Hi Kathrynsue.

I’ve been reading your thread and I want to first say how sorry I am that you are having to deal with such a difficult situation. Please know that many are praying for you and prayer is powerful.

I’m curious about something…do you feel your salvation is somehow compromised if you don’t receive the Eucharist? I know you said you feel “left out”, but is there something more to it? I know you’re dealing with a lot, but where is the obsession coming from that it keeps you awake at night? Jesus is present in a unique and powerful way in the Eucharist, but he is most certainly present to all of us outside of the Eucharist as well. Yes, the Eucharist can have a “healing” effect (and I don’t necessarily mean physically) but God is not limited to his sacraments. If it is his will to heal you whether emotionally, spiritually, or physically, he will do so whether or not you receive the Eucharist.

Again, I will keep you in my prayers. I’ve included another spiritual communion prayer. (I also love the Animi Christi prayer :))

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Peace in Christ,
Teri

I was raised not to cuss and went to churches that was not for cussing

then this brain defect came and I had not choice or control anymore when it came to cussing

even doctors say my disorder is real but rather Rare

it being so rare the churches I went to was filled with people who never heard of such a thing and refused to deal with it or believe it even with a doctors note (vary few did believe it)

So 1 sunday morning I went to a catholic church found out the doctor I had for about 20 years is catholic and have been going mostly ever since, only 1 member showed that they dont believe me even went so far as to say God would hit me with Lightning if I kept cussing like this

I just say the f word and miss use to word hell but they cant stand it

When I read that book and heard from a bishop class that some non catholics can take the Eurchrist I was wondering if I fit the rare situation claws in the law

its not like I think that the Eurchrist is just any bread and wine I didnt even think that when I took commuion in non catholic churches,1 of the non catholic church wouldnt allow me to recive it there cause of my cussing disorder

I called the church office again today and talked to the Secartary she said that the priest has gotten the card and said she would ask about the letter I had put in it

I am not saying if it wasnt for the cussing disorder I wouldnt ever come to a catholic church It just wouldnt be the only church I went to and I wouldnt be trying to get this permission to be able to recive the Eurchrist

ewtn.com/library/Liturgy/zlitur43.htm

"Later, in No. 46 of the encyclical, the Pope reminds us of those rare cases, and under what conditions, non-Catholic Christians may be admitted to the sacraments of the Eucharist, reconciliation and anointing of the sick.

This administration is limited to “Christians who are not in full communion with the Catholic Church but who greatly desire to receive these sacraments, freely request them and manifest the faith which the Catholic Church professes with regard to these sacraments. Conversely, in specific cases and in particular circumstances, Catholics too can request these same sacraments from ministers of Churches in which these sacraments are valid.”

For these reasons the Church recognizes that “in certain circumstances, by way of exception, and under certain conditions, access to these sacraments may be permitted, or even commended, for Christians of other Churches and ecclesial Communities” (No. 130).

Apart from the case of danger of death, the Episcopal conference and the local bishop may specify other grave circumstances in which a Protestant may receive these sacraments although always respecting the conditions outlined above in the Holy Father’s encyclical: “that the person be unable to have recourse for the sacrament desired to a minister of his or her own Church or ecclesial Community, ask for the sacrament of his or her own initiative, [and] manifest Catholic faith in this sacrament and be properly disposed” (No. 131).

requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law (canon 844 § 4). "
This is on a once-only basis, where someone is temporarily not able to receive the Sacraments in their own church - what they are visualizing is someone on a Sunday morning finding out that there is no church of their own religion to attend (like in war time, say a member of the Orthodox Church found himself in a surrounded place on a Sunday, and the only Mass available to him was being said by the Latin-Rite chaplain - he could get permission to receive Holy Communion at that Mass - but only at that Mass - if he lives through the war, it would be expected that he returns to his own church and doesn’t receive Holy Communion in the Catholic Church any more - if he means to keep attending the Catholic Church, then he would make a Profession of Faith and join the Catholic Church.

If someone wants to receive the Sacraments on an on-going basis for the rest of his or her life, they have to make a Profession of Faith in the Catholic Church and become a Catholic. In a case like yours, it’s not difficult to do this.

i cant go to non catholic churches cause of a rare disorder

I was told that in rare situation non catholics can do it
Once only, in an emergency situation. Not every single week for the rest of their lives.
the only reason i would ever join is for the Eurchrist and the way these people are doing it seems like they are doing there best to leave me no choice its either join or your screwed
To receive the Sacraments on an on-going basis, you would have to make a Profession of Faith and become a Catholic, yes. It is not “you’re screwed” - it’s just that, in order to do what Catholics do, you have to become a Catholic.

This is in order to be fair to everyone, because everyone else has to do this, too.

but my grand ma says no cause she says its wrong to join catholic church just to get the Eurchrist

Yes, it IS wrong to join just to get the Eucharist. One would join if they believe and accept ALL that the Church teaches. Doesn’t mean that they DO all that the Church teaches because we are all sinners and (name removed by moderator)erfect but we need to accept all of the Churches teachings as TRUE and TRY to do them.

You are not praying to Mary and the saints, you are asking them to pray for you as all of us here are doing for you. Either way, as Catholics we are not *required *to ask Mary or any saints to pray for us. Of course, why wouldn’t you want them praying for you??

You are correct that worship is due God alone, that should be deep in you as a Christian.

Peace in Christ,
Teri

Catholics don’t pray to Mary and the Saints. I don’t know where you got that idea. But as it has become more clear to me about your situation, I understand more. I think your Granny is correct; you just want the Eucharist for the benefit of healing your tumor, and without the desire to become Catholic ever. It just doesn’t work that way as everyone has tried to explain to you. The dispensation one might get (and it is extremely rare) to receive the Holy Eucharist is as explained by jmcrae and others perfectly.

the tumor is not my only sickness

I have over activity in my brain causeing seizures jerks and cussing

I know some of you boys wont want to read this part but I have been on my period for 32 days now and it shows no sign of stopping

this tumor has made my body huge my legs my belly my boobs it even makes my head litteraly get bigger at times, they headachs are more often now and usualy more worse then they use to be

most people who I thought were my friends left me cause they believe I truely have chosen to cussing alot and refuse to stop

its not like I havent told my local catholic church some of this I even told someone the other day that I just want the Eurchrist they told me maybe I should join

apparently just wanting the Eurchrist is a good reason in her eyes to become catholic

anyway if I did become catholic my living situation would turn into more of a hell on earth and not having anywhere else to live I rather not have that happen

see why I kinda wish this tumor would just kill me already

The Eucharist is not a magic cookie that will make your brain tumour go away and be guaranteed to heal you of your disorder. God can heal you in many ways, however, God also permits us to suffer.

If you seek baptism, the Eucharist, aointing, for magic healing only, they will profit you nothing. Seek them because you seek God and desire to love and serve Him in this life and to be with Him in the next.

It is Miraculous, because it is Jesus, Himself. 🙂

But it certainly isn’t “magical.”

Yes, as are we. But we understand and most Christians who broke away form the original Church fail to realize, is that we are united as a Body of Christ whether we are living in this world or in the afterlife. People who die in Christ are alive with him in heaven, in His presence, looking upon him, and praying for us.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us.” Hebrews 12:1

The cloud of witnesses are those who have died, many who endured terrible trials in the name of Jesus, some who endured trails such as yours and know what you are going through, who are praying for us because they love God’s people and want us to be in heaven with Him just as they are.

The Eucharist has been know to heal people. It really depends on the piety and faith of the individual and if that healing would be of SPIRITUAL benefit to them – stuff that only God can judge and decide.
