Vasian: my question comes after doing some reading on this thread how can a JW worship Christ as a lesser god when God says thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Good question, when put as you have:thumbsup:
I’d say the answer would be that they do not claim to worship Christ but see Him only as the Mediator between men and God (Jehovah).
JW belief:
God: (Jehovah) The Almighty
Holy Spirit: God’s “active force”
Jesus Christ: Savior of man, mediator between man and God. God’s only begotten son. (Only being that God directly created, as all other things were created through Christ)

goes against Acts of the Apostle’s 5:3-5 where St.Peter said “thou shouldest lie to the Holy Spirit…Thou hast lied not to men but to God” St.Peter syas that the Holy Spirit is God in these words. one cannot lie to a force but to a being.

Welcome home, it was a long, and I’m certain painful journey. I am Catholic, and I was married to a JW. It took years to get her and two of her three sons out. I’m fairly familiar with their doctrines and had often wondered how many JWs got tripped up when the Society changed it’s position on the definition of generation. When I married my now ex-wife I predicted to her that it would be changed within a few years…it was less than a year…November 1995 if I remember correctly…that the “new light” was brought out.
To whomever said the JWs work hard…so do Catholics…so do Mormons…so do Muslims…it’s not an indication of being correct. I’ll stick with the Church that’s been around since the beginning.
I think I’ve been most fascinated by 144,000 and the “great crowd” and the logical gymnastics they have to use to get around the great crowd also being in heaven…

They’re also facinated by this in thinking only 144,000 JWs are going to be in Heaven. They ignore the fact that these 144,000 are not spiritual Jews, as they claim, but true Jews that God has set aside for Himself. Also they ignore the great crowd waiting under God’s altar for the last day so that they may enjoy the bliss of Heaven. Maybe someday ( soon I pray ) the JWs will wake up to the fact that the WBTS has been feeding them a line of lies.

I’m sorry your marriage did not last.
The mental gymnastics that one has to perform in order to remain in the organization takes its toll on many whether they are conscience of it or not. It is a shame really, because there are so many kind hearted, genuine people in there that are trapped.
To me it has always been clear that the Apostle Paul talked often about the "freedom in Christ (Christian Freedom) that we have. (Galatians)
IMO, the WTS has stolen this Christian Freedom from their members by turning the faith into a legalistic system, void of the true freedom that we as Catholic Christians have.
Some on the outside, claim this of the Roman Catholic Church. I say to them that they have not studied the Catechism of the Church sufficiently enough to understand just how incorrect they are.
As a Catholic, who had also not studied the Catechism thoroughly enough bought into the WTS teachings, and was led astray.
It is with humility given me by the Holy Spirit that I am able to share this with my Catholic Brethren, and the general public herein. Why do I believe this?
I believe this, because I’ve never been very humble on my own accord.

How many members of the JW church are africian-american?

I don’t know what percentage are African-American, but I know there has never been one on their governing body. In fact, I’m pretty sure almost all of the governing body members through their short history have all been caucasian Americans. If I had to guess a percentage, after seeing many, many of their congregations across the country, I’d say it’s around 3-5% and no more than that.

My mistake. I apologize for the misonformation. I just couldn’t recall any being on the governing body. 15 years ago, I had already left the WTS, so that’s were my memory leaves off at. And sorry, I don’t know Randy Waters. Who is he?

An X JW who if ever at all, does not update his on line rants against the WTS to reflect facts. At the very least , he should delete on line articles he has written that are outdated and inaccurate, and replace them with updated ones.

I don’t know if it really is. But, aside from my not getting the point of why an angel would need to become man what happened to the body of Michael if Jehovah had put him into the womb of Mary? Were they both resurrected? It sounds so crazy.

I’m curious… As a professed agnostic, why do you care about such things?
Should you not be studying the basic tenants of Christianity rather than concerning yourself with these more cloudy issues of conflicting religious doctrines?
I would think that issues such as these are a moot subject for an agnostic considerng that you are not sure God even exists
