OK so by that reckonng the Word isnt Gods perfect work as He had to come back and tell someone that he should make an image.

Do you read your bible ?

Whoever appeared to Faustina aint my Lord Jesus Christ.👍
Do you pray with your Bible in your hands? When you do, are you worshipping your Bible, therefor commiting idolitaly?

You say on your profile you are catholic, but you post like a non-Catholic. So which is it?

I read the bible.

Nobody is saying you have to believe in St Faustian! She is a wonderful saint.

When you pray to god, do you have am image of him in your mind of what you think he looks like? Is it by an chance the same as what we see in church of Our Lord?
Im sure he was or she was a lovely person but i would love to think Jesus was 6ft blonde long hair like Jim Caveizel in the passion which was a wonderful film i watch frequently as like the statue thing you use its good to let the eyes see what Jesus really went through to save my worthless *** and like i said previous im not saying you are praying to the statue i get it i really do and part of me wants to fill my home with pictures and statues as well which i say that as i sit beneath a painting which is supposed to be Mary either Magdalene or his mother praying at the foot of a cross that a man is hanging on that i bought to remind me of the sacrifice and if im being honest for others to see to so they know i believe in Jesus and that’s my point its a human thing it isn’t scriptural and all im saying that when concerning prayer nowhere are we ever directed to using statues its the opposite we are warned throughout the scripture not to do it so my flesh is saying its ok and i really want to do it myself, jeez i used to have statues of saint Patrick and Joseph and Mary though never one of Jesus but my bible is telling me not to so i don’t, lol:thumbsup:

Yeah i do hold my bible close sometimes when i sleep i hug it other times i kiss it and other times i sit my tea on it lol.

No i dont picture anything in my mind when i pray i tend to keep my prayers short but frequent and the usually just be the our Father as Jesus directs us though i do elaborate a bit as i might say Our Father thou art in heaven holy and great is your name, the king of kings lord of lords etc thy kingdom come, yes Lord let your kingdom come you get my drift lol so i will shut my eyes then open them and shut them wow pure explaining it here but no i do not picture anything i dont know if that says more bout my lack of imagination than it does anything else.😉

By your own argument it does appear as if you are making an idol out of it.

Of course, I am posting is just 'heathen rubbish. because I am questianing your posts.

No your not a heathen cause you question my posts, you should question thats how we find the truth. Im sure i said at the beggining of my posts we were all still brothers and sisters in Christ and like most familys we might disagree im not calling anyone heathen your faith is just as righteous as mine as its freely given to all.

Did you really say im making an idol of the Word of God lollollol He is my idol you fool lolol

Im not arguing 😉 How many times do i need to say it I GET WHEN YOU USE STATUES ITS TO HELP GET THE MIND ON GOD im just saying it aint scriptural just as but if the Word of God isnt the biggest representation of God on earth i dont know what is. It certainly aint the pope lol.

But at the end of the day its just paper the words i read so they stay in my heart and mind so when the bibles are banned like when they used to be by the catholic church it will be written in my heart and mu faith will remain strong.

But its still a good tea coaster. 👍

Im not a catholic i was raised in the faith and went through all the ceremony of communion and confirmation etc.

My religion is none im a believer. Its just me, my faith, and the bible. It was good enough for the the believers 2000yrs ago and its good enough for me today.

It isnt hard to read Gods Word, accept it, understand it and believe it and put it into practice.

What is hard is following mans doctrine and someone elses interpretation of the scripture.

Jesus came to the poor, needy, prostitute, the kind of people that would be thrown out of church or if not looked down on and despised, well that`s me, yeah i might not look poor and needy, and iv never been thrown out of a church, not yet.

When i was 10 i think we were making our confirmation and there was a girl who had just came into the class i dunno that year don’t remember the exact time was over 2oyrs ago, anyway we were all excited at doing our thing, we were meeting the bishop, it was Joseph devine, the bishop in Lanarkshire lovely man, our priest was the Monsignor Tom Connelly when he was still a priest, so all lovely men who loved Jesus and loved God but anyway my abiding memory was on the day they made this girl go even though they would not let her join in, she hadn’t made her first communion, and we all got to meet the bishop as i said and get slapped on the cheek by him, all had wonderful parties with gifts etc and this one girl cried throughout because she was excluded. Now i know why she was excluded and i aint making a big deal my point is the catholic church has so much dogma and doctrine it has gotten away from its roots as the one true church and is now an all powerful organisation more concerned with ceremony and tradition than true bible teaching. Did Jesus exclude anyone especially children, no, infact He said we must become like children to enter the kingdom of God so my point and its also the concern of many Catholics who are concerned about the church that since Vatican II was set up up to that last pope Ratzinger the church is become the heretic it so despised but i have faith that this new guy the Jesuit pope Frances might get the church back to its roots and become the beautiful bridesmaid it should be but since my whole family are church going, church serving, deep in the church but yet no not Jesus or the truth i have my doubts.

