Wow, that’s egregious!

And CBP said they had computer-generated random checks on her 12 times out of 43, and yet others she had worked with had passed through many times without being pulled?

Yeah, right.

For people who say this isn’t still happening - it’s still happening.

So, what are the other factors?
Sounds to me like a couple of different things going on here.
Could be that the picture on her picture ID may not resemble her.
Of course, we only have the one side of the story.

Did she perhaps do something that made enemies of these officers?

We know for the border, those cages were built during the Obama administration. Things don’t happen overnight, we have to hope CBP changes but it won’t change over night.

Does anyone know El Paso? Juarez? Fort Bliss?

Does anyone think it is a norm for a 26 year old African American woman to drive FROM Mexico TO the USA?? She was by herself? Common occurence? Does one think many African American 26 year old females live in Juarez?

That must be rare, call my views racist if need be but that probably is not a common occurrence.

El Paso probably has a low African American population, I’d say so, I’m sure it’s less than 10% not like, Dallas say.

She had living quarters, whatever that may be in Juarez.

I wonder how many prior African American diplomats worked in that office, Consulate, Embassy in Juarez??? How many previously?

And now, unfortunately, we know, Juarez has a terribly high crime rate for whatever it’s worth. Could she have gone over by other methods? I’ll tell you, there was one US company and whenever they would drive Americans over to the Juarez Mexico factory, they used an armoured van. Maybe there is a misunderstanding here but I don’t appreciate the presentation here, which seemed to implicate some sentiments of other persons.

We know CAF is based in San Diego, near the border, similar situations.

True, it may not be common.
Which would make this even worse in my view…

After the first few occurrences, the border guards should start to recognize her and know she will have all her paperwork in order.

Seems retaliatory to me.

Yes

Racism is alive and well.

People who have experienced racism and have talked about too often get gaslighted.

See, but it’s not like a county toll booth, thousands of cars daily along with trucks go through the border. You might wait hours sometimes. And now, we have NATFTA. There are maybe hundreds of customs and border officials alone in the El Paso “sector” or area I’d say. At least dozens and multiple ports of entry or crossings, bridges and soon.

I note, she is 26. Ok, what if this were an older black woman driving through? 70 years old? That might change the equation again.

Just one image of an El Paso border bridge, that is used for smuggling, human trafficking, commerce, vacations, many things.

Does one think they’d get use to the same faces?

They shouldn’t stop her but I’d think a person like her would be a bit unusual crossing the border. They probably train officials to look for unusual persons. Do we call everyone else they stop a racial situation too?

I think you answered your own question.
She is unusual. She stands out from the norm.

So two things…1, she will be stopped more…and 2, they should start to recognize her

Of course, it could be a different agent each time. In which case I think it a simple misunderstanding. She stands out, therefore she gets pulled more.

Why? I just do not see evidence of this.
I’m sorry, but when many people at the consulate are doing the same thing every day and not getting secondary searches, but she is, it’s racial.

Once they know she is a diplomat, thay should have layed off. Instead they stepped up the harassment.

. . . .

That’s not exactly a better scenario. If the CBP officers were using their authority to mess with her out of spite/personal animosity, that’s not really any better than harassing her because of her race.

If one believes her, then it’s hard to believe she is not being harassed for some reason, though race might be it, but isn’t necessarily.

That is, if one believes her. If one does not accept what really is a difficult story to believe, then something else is going on, and whatever it is, isn’t good.

They did an investigation and found no misconduct. She has filed for records under the freedom of information act. So, this needs to be examined thoroughly as to who is telling the truth. Then, there’s a bit about the computer generated searches or however it’s worded. CBP claims the computer selected her. Knee-jerk racism is a very bad thing to accuse others of as well.
