I wonder if non-Catholics realize that without the Catholic Church there would not be a Bible (nm)

Those Catholics…always copying ancient texts and preserving them in monasteries! Yep…we owe you guys! 👍

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Bible–but it is only one tool. People knew God long before the Bible was written and put together.

Please eleborate. My understanding is that prior to the Great Schism there was no Catholic/Orthodox Church, it was only the Christian Church.

I was kidding. The OP said Catholic (I assumed he meant in communion with Rome) so I said Orthodox (meaning Eastern Orthodox). 🙂

The canon was formed before the Great Schism. The canon of the Scriptures was written in the Council of Carthage and ratified by the Seventh Ecumenical Council.

I think a lot of them know, they just don’t want to accept that fact.

I don’t mean to sound rude, but it seems like that happens.
 
An Anglican friend of mine tried to school me on how the Orthodox Church came first because the acceptance by Constantine. That one didn’t stand up too long. It seems so many are quick to discredit the Catholic Church but never take to the time to look at the facts.
 
Wouldn’t the creator of the Universe have found another way to have his sacred words recorded in a book? :rolleyes:
 
And without the Anglican Church, we would not have the 1611 KJV - Baptist Edition! 😃
