Planten, if I am not wrong I believe the information you state about the sinfullness of marriage comes from some of the heretical sects of Christianity that exsisted in former times. Right off hand, I can’t remember their names or the exact time periods that they were around. Can anyone on the thread recall their names and time periods? For some reason, I believe that these concepts arose around the time of the earliest church and that their proponents were forced by the church onto the margins and out into the deserts after the third century AD. I have read that Muhummed communicated with some of the Gnostic sects in his travels.

FaithofAbraham, you are like so many others outside of the Catholic church who don’t understand the significance of not relying totally on THE BOOK or Bible. You see when it comes to the New Testament, Catholics don’t just rely on those words on the Bible’s printed page. We also heavily rely on the men and women of that era and soon afterwards who knew of Jesus, through his Apostles and diciples. Thank goodness many of them sealed this knowledge with their blood to confirm this knowledge. There are volumes of their writings that attest to every aspect of what they were taught by those closest to Jesus. It’s like a cord, with each of the Apostolic Fathers reinforcing what the other Apostolic Fathers were stating. There is no disagreement on principles of faith or morals between them. We do not need to put our own interpretation on what this or that verse means for these Fathers were far more specific in fleshing out what Christ had told the Apostles concerning every aspect of the faith. In fact there wouldn’t be any New Testament literature handed down if these first Apostolic Fathers hadn’t preserved and handed them down to the church that followed them. Did you know that if the Imperial Roman authorities of the first two centuries had been able to destroy the four gospels as we have them in the New Testament, that that wouldn’t have deleted the manuscript passages of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. This is because the Church Fathers quoted so heavily from the Gospels that we can nearly reconstruct the entire New Testament from their quotes. The reason the Catholic church is as it is today is because these giants of our faith moulded us as an institution and not just because of an individual’s interpretation of what he may think was meant now about a passage that was recorded back then. It is funny to read or hear what a Protestant thinks a passage means today, when a Catholic can go to the source of what the 12 Apostles taught their students the Apostlic Fathers. To eliminate their writings is equlivent to eliminating the Haddith.

I don’t believe anything that contradicts my interpretation of the Bible, but of course I don’t interpret it the same way Christians do. Same as denominations don’t interpret everything the same way within Christianity and between denominations.

I also do pretty much eliminate Hadith.

A Cafeteria Muslim!

That’s a first for me.

It means that you pick and choose what you want to believe from Islam to form your own sub-beliefs system.

Fine by me.

🙂

Is that like a Cafeteria Christian which picks and chooses from the best of all pagan beliefs to fabricate a mythology about the demigod status of Jesus?

Please forgive what 2ndGen posting, I believe that he should not make that posting. But answering your question, No we did not. We did interpret our bible and we have tons of documentations coming from many centuries from many experts on how and why we came into conclusion that Jesus is God, (if you care to find out).

You may make your own interpretation and came into other conclusion. It does not make your different interpretation right. You keep on insisting a demigod and pagan origin of Jesus Deity, but you refuse to accept many explanations from us. That is fine, but keep on accusing based on own criteria is absurd. You are just like a prosecutor, try to prosecute other by mean on coincidence only. In other thread you admit that God can do anything, and yet you do not admit that God can make His own word to become human, and still be God. That is really absurd.

Let me tell you, my brother, you are keep on limiting what God can do based on your human mind. I have told you before, If you don’t understand the theory of Relativity of Einstein, does not mean that Einstein is wrong. In my conclusion, in your believe, God must do everything based on you. If you don’t understand God, then God is wrong. The other posibility is, you inadvertently and indirectly claim that you are God. Sorry for saying, but that is my conclusion based on reading your posts.

I never said God can’t do it. I just don’t see support that He did do it with Jesus or good reason why He would do it with Jesus, I see the opposite. In a big way, because what challenge is it for a God to avoid sin? Not a lot. But it is a great challenge for a man to do it, as Jesus did.

Dear FoA,

If you don’t understand how and why the Deity of Jesus, then how do you know that your interpretation of the bible is true/correct? Why do you put your faith so much that you don’t believe any contradiction to your interpretation. That sounds like that you indirectly said that all other interpretations but yours are false.
You mentioned that you do not have any so-called organized religion which you follow, right? Who told you about those things, that makes you come out to your own interpretation of the bible? Let me give a little advise (if you let me), brother. If you make such claim that your interpretation of the bible is the most correct one, you make yourself unintentionally (perhaps) became arrogant. Who knows later on you will claim that the angel of Gabriel or the Holyspirit told you so. You will end up creating a new religion.
