did you have a 401k, yessian? (not meaning to pry) But, you could tap into that if need be.
If only I could afford a lawyer… but most likely I’ll just be reporting her to the dept of labor. I still have the forms they sent me last month.I would consider a lawsuit for hostile work enviornment. The constant yelling and screaming and demands to clean her house certainly qualify. You don’t have to be boorish and look for $10 million, but a year’s severence would be plenty fair for all the grief she put you through.
Nope… she didn’t offer any benefits so I don’t even have that. And we already spent all our saved up money (from our CD) making up for the money I wasn’t making to pay the mortgage and property taxes.did you have a 401k, yessian? (not meaning to pry) But, you could tap into that if need be.
No no no–you did not mess up quitting.:tsktsk: You can’t look at this in that way.Nope… she didn’t offer any benefits so I don’t even have that. And we already spent all our saved up money (from our CD) making up for the money I wasn’t making to pay the mortgage and property taxes.
I really messed up quitting…
You GO, Girl!Maybe I didn’t mess up by quitting, but I’m starting to feel the monetary pressure. I’m only going to get 31 hrs worth of a check. DH is working Saturdays so he can make a bit more money for us. At least we still have the “lodger” in our house and is following our rules(for now), so DH didn’t tell him to leave.
I’ve been thinking I can go to the Mall and apply for a retail job for now. I worked retail since I was 16 till I was 23. I’m 26, so that shouldn’t be a problem. I still did customer service since I worked in the real estate market… I’m getting a bit worried though.
And about contacting a lawyer… I don’t think I can sue. Why do it anyway? It won’t fix anything, at least, I don’t think.
Maybe when my mom comes back from Chile she can see if I can get a job where she works. She’s a director of 2 clinics… maybe she can help me.
But at least I’m starting my externship at a clinic thanks to my aunt. All I have to do is submit my paperwork to my school registrar’s office and I can start training for my future and ideal job. I have 2 months left of school and 160 hrs to fulfill for my externship. At least I have that going…
I just called the mortgage company to see what my options were regarding refinancing or anything that could help, but sadly, they gave me very bad news. We paid $437K for the house, and they told me that because California’s housing market is so bad, my house for them, is only worth $389K. We’ve only had the house for 7 months and we owe more than $400K.Agree - you did what you did and it is done. Now, time to plan and move forward.
My advice, all of your effort right now should go into finding
1 Short term cash to pay the mortgage and bills
2 A job
Focus on filing the legal stuff later. Take care of the urgent things first. Food and shelter. Do not be afraid to go to a food pantry to get through, or to ask for help from family.
If losing your house is looming - then. put it on the market today. If you can sell it for just what you owe against it, it might be worth looking into.
sometimes, suing isn’t for us–it’s to prevent the person from hurting others. Think like Norma Rae!Maybe I didn’t mess up by quitting, but I’m starting to feel the monetary pressure. Except some lawyers will do it on ‘contingency’ where they take a part of the judgement or settlement. The standard is 1/3 to 1/2.If only I could afford a lawyer… but most likely I’ll just be reporting her to the dept of labor. I still have the forms they sent me last month.
