found I have the gift of teaching. So this idea of opening this store came to me. And wow so many could benefit!

Im a mom of 5 and I work full time on a grave yard shift and I keep thinking how? How am I suppose to do this? But He keeps leading me. So I follow, because I love Him and I want to please Him so much.

Thanks everyone for reading my post. Who knows, maybe it was just your support that He knew I needed.

Signed Big Chicken:p
It definately sounds like God is leading you. So do move forward.
Mother Angelica has a great saying about this sort of enterprise.

“Faith is one foot on the ground, one foot in the air, and a queasy feeling in the stomach”.

I also understand about the “alone” thing. While I like company, I find it takes awhile for me to become comfortable around new people. Then my wife and I ran a leather shop in a flea market for 4 years. The customers were great. A hundred fine people would come in for each stinker that showed up. I think you will find that too. The joy of helping someone find just what they are looking for, seeing them come back time after time. Just chatting and getting to know some of them will be one of your biggest blessings.

I do wish you all the luck in the world.

Peace
James

I vote for a saint’s name. I think it would do all the things you hope - it would bring in the Catholics and not shut out everyone else. I would pick one that is a patron saint of education like St. Thomas Aquinas or St. Scholastica.

Good luck with this! I wish we had such a bookstore in our town.

What about the name of Saint Anthony who helps people find lost things and… helps people find NEW THINGS LIKE A BOOKSTORE name and location.

The name: St. Anthony Books & Gifts

The advertisement would be… Let us help you find the book or gift you are looking for with the help of St. Anthony.

Did you lose a book and need help in finding it? We can order a new one for you.
Did you lend a book but never got it back? We may have the book in our store…call us.

Did someone steal your favorite book? You don’t need to buy another one because St. ANTHONY will make sure that thief returns your book as we pray for the return of your book to St. Anthony.
I remember the story about the thief who stole a book from St. Anthony who knew who took it. Some demons chased the man and made him return the book back to St. Anthony.

So you see… St. Anthony loved books and education because he was highly educated in a University.
Books are bought by people who love to read.

Whenever I need to buy a Catholic book I look in the yellow pages and look for a Catholic bookstore. Some bookstores have strange names so I don’t want to bother driving myself to that store unless a friend has told me it is a Catholic bookstore. I love to read books.

Sacramentals is the one that has it all – snap, clear Catholic identity, a clue to what you sell, and hard to confuse with anything else; I’d go there.

St John the Evangelist is (I think) the patron saint of booksellers… .

How about:

Vine and Branches Bookstore

Trinity Books and Gifts

still thinking…

Sacred Heart Books and Gifts

I like Sacramentals.

Our local store is Our Lady of Grace.

Good luck and God bless!

Teeny suggestion?

Gift registry.

The day before Confirmation or Easter Vigil, I’ve been among others wandering around in our local Catholic store with “what do I get them” frustration (and the store is packed with other people doing the exact same thing).

At each Parish, find out the coordinator for:

Baptism Prep
Marriage Prep
RCIA
1st Holy Communion Prep
Confirmation Prep
Quecinerra

Give them flyers or cards to hand out to the people in these groups, all those families will WANT to by gifts, you can assist in making that an easy thing.

Have you decided on anything yet?

How about
“Evangelist Books and Gifts”
“HMC Books and Gifts” (Holy Mother Church)

Peace
James

How about

All Saints Catholic Books and Gifts (then you don’t have to pick one, and can have all of them as your patrons!)

The newest Catholic store in my hometown is named Gloria Deo.

I wish you luck!

I received so many great ideas.
I was on my way home from work at 6am in the dark on the road by self and I was talking out loud, you know because I think God can hear me better;) not because Im crazy.

I said " What am I going to name that Catholic store?"

Then I smiled then I giggled.

I mean its very simple. Easy to remember. It says it all don’tcha think?

that Catholic store

Where did you get that? Oh at that Catholic store.

Have you been to that Catholic store?

I really like that Catholic store.

Can you believe that Catholic store?

And when we have it blessed by the Father we will have it blessed under the patronage of a saint.

My husband has the website almost ready. I need to pick colors. and maybe a logo? Then after I get my license I’ll start ordering.

I got my application for registering the name. I’ll be sending it out this week.

Don’t you just love God?! He is so great.

I love that saying from Mother Angelica. I bought her book it was great!

Does everyone here have a Catholic store to go to?

Or do you order online?

My husband and I love to evangilize and I think this would be a great help for our community. We buy and print pamphlets and lay them everywhere and hand them out. I just got back from our doctors,I have a chest cold, and my husband grabbed one of our bulletines from Mass(we carry extras in our van)and left it on the coffee table in the doctors office.👍

Thanks for your help and support! I really need it.

you guys are good at this!

If you have any other advise let me know!

I am sorry to say that the name THAT Catholic Store is not a good name because if I was looking for a Catholic bookstore…
I would look in the yellow pages and look for the name Catholic under the letter C for Catholic.
If I call information… and if I would ask them to find me a Catholic bookstore… the telephone operator would most likely look under the letter C for Catholic.

Plus… the name That Catholic “Store” my question would be as a seeker of books… STORE OF WHAT??

I hope I am being clear on what I mean.

What is wrong in naming it Catholic Books and Gifts? You have a better chance of marketing that name.

The word “THAT” sounds too flipent and not appropriate. As a customer I wouldn’t like that name.

BUT… it will be your store and you can name it whatever you want. I am just trying to be helpful and not critical. Please ask your close relatives for advise. Friends will not tell you the truth because they may not want to hurt your feelings.

I understand what you’re saying.I’m sure if you were to look under “books” you would see “that Catholic store” and you would know right away that it was Catholic. Don’t you think? and What else but Catholic stuff would be found in a Catholic store? I don’t think that there is a category under “Catholic” in the yellow pages, at least not in ours.I also looked under “Catholic” in the white pages but only 1 out 4 Catholic churches was posted there with a counseling center and thats it. The Catholic Churches in our area are put under the category of “churches” then under the category of “Catholic”. Ya “Catholic” is not a category.

Maybe if it was under “Gifts”? Then you would be looking in the “c’s” for “Catholic”. But if I named it “that Catholic store” it would be where the “t’s” are.

But Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut. Nothing is final yet and I am still thinking and listening to everyone. Thanks again you made me think.

Maybe I should take a vote?

I just had a thought about both the name and advertising.

First is that, on the name I would want something that is Catholic enough to set my store apart from the others, but not so Catholic that it might put off people from other faiths from visiting and exploring. That is for two reasons. The first is the idea of evangelization. You never know who might be positively influenced by a visit to your store. (I’m thinking of ones who wouldn’t think to look into a “Catholic” Store. Second is the more mundane and capitalistic reason of trying to ensure as broad a customer base as possible.

The other thought I had relates to advertising. Where we live there are advertisements on the backs of the Bulletins. That would put you in a great many Catholic households every week.

That being said, once word gets around I think you might just become THE place to go for Catholics in your area.

We have a store right up the road here called Innervisions. They have a fountain in the center of the store, and are generally playing a CD, sometimes Gregorian Chant, Sometimes more contemporary but always soft and easy. The combination of the soft music and the fountain is quite relaxing and inviting. I love going in there, and usually can’t get out without buying something.

Peace
James
