Why?I feel so much more at home with Protestant brethren and it saddens me that other Romans are not as congenial I wish they were but not so.

Im in a dilema .After months of attending Protestant service I returned and went to confession .I felt so graet I could’nt help but smile and feel myself praising the lord.
***At this point you became no better than her. Trust me. Been there done that. **Then as I stepped out of the confessional an older woman snarled at me and said I took to long in the confession and I made her late for her appointmaent with her hairdresser .It was then I became angry
**Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.
– James 4:17
This would have been a good example of following and doing the "Golden Rule"Nod to her to acknowledge her and then replied with this or something similar:
**“God Bless you and the may the Peace of the Lord be with You” **
Could it be what you thought was the Holy Spirit was nothing but something akin to “Happy Clappy Feeling” brought about the “Emotionalism” that springs forth when you are around other emotianal and enthusiatic people?and the following day returned to the Protestant Church ,where I felt the Holy Spirit .
Jesus did say there would be weeds mixed in with the wheat…also you seem to be passing judgement on the old coots…who made you a judger of old coots?**It’s the attitude of these old “coots” that profess to be Catholics but have no sympathy for fellow sinners please tell me me what to do. *
Again it could be nothing but emotionalism.**When I leave Sunday Service I feel great *
Are you expecting Mass to be Happy Clappy? There is no indication that the early church was like this or ever was like this.*
- when I leave Mass I dont .*
You obviously must be blind. I visit protestant churches on occasion. The ones that sit in the back leave as quickly as they can so they can beat feet to the restaurant…*The people at Mass can’t wait to get out of there me I’m not pleased with such un christian acts .
Yes he did BUT Jesus was referring to false Prophets. Protestants tend to ignore the preceeding verse so here is both verses:**Sorry but you must convince me otherwise …Did not Jesus say " By their fruits you shall know them"…Peace *
Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Well for starters, go back to confession and confess those things I presented above.please tell me me what to do
Well, this might seem cold, but do you go to service/mass to feel good, or to worship God? That’s one thing that I stress to charismatic/contemporary “seeker sensitive” church goers. In these churches, the service is centered on the people :dancing: and not on GodIm in a dilema .After months of attending Protestant service I returned and went to confession .I felt so graet I could’nt help but smile and feel myself praising the lord. Then as I stepped out of the confessional an older woman snarled at me and said I took to long in the confession and I made her late for her appointmaent with her hairdresser .It was then I became angry and the following day returned to the Protestant Church ,where I felt the Holy Spirit .It’s the attitude of these old “coots” that profess to be Catholics but have no sympathy for fellow sinners please tell me me what to do. “So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
, that’s where I have a problem. This is the direction many Protestant denominations are heading, b/c it pulls more people into the church, instead of being doctrinally orthodox or confessional.
or more feel good/praise band/contemporary church?:harp:THank you for saying that. I suffer panic attacks when I am in public so it is extremely difficult to deal with situations that others may just ignore. It is the lack of understanding from others (such as the “3rd grade” poster) that often make a “simple” situation almost unbearable.Oh wahhh?? Real nice. I think it’s obvious who’s stuck in third grade.
I needed to point out that besides you believe in the the Sacrament of the Reconcilation, you also believe in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist … which many Christians do not.Could not have been the Devil. What would he be doing in a Church…So close to the Blessed sacrament? but I will consider it
The evil one may be deceiving you even here. Consider that, in the first book of Job, satan stood in the presence of God:Could not have been the Devil. What would he be doing in a Church…So close to the Blessed sacrament? but I will consider it
Wow! what a loving comment! I mean, really, your sympathy is astounding! I have been to many Masses and I am Protestant, and I have experienced rudeness in both churches, BUT, I can say I am more disappointed with the Catholics in the parish I frequent. They are for the most part cold when it comes to greeting visitors, they can’t get out of church fast enough when Mass is over and it is sometimes an empty feeling. This is in my parish so don’t think I am saying this goes on in all parishes for I am sure there are some great loving parishes. I love the Catholic church but at times, I wish they were more loving.Oh wahhhh… how did you ever survive the third grade if one person being rude to you causes you to go crying out the door never to return?
I mean really… you can find sinners everywhere.
When I attended a Baptist church in college and as a young adult (before I became a Catholic) they were very “sweet” and “welcoming” and seemd so “full of the Spirit”… until… you got to know them. Then you discovered that many of the women were there to catch a man, and they would leave tracks up your back from climbing over you (and a knife too) if you happened to catch the eye of a man they wanted as their own. I also found out that they were sleeping around, out dancing/partying, and all sorts of other things that are considered sins by the Baptist church. Yet, front and center in the first pew on Sunday.
Moral of the story-- yep, we are all sinners and only by the Grace of God can we be saved.
What **matters **is that the Catholic Church holds the fullness of Truth, the Sacraments, and the Keys given by Christ to Peter. The rest is just an attitude adjustment on **your **part.
You know, there seems to be an idea here with Catholics that it is wrong somehow to feel good at church…Why not feel happy and friendly at church? It seems to me that happiness and joy should be overflowing at church! At Mass I can tell you I see more somber faced, seemingly unhappy people who are there just to fulfill an obligation and then get out as fast as they can. In contrast, the protestant churches I have been to seem to have a much higher percentage of really happy people who WANT to be there, not because they are required to, but because they chose to.Wow! what a loving comment! I mean, really, your sympathy is astounding! I have been to many Masses and I am Protestant, and I have experienced rudeness in both churches, BUT, I can say I am more disappointed with the Catholics in the parish I frequent. I don’t think so. I mean, I agree we need to use reason, but that is not the only avenue through which we apprehend Truth. Experiencing the HS has only to do with Truth. However, you are right that “feeling” one is doing so and actually doing so can be two different things. We can pump ourselves up into thinking we have had a HS experience.Hi Singinbeauty. I enjoy your posts. I have to disagree with you here. “Experiencing the holy spirit” has nothing to do with the TRUTH. It is a feeling. God gave us each a brain to use to discern truth and to discern the will of God. We are different from the animals because God made us in His image. We use REASON with our FAITH to know God’s Will for our lives.
No, feelings are not always wrong, and sensing things is not divination. You have shown by the use of these words that HS and Truth go together. We are commanded to worship in Spirit AND Truth. If your feelings “tell you” that the Holy Spirit is there, that is nothing more than divination, and it’s wrong.
The Catholic Church teaches that the HS does use Protestant communities, and that some truth is found wherever He is at work. How can Truth and God be separated? If the Holy Spirit is in the protestant church then God is there, therefore, Truth is there.
Well, I don’t agree with your conclusion, but I do agree that people can feel the HS, and it is not divination.By saying that just having the Holy Spirit there is nothing more than ‘divination’ as you call it then you say that just having God there is not enough.
Indeed!God is ALWAYS enough. Feeling the Holy Spirit is His way of revealing Himself to you. It is a great and wonderful thing. If you find that in a protestant church, better that than not feeling or experiencing Him at all.
The assertion is also contrary to official Catholic doctrine, so you are in good company with the Holy Father and the Magesterium. I will kindly disagree with all y’all so we can have a good ‘catholic’ unity in our agreement that the HS is at work.I am sorry, but I will have to kindly disagree with your assertion that God is not in the protestant community. (as you cannot separate God from Truth and if we hold no Truth then you say God is not present there)
I agree with you. I sojoured in Protestant communities for a bout 20 years, and grew a lot spiritually. But for me, now that I have returned to the fullness of truth, it would be wrong for me, and a sign that the devil had somehow decieved me.I firmly believe that if you find God there, stick with Him and He will lead you where you need to be.![]()