But let me just say, we are all brothers and sisters of the same family and faith which is Christ Jesus and like family’s we may disagree and have quarrels but what we should remember is nt only do we love our God with all our heart soul and mind but love each other also so do not think i hate or want to fight anyone, i just want everyone to know that away from all the ceremony people can have a full relationship and faith in Christ without the pope or the priests permission.

ps, iv always had the feeling if Jesus was to walk into 99% of the worlds churches that proclaim to love Him, He would`nt be accepted as He didnt fit with the profile the church has given Him.

pps can i go and bow to my tv and pray to it if i tell myself it is just a representation of God ? No, why ? because its silly. (yes i know a tv and a statue of a beautiful man are slightly different but the concept is the same, just because the statues are beautiful and made with the best stones and gold and silver does not a representation of God make)…

Peace to ya all 👍
so basically you bore false witness? Some Christian you are.

all im saying that when concerning prayer nowhere are we ever directed to using statues
Is your position, then, “If it’s not in the Bible it’s forbidden”?
its the opposite we are warned throughout the scripture not to do it
Actually, we are warned in the Bible to not* worship* statues, not to have statues in our homes and churches.

The Catholic Church NEVER banned the Bible. They banned a certain version of it. The Catholic Church put together the Bible and translated it into the common languages before the Protestants even got around to it. And Protestants ripped 7 books out of the Bible. Where is the respect for Sacred Scripture there? Moreso the version of the Bible which was banned by the church was full of errors. Do you lack respect for the Word of God to think it’s okay to circulate Bibles with errors in them?
Try reading this if you truly want to be educated because if you think the Catholic Church is the Bible’s enemy, you are listening to your pastor instead of historical facts.

Do you believe everything your pastor tells you? Maybe it’s you who needs to stop trusting in men.

If you aren’t willing to critically think about your own beliefs, don’t come here playing childish games.

You should learn how to question your own beliefs before you come here demanding others question theirs. Hypocrisy much?

King David, king Solomon, did they build idols and worship them ? Yep. Was God pleased ? No He was well angry.

FOLLOW JESUS NOT MAN. READ THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELVES AND ASK GOD TO TEACH YOU HIS COMMANDS. DO NOT RELY ON MAN/WOMAN OR YOUR PASTOR OR PRIEST. DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT READ YOUR GOSPELS AND NEW TESTAMENT AND HEAR IT FROM THE ONE TRUE GOD CHRIST JESUS, AMEN.👍
Can you please tell me where King David built idols and worshipped them?

Incidentally I read the bible for myself and asked God to teach his commands. I read the gospels and new testament, and consequently I seriously having to consider the Catholic Church as the true Church. For starters the Bible does not say “its just me and Jesus”.

Did you really say im making an idol of the Word of God
Well, not really.

Just applying the same paradigm you’re using for Catholic veneration of the saints.

It appears that you can recognize in yourself something: veneration of something holy (like your Bible), but you accuse Catholics of doing something which you’re doing yourself.

See?

Im not arguing 😉 How many times do i need to say it I GET WHEN YOU USE STATUES ITS TO HELP GET THE MIND ON GOD im just saying it aint scriptural
Neither is wearing a wedding ring, getting married on the beach, getting married in a church, having Bible studies, having altar calls, calling your pastor “reverend”, having a cross in your home, having a cross on a steeple…

are you opposed to all those practices as well, KC?

First off, if you’re really just generic non-denominational Protestant, say so. Just because you’re technically Catholic by your baptism, doesn’t mean you should put it as your religion here.
Yeah i do hold my bible close sometimes when i sleep i hug it other times i kiss it and other times i sit my tea on it lol.
I honestly can’t tell what you think of it. On one hand, you seem to worship the Bible, going so far as to sleep with it. On the other hand, you also treat it with less respect than it’s due. It may just be a book that happens to be divinely inspired, but that doesn’t mean it should be a coaster.
Did you really say im making an idol of the Word of God lollollol He is my idol you fool lolol
Just so you know, I reported this. You’re laughing at him for no reason. That type of reaction for someone disagreeing with you is one of the textbook examples of uncharitability.

First off, if you were raised Catholic, you should know we don’t think the Pope is God. You might be mistaking us for the Ancient Egyptians. Also, there are plenty of things that even sola scriptura Protestants do that aren’t strictly Scriptural. Having a Biblical canon, believing in the Trinity…

I understand how having statues of Saints and praying to the Saints in heaven is not Idolatry because we do not worship that Saints or pray to the statues but we have statues of Jesus and we do worship Jesus. Pagans have statues of their gods and the worship them but they don’t pray to the statue they pray to what it represents. Just like how we don’t pray to the statue of Jesus we pay to what it represents. We have a statue of our God. So wouldn’t praying to Jesus with using a statue be the same as what the pagans do?
Then I would say that they are not worshiping statues either.

But where they go wrong is that their god they pray to is false.
And using a statue of a false god is also wrong, tho they don’t know that.
If they enjoyed a statue and just called it art work, then ok.
I could also have a statue of budda on my mantel and enjoy it as art.

Just a thought.

“Let us go to the alter of God” (hymn)

No, the pagans in the Bible thought that the actual statue was a god. They didn’t pray to what it represented but prayed to the statue itself, thinking that the actual statue was a god.

That’s my understanding as well. In classic paganism an idol was invested with the spirit of the god it represented, and thus it could think, and hear, and feel, because the spirit used the wood or stone of the idol as a means of being present. So it could be directly prayed to and worshiped, because a part of the god’s spirit was “in” the statue in a mock-pattern of how our spiritual nature is “in” our bodies.
