Yes, of course they should -but without physical punishment. When the State calls something illegal, that means it is not an approved activity, but we don’t really need to punish for everything that is illegal, just as we don’t need to legalize everything that we don’t want to punish for.
We have State laws in the US where alcohol shall not be bought or sold on Sundays. Still, we don’t punish anyone for drinking on Sunday…

I disagree. The issue of gay marriage is the issue that Obama, Biden, Pelosi, and the state governments are negotiating. Nobodys talking about the issue of the homosexual “act”. But if they were, the church would give her opinion.I think it’s the exact opposite. Society has sanctions against highly immoral acts - child abusers get sent to prison, and in most countries prostitution is also held to be sufficiently immoral that it’s illegal.
Logically then, the anti-gay rights camp should be arguing for the homosexual act to be criminalized if they believe it’s so immoral. But instead by only arguing against gay marriage they send the confused message that the homosexual act isn’t immoral enough that society needs to stop it going on, and isn’t moral enough for society to acknowledge that it goes on. Out of sight out of mind, don’t ask don’t tell.
What we might call an insipid, limp wristed, net curtain morality.

Let me tell you a little something about legalised, or at least decriminalised prostitution.
I happen to live in an area now frequented by hookers. Why? A recent seismic event has banned them from their usual strip - which was still residential.
I wake in the morning on Saturday and Sundays and find littered along the street outside of my house all the wonderful left over products of their business. There’s a school over the road from me, and they often duck in their with their “Johns” after dark to have a go at it on the park benches. A few weeks back a prostititute was raped and brutally beaten , and then bleeding made it to my neighbours where she smashed the window to get in. They still haven’t caught the rapist.
My friend used to live in their previous stretch, and she said she’d come home from work and see them “going at it” on neighbouring lawns, on the Church grounds, behind businesses closed for the evening.
Of course, some prostititutes are really stuck, either from drug addiction or gambling debt or a violent pimp, some women feel like they have no other life, no other way to make money. But then there’s the ones that are rude, impolite, pushy to get customers, even I’ve been approached and hustled to “buy” something, and I’m female!! And “bum fights”, they got nothing on prostititutes when they start a turf war. And the cops can’t do a gosh darn thing because its “decriminalised” down here. Local govt. can’t do anything. And anyone who tries to do something, gets harassed by the “sex workers’ union”. Granted it was decriminalised more so that the govt. could tax them.
So can someone explain again how prostitiution is just a business transaction between two conscenting adults?

No, especially against divorce. There are situations in which one is better off going it alone than remaining misrible and married. Ideally it would be nice if our society progressed to a point where divorce were considered unnecessary. I think making it illegal without addressing the problems that make it at times desired would be ignoring some some significant problems and potentially cruel to some.
Adultry is already considered a civil offense where I live. I can’t think of any justification for making it a criminal offense.
Technically there are laws on the books for fornication that haven’t been removed. But they’ve never been effectively enforced. Even less successful than the alcohol prohibition laws.

That’s what elected politicians do, they were born to negotiate.
But really that’s my point - if no one is connecting gay marriage with the act than attempts to link it with things like prostitution are specious. Stopping gays from marrying can only affect their moral behavior for the worse, and it’s time that the anti crowd owned up to that.