I think the fact that you ran into this woman is a good thing. You should expect to see this in the true Church. The Church is a hospital for sinners. Christ came to save sinners, not the righteous. Its the sick who need a doctor, not the healthy. I once attended a Protestant Church like you where everyone was “lovey dovey” and “happy”. I realized it was fake. There is something real and earthy about the Catholic Church. God meets man, right where he is.Im in a dilema .After months of attending Protestant service I returned and went to confession .I felt so graet I could’nt help but smile and feel myself praising the lord. 1ke, you know that Catholics are out there doing those same things correct?Oh wahhhh… how did you ever survive the third grade if one person being rude to you causes you to go crying out the door never to return?

Okay, I can’t resist - how do you know that those “other” christians are saints? How do you know the ones you call saints are saints? We don’t know anything - you can’t say so and so is while others absolutely can not be.Just remember that many left Jesus because of the many things He said. but those who stay are now saints and are in Heaven enjoyng the presence of of Our Lord. also can you imagine if the Apostles had quit their mission because they were mistreated? remember of what Our Lord and the apostles endured for us. it was no small suffers.
Just one more thing would quit your job just because someone there is not nice to you?

1ke, just because YOU have felt welcome does not mean all are - try being a minority going to a catholic church. It’s like a different world.I disagree. I have never felt unwelcome in a Catholic Church. I have been to many, many different parishes because I traveled extensively with work. I also lived in a major city and attended dozens of parishes in that city. Now I live in a rural, small community. I’ve traveled all over the world, and have always been welcomed.
